Hi Lyndsay, Ebonie, and Angeline! Nice to meet you - you all have such elegant names!
I'm Beth, and I'm trying to figure out how to be healthy with out focussing too much on the weight. I'm Canadian and trying to follow the food guide, which is a lot more fruits and veggies than I've ever eaten before! I'm also trying to not buy food at school, so I'm making all of my own food and discovering this novelty of "cooking". I've been tracking calories just to make sure that I'm not eating too many "other" foods, and I average about 2000kcal/d. I go to the gym about 3x/week, and am starting to set some pretty ambitious fitness goals! One reason I decided to make this change was a knee injury that kept me from being active: since I couldn't do much I just gave up on the healthy eating. I finally finished moping, and now am committed to doing everything I can to be healthy, regardless of weight.
I don't have a weight goal, but it's an interesting measure of how these lifestyle changes are affecting my body. I was aiming for a modest weight loss of 10lbs by April 1st, and 6 weeks later it's already gone! I feel way more energetic, excited about the yummy and healthy food I take with me places, have more money, and am going to talk to my physiotherapist to see if I can start training for a triathlon. I've been really active before but never weighed less than 165lbs... and while it'd be cool to be at a "healthy" weight, my biggest goal is to develop healthy, lifelong habits. I'm excited for this challenge - it'll be fun to encourage each other!
How 'bout you guys? What's your plan?
mmm... bananas....
