So i got a treadmill from Sears for christmas!! Hints and tips needed!
ok so a few weeks ago i asked for peoples oppionions on whether or not i should get a treadmill, well my family gave me 500 dollars and said go find you a treadmill, this might help. i was soooo happy, well i went to the sears after christmas sale, and i got a 900 dollar treadmill for $475!!!! is that exciting? anyway what i was posting about was...do you have any hints or tips to keep me motivated to use it and not keep it for a clothes rack. i used to use the fact that i had to drive to the gym and take so much time out of my day to go to a gym. lol now i dont have an excuse...its litterally a few feet from me. i need to get my butt movin!!!! anyway...any hints or tips from those of you who have one in your home? anyway talk to you peeps later!!!
Have a set schedule: put aside a special time(s) each day that you use it, and don't allow anything to interfere with it (ie early in the morning, or after school or work, or while watching TV after dinner, or before bed) ...
My most successful weight loss attempt was using our treadmill at home regularly. I love music and I would walk in the dark listening to music and it was really my escape... I'd sing along and just use the time to think and meditate in the "zone."
Others have said they ONLY watch TV while walking on the treadmill. An old co-worker read books on the treadmill and I think books-on-tape would be great too.
If you don't look at it as exercise and look at it more as "me time" I think you will be more successful... and dropping lbs consequently!
what a great idea...changeing the way i look at it, that would make me want to do it. lol ill try that. just me time. reflection. i like that...ill keep up a schedule, leave the platform down!, and think of it as me time of reflection that i deff. could use every day. also how long is a good time to work out? i did 30 mins today. how long do you all walk/run?
My sister used to love to read magazines on the treadmill.....really taking her time flipping through the pages and reading just about every story. By the time she was done with the magazine, the majority of the time she would be on the treadmill would be up.
Yeah try a minimum of 20 minutes... even if you are not feeling up to it, you can probably handle 20 minutes, right?
I'm under the impression that the most effective exercise is variety, either interval training or changing the type of exercise. If you just do treadmill, it would be helpful to do different lengths & speeds each day and also doing some running/walking mixed. Now when I use the treadmill at the gym, I listen to music and run one song and walk the next, run, walk, run and so on. One day I'll go 2 miles, the next time 4 miles, etc.
oh how cool...about the table thing for surfing the web! i dont know how good i would be at it. lol i also need to get me a huge fan! all of your hints and tips are amazing! keep distracted! will do. lol yeah i could do at least 20 mins. im just so scared of not keeping up with it, i also joined the BL challenge that way i have everyone else depending on me. so ill be more likely to take more pride in weight loss and it will motivate me to keep going. im so excited, i cant wait till i get to shop at "skinny people" stores. like express, abercrombie. i want it soooo bad i could spit. anyway keep them coming!
I saw that picture, too, and I am now posting this FROM MY TREADMILL. It takes a bit of concentration to walk and type at the same time, but I've gone nearly a mile while reading 3FC. This may be my new habit. I did have to pause and get a headscarf so I don't drip sweat onto the keyboard.
I'm charting my progress on some graph paper. My goal is to walk 1,000 miles. (A journey of a thousand miles begins with me deciding to take care of myself.) So far, I've done 24 miles. I like to see the progress.
