I hear ya! I'm running on a treadmill, and I have to put a towel or shirt over the display so I don't check the time every two seconds!

when i use a machine with a timer, there is no avoiding looking at it. so much so, that i even stare at it, stare through it really. like a concentration point. i've learned to embrace the timer. heh

but that's why i like going outside more. i can't see a clock. it's just me and the outdoors. 30 minutes outside feels like 10 minutes inside

I made it through Week 2 Day 1 of C25K! And it was not an easy one. I had a cramp for the first 18 minutes of running so that was wonderful. But I stuck to it! I didn't even slow the speed.

I don't feel the pains of it today but all my leg muscles were aching last night around 11:30. I am so happy that this program eases you into running or I would get scared off for sure.

Good luck with the running everyone! I'm dying to be at the point where I really enjoy it enough to take it outside in the cold.

I get that "runners high" about 5 minutes after I feel like I can't take another step. Where I'm just running and it feels good and I'm just going through the motions nearly effortlessly. I wish I could start out like that lol. I have a book my track coach gave me back in HS about running, it has to do with basically the mentality of runners, maybe I should read that.

Oh! I forgot to mention that one of the BIG influences for me to do my running yesterday was the fact that I had posted on here yesterday that I would be doing it when I got home so therefore I HAD to do it. Even though I got home a couple hrs later than normal and didn't have dinner and didn't feel like it.

If that's not the most excellent reason to be checking out 3FC, then I don't know what is! all of you are an inspiration.

Does anyone else feel like their lungs are bigger and can hold more air after they run? I need to definitely hit the treadmill tonight! You all have inspired me. I hate when I first start to run. I feel like my body tries to bluff its way out. I get leg aches or the sides of my feet start to hurt... but once I hit that runners high... I love the feeling after a good run. I love being able to run. I love it when I can call myself a runner lol.

Its been a very long time for me. I did the c25k about 2 years ago. I ran a 3k and had a blast. Then life intervened and blah here I am slightly over weight and can't run worth a crap. I will find that me again...

I do that when I am running out of time and I want to make my distance longer! I have been doing 3 miles each day but I want to see my time get better before I add any more distance.

yeah, i usually say "do xkm in 45 mins", and the next day "do x.1km in 45 mins" so i am gradually increasing speed and distance ^_^

I don't run the same speed I do mine in intervals and I love love love it. I've never felt like I've gotten this good of a workout. I don't know if I mentioned how I run but I do this:

1 min at 4.5 mph
1 min at 5.0
1-3 (depends on how much time I have) at 5.5
1 min at 6.0
1 min at 6.5

Rinse and Repeat x6

Times goes by super fast because you're constantly changing your intensity.

Hello all!

I've never liked running before - but the past 6 or so months, I'm happy to say that's changed. My knees aren't over the moon, but they'll have to deal with it.

Any other cool chicks here who like to run at night?

I find it extra-motivational. As if I'm running from someone..or something.

Though, I'm a huge treadmill fan - and I like the way the gym environment makes me feel less alone.

Jaclyn - I'm hope you get the runners high back - maybe up the intensity? Hills? Intervals? Just some suggestions, all the best

Ok wk2d2 of the c25k is done... WOW. I would have to agree with jahjah THAT WAS HARD! I felt like my stomach was going to come up through my throat. My legs werent cramping, my feet werent aching maybe it was something off with my breathing?

I like when it is difficult though, its that much more satisfying when your done. As long as there is an end goal I am good.

Iconised Ghost - Thats a good point about distance vs time goals. I remember last time I did the c25k I did the time and then when I actually entered a race the distance killed me...

mazza - I agree about the gym being less lonely. I have a treadmill at home and I so miss going to the gym to do my runs. I feel like I push myself harder and done wheez when Im out of breath lol.

I've actually been wondering about that - when you're just starting out, is it best to work on time or distance? Right now I'm just aiming for 30 minutes without walking - which I can do, but it's slow. In that amount of time, I only cover about 2.5 miles. My goal is to work up to a 10K by May. What would you ladies recommend?
