I'm also fortunate that I really like fat free cottage cheese. Oodles of protein and pretty darn filling, too. I know that lots of people aren't big fans, though.

I heart cottage cheese... I kinda eat it with weird stuff. I love cottage cheese with my meal. Like let's say I have spaghetti, I'll have a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese on the side. Most people think it's weird, but it's really good. Dirty rice with a side of cottage cheese is so good! I just haven't had it in a while.

And now there is a tropical storm right over her city. And she had to sit and just wait there for it. If someone told me an earthquake was coming, I wouldn't be able to just sit there and wait to see how it turns out.

Well, living in Alaska, and in an area of Alaska that has at least a few storms every winter that pack hurricane force winds, I find it kinda fun. My house is a super house though, its been standing for 30 years through those winds because it was built above code. I dont' know how floridians do it either when their houses get demolished every time a big storm comes through.

On the subject of Tofu, I really like it. The trick with tofu is to know how to cook it and spice it just right. I really like it cubed and in stir fry. I've been feeding it to my son since he was 6 months old just so I wouldn't end up with a kid who didn't like it. But, I'm not a vegitarian so I PREFER real meat when I can "afford" it in my diet. I eat meat about three times a week, approx. 2 oz per serving. But, I can't eat really fatty greasy cuts of meat due to not having a gall bladder, if I eat, say, fatty steak, it goes through me faster then I can run for the bathroom sometimes....ew.

Love cottage cheese with spaghetti too! Reminds me of riccotta in lasagna.

Ha, I don't find that weird at all! I'm always adding stuff into my meals to sneak in protein or veggies or whatever. My favorite add-ins are "lite" tofu and baby spinach... Practically all of my meals include one or both of those things, either mixed in or eating nips of it between bites of the entree. Guess that makes me weird, too. ;) Hehe.

I LOVE cottage cheese too, though I'm still trying to get used to eating the fat-free kind. It's just not the same!

Star: I'm glad you like it too! I can't stand CC with anything cold but love it with warm stuff!

So I'm at work, no one's in the office but me. I'm bored.....

But I have to say, I got a Brita pitcher the other day. I'm in love! I love this thing. The water tastes so good, it could be my mind, but I'm drinking it like it's pop or something. I drank 4 24 oz last night alone, which is why I was up at 4 peeing, but it tasted so good. I think I had a total of like 192 oz yesterday. I worked out too, so I think was just thirstier than normal and I didn't drink near enough water this past weekend. The pitcher was a good investment and it came with two nalgene bottles, which I needed anyway. It was like $25 for everything!

We have a pure "tub" what ever you call it, it holds alot of water. It's got a nice convenient little spigot on the bottom of it, and I only have to fill it up ever week. I do love the taste of water since buying it. I'm on my third 18 oz nalgene bottle of water so far today, will probably drink another two during cardio and then another one before bed so I know the pain in the arse of having to get up in the middle of the night and go. Sometimes two or three times.

I like cottage cheese and pineapple..yummy!

Hey everyone --

Today was a looooong day, but good. Had a big meeting with one of our print reps today, who has been giving us a really hard time lately. Meeting him in person was good since we can now put a face with a name/person, but it was awkward and kinda long. He was definitely a sales person, but very nice. I think things will be better from this point on...

Figured out how to make a good veggie burger, and made my first eatable grilled tofu (woohoo!). I honestly don't think I'll ever buy a ready-made veggie burger again after making these, a-mazing! My next venture is (veg) gelatto in my ice cream maker. It's awesome to try something new, food wise, and have it be successful.

Ghost -- that is so awesome with the water! I'm learning how to make tofu, and there is an art to it, that's for sure!

leighish -- Have you tried the Morningstar Chick'n strips? They are so close to real chicken, it's disturbing! It's a true amazement how far faux meats have come. I don't eat them very often, but they're a nice treat.

It's so awesome to hear there are some other veggies in here!

I WANT to try them but my husband is naturally defiant. One day I'll secretly make them and see if he reacts at all. We're both meat eaters but I do like to try different things. On another note, how are the morningstar black bean burgers? At least I think they are morningstar...

I haven't had the black bean burgers, but I've heard they are good. My coworker used to bring them to work, and they always smelled really good! The Morningstar crumbles are also good, I mix them with taco seasoning and it's super tasty! (and I'm quite known for being a super picky eater, so if even I like it...) that's so great if he's willing to give it a try, I get being cautious of it!

all this talk about food is making me hungry, it sounds so good!

Do you guys ever get really emotional on your weigt loss journey, over seemingly strange little things? I was just sitting here thinking about you girls, and how much i loved you all, and i started tearing up :'D

Silverstar33 08-20-2008 08:01 AM

Woo hoo morning star crumbles! I love making home made pizzas with them (and onions and green peppers and mushrooms...yum!).

Funny about the cottage cheese. At one point I posted on a "what are you eating" type thread that I like cottage cheese and I was instantly berated about how I don't have to eat boring foods!

Taylor - how was Europe?

Hi everyone, hope it's okay if I just jump in :) I usually hang out in Featherweights but it's so quiet in there lately that I thought I'd hop on over here! :D

I'm a 20-year-old college student trying to lose those last few pounds....I have lost about 13-14lbs since May (when I came home for the summer) and would like to slim down just a bit more, and work on building more muscle :strong: I actually leave for my junior year abroad in Spain in 1.5 weeks, so I don't know how much I'll be posting after that, but I hope to continue checking in at 3FC so I don't end up regaining everything I lost this summer! After going shopping a few times in the past week, I won't be bringing many pieces of clothing that will allow for "wiggle room" if I let myself go, so to speak...so I am planning on hitting the gym and running outside while I am there.

Hello all!

Welcome, kitegirl!

leighish and Bella, I am a fan of the Morningstar spicy black bean burgers. They are good for bulking up veggie wraps. I made a really yummy wrap with a Joseph's flax, oat bran, etc. (can't remember the rest of the ingredients) wrap, fat free veggie refried beans, baby spinach, a black bean burger, and taco sauce. One caveat: NOT light on the sodium.

Iconised Ghost, that's so sweet! Usually when I find myself getting randomly emotional, I realize that I'm PMS-ing or I haven't eaten anything in a while so my blood sugar is low, but sometimes there is no reason at all.

Happy Wednesday!

Here we go again 08-20-2008 11:05 AM

I like the garden burgers but have never tasted the black bean burgers.

Icon- You're too sweet! It really is cool to have a support system on here. There's been plenty of days that I wanted to give up and people here were telling me they've been there too and that I can do it.

I think CC is essential to eating. :)

Ok, here goes my rant! My car had broken down last week on the interstate in CA, not a good thing. I got it back last Wednesday it's been a lil jerky but that's it. Well, today it has started being really jerky when I start in the morning and the check engine light was on! This happened on Monday too but then it was fine and I was like ok. Well, it scared the crap out of me and all I could do was pray that I didn't get stranded during rush hour on the interstate! I have this thing about it, my good friend's mom died a few years back when she got hit while getting out of her car on the side of the interstate. So you can see that this is not situation that I really want to be in.

So now, I have to get off work early go to this place, they better not ask me to give them more money, b/c it was not doing this before. And I better have my car back because I will be stranded without a way to work!

lol this is not a very good start to my day. The good thing is that I'm still at 284! Yay!
