I actually know pretty much nothing about theater (I'm a chem/bio double major); I just love musicals! Watching them, anyway, because aside from some dance training, I have very few skills that might actually be useful, you know, IN the theater.

Taylor86 04-11-2008 03:01 AM

Yeah, I plan to be a college theater professor to make some money. Urinetown...I have heard good things about it. Not very familiar with it though.

And why don't you lovely, healthy theater people live here in Co? Sometimes I feel so lonely feeling like I am only girl trying to lose weight and be healthy who listens to musicals. I could sure use you here!!!!

So I went to the piano bar tonight. I had a boca burger with 1/2 the bun and a side salad I picked at. I also had a little bit of a bake potatoe with no butter. I did drink...about 3 bacardi and diet cokes and 2 gin and tonics. So that pretty much made up my calories for the day. I am not too disappointed in myself. I worked out today and made sure I didn't over do it on my calories during the day so I could enjoy myself tonight. (I also see my personal trainer tomorrow)

Hope you all have a great friday!!

just keep swimming - I'm a biology student, too :)

well, ladies, I'm going to my boyfriend's home town for the weekend, for his nephew baptism. and there are going to be huge amounts of meat of all kind and unhealthy food and candy and cakes and chocolate:(
I don't like meat all that very much and grilled meat coated with oil...blah:( I know I'll fail my calorie plan because how can I not eat if I am at two hour baptism feast? :(
I just hope noone will watch me eating, because when I take just a small amount of food, they don't stop untill I take some more :(
I just hate when everyone is counting my bites of food.
after one lunch, his mother told me she could never guess how little I eat, and I'm so big. I know she joked and meant nothing bad, but still :(
I hope I won't come back home with 10 pounds extra weight:(

how do you deal with family dinners and celebrations? any advice? :(

RememberHowToSmile 04-11-2008 10:17 AM

Hey just wanted to pop in sorry its been a busy day or so, I got to go spend like 3 hours last night with my baby nephew, he's adorable. He is only 28 days old.

Oh I wanted to share a funny story, I was going downstairs to meet my roommate the other day (we got dinner) and I had a Tennessee T shirt on. I passed one of the security guards for the adjacent building and he asked me if I was a TN fan, I said that my parents lived in TN and got it for me, he the responded with are you thinking of going there for college? I laughed and said I was a second year law student. It is funny because every since I lost a lot of weight everyone always mistakes me for being way younger.

For you all ladies with weddings coming up here are my thoughts:
1. Do not get it a "few sizes smaller" because that will REALLY stress you out about losing weight. Plus, at least in my family we have lots of events (showers etc) leading up to the big day and the last thing you want is to try your dress on the day of and have it not zip up.
2. If you are worried about the tailoring, just bring it to your own tailor. You can get a final fitting like a week or so before so that it fit perfectly the day of.

Taylor86 04-11-2008 01:25 PM

Oolong My advice is this: Eat for you, not for them.

lissa9501 04-11-2008 01:53 PM

all the wedding talk makes me think of my weddings i obught hte dress 3 days ahead of time right off the rack at jc penneys but hope to be able to look like i did on my wedding day when we renew our vows one day (i got 3 years before out 10th anniv)

That's the problem with big events, they are supposed to be fun but actually turn out to be a food nightmare! Still trying to figure out what to do for my birthday... I don't want to splurge, I've been so good and am FINALLY seeing results. My thought was getting the fajitas, but just eating the skillet (according to Chilis the entire skillet of veggies and chicken is 330 calories). So I won't eat the wraps and the rice and the beans, but maybe I'll start with like a side salad. That would be staying in my calorie level... It's hard for me to believe though that the skillet is only 330 calories. Doesn't it seem so buttery/oily to you guys?

sexybrokechick 04-11-2008 08:41 PM

I haven't been able to work out in 2 weeks yall, I have a sinus infection and last week, my ankle was throbbing. Now that I'm feeling better, I want to get a work out in tomorrow.

NSV: Last month, I went window shopping and tried on clothes to get an idea of how much I've lost. Today, I went to Old Navy and tried on dress pants there. I have a hard time with pants because I've always had a big butt, even at my thinnest and thunder thighs. Last time I was there, I had to buy a size 20 and that was really tight then too. Today, I tried on an 18 and they were baggy except at the waist (i have a huge gut that ruins my figure, im actually proportional). The 16s fit but I couldn't fasten them at the waist. It felt good to see that.

CookieMonster416: Tomorrow, I'm going to a wedding and I tend to have problems sticking to plan at big events and having food nightmares. However, I'm not going to the reception so I should avoid the big problem. As for Chilis, I think they cook the fajita skillet in either a low-calorie olive oil or something like olivio. What I've learned also about restaurants is that an entree is supposed to be a low amount of calories but that is based on only eating a small portion of it, like a small portion of the skillet (half a skillet?)

CookieMonster416 04-11-2008 09:35 PM

It says 330 calories for the entire skillet... I'm going to a brewery, so eating the skillet as my meal with no wrap/rice/beans is not a good way to go?

Awww... My dauhgter is almost 2.5 years old and I already miss the time when she was that little and just wanted to be held. Now, she won't even let me hug her and just runs around. :cry:Well, when mine was 28 days old, I had hard time holding her too because she had to be connected to the oxygen until she was about 2 months old. Well.. although I don't want another child, I LOVE spending time with babies... :D

Taylor86 04-12-2008 10:15 PM

Well...I "cheated" today.

I had a chioptle burrito for lunch. No use beating myself about it. I have a great last 12 days and have made some wonderful strides. I have said no to bread baskets, cheesecake, wine, burgers and yes to working out, cooking and being happy.... and today I said yes to a burrito.

I didn't kill today off either. I ended it with a chicken recipe from my new WW cookbook.

Tomorrow is a new day and I will say yes to the treadmill.

RememberHowToSmile 04-12-2008 10:51 PM

Woo Hoo I biked 8.05 miles today!!! :cb:

I just want to say on the dress thing, I agree with Cookie that you should not buy one too small and just hope that you fit into it. It puts added stress on you and leads to disappointment on the day of if it doesn’t fit. Either wait until closer to the day and buy the dress if you can or find a good (and I mean ask other people for personal recommendations) seamstress and get it taken in. Better to big then too small. I have a formal wedding this summer (end of July) and my 14 dress that I bought for my last formal wedding is big so I’m waiting until like mid July to get the dress (or hopefully steal one of my sisters if I’m down that far).

Tara – I understand what you were saying this was the first time I was able to hold him without tubes and stuff, he was in NICU for the first 18 days. And although I don’t want a baby right now I love spending time with them.

Taylor – Cheating is ok once in a while.

Good morning all!! Ah, Sunday morning -- I have a cold so I had canned soup for breakfast, and I'll likely be having the same all day. And oranges, and orange juice. I can't believe how often I've been sick the past few months. Stupid stress.
And I have a paper to write, and other work to do...grrr....

remember -- way to go on the long bike ride!! that is fantastic!
Cookie -- excellent advice on the dress shopping. you are so right on the added stress. i remember years ago (the first time I did WW), I was working toward losing for a trip to Bahamas, but the stress totally backfired on me and I just binged and gained and spent the time less happy than I would have been otherwise.
Taylor -- nice work with the burrito attitude!!! Nothing wrong with a burrito now and then, especially when you don't like it derail you. Sounds like you are doing a great job with the weight loss!
targettingthin -- you are making me realize that I need to spend time with my brand new niece -- she is about 3 weeks now...
sexbroke -- yay on the sizes!! funny, I did the same thing yesterday, shopped at TJMaxx just to see what size I am!
Oolong -- that is just the worst when people make anuy sort of comments like that! I'm sorry, but a comment like that would have really steamed me.

I had a crappy past week with jury duty and missing class and just plain being lazy. The weather here doesn't help much either. This weekend I was supposed to work Saturday and Sunday but thankfully I weaseled my way out of working. Now, two of my guinea pigs are running around my room and I'm contemplating whether or not to just suck it up and go for a bike ride in the yucky wind or just go to the Y.
