Default Fat Girl: A True Story

Has anyone here read Judith Moore's Fat Girl: A True Story

Her explanation "why I wrote Fat Girl" really hit me. I want to read the book.

There's an excerpt from the book here .

WOW!!!!

Was that powerful or WHAT???
Ouch...

I think I'd like to read that too...as torturous as it would surely be.

Just that description nearly made me cry...

Thanks for the info. Kimberley!

This is another book I have on order from the library. I, too, expect it will very tough to read in places, but I'm going for it anyway.

I read a different excerpt at Amazon.com -- she sure doesn't pull any punches. I like an honest book, even if it hurts.

Very stark and very powerful. I will go to Chapters and check it out. I agree it will be a hard read, but honest.

Oooh, that was tough. I wonder how you ever begin to block out those memories?

Sometimes remembering them reminds why I am finally doing this for myself...

I don't really know how I feel about that book. Being overweight isn't fun but I seriously don't remember ever going through anything that bad. She seems really honest but also kind of negative. I might try to read it but I'm trying to be more upbeat and positive so I may not. If anyone finishes it, lemme know how it was... thanks!

HMMM. I put it on the list to request from the library. I too like a truthful author and it sounds like it will be an interesting read if nothing else.

I am feeling nauseated from reading it--not because the author is fat, but from the beatings.....too close to home for me, I think.

Ooooh, thanks for the suggestion Kimberley! I just put in my request from the library since they don't currently carry it. I can't wait to get started, it looks so compelling!

Whoa...what can you say to that?!! I grew up as the original Fat Kid on the Block, but at least I had two parents that loved me. Really makes you look back and count your blessing!
