hi, Mez! Thanks for getting us started. Today I did power yoga. I was planning to do step aerobics but I'm so bad at laundry, I couldn't find any clean socks. So I did power yoga, which I like, but not as much as step aerobics. Tonight I'm doing some laundry!

Ok, short re-cap. I gained a pound over the holidays putting me from 195 to 196. I went to the gym tonight and stepped on the scale. I was at 195! I was thrilled. Now, I am hoping since that is a night weigh (I range from 4-5 pounds heavier) that when I do a morning weigh I am going to see a nice loss. I'm crossing my fingers. I at least know I lost my holiday one pound.

I kicked into high gear tonight:

Elliptical: 4 miles in 38min 42sec. (cardio) I got another 1/2 mile in but felt like I was going to throw up, and I figured that would not be to cool in front of the folks at the gym. I called it quits and came home. I'm so tired of being sick I thought I might sweat it out. Maybe I will see some improvement.

Amy Jo, sorry to here about your bad knee I figure that is pretty painful. And really painful trying to exercise. Even if it was only half of your ususal plan it certainly is better than nothing at all.

Darlene, I have never tried any yoga, it just looks like something that would bore me silly. I'm a bit hyper. Maybe I'm missing something and you can clue me in on it.

Jacque, Welcome!! We are glad to have you. I bet you felt great after working out. I know that sometimes getting the motivation to workout is the hardest part of it. I always love how I feel afterwards.

Mez, you feeling better today?

I'm back in my workout mode (finally!) and I went to Curves for their 30 minute workout and rode my exercise bike for 1 hour.

Everyone is doing great!

Tammy if you only gained 1 lb over the holidays that is fantastic. I don't really want to know what I gained over the holidays. I never weighed myself after I had my dd in November and I went crazy in December.

Today I did 45 mins
for 15 mins
walked with my son for 25 mins

Ah Tammy, that's excellent distance especially for being sick! I hope you feel better.

Amy Jo, congrats on being able to get back! It's still excellent progress, even if it's half your workout (wow! one heck of a workout you have too! )

Darlene, what's power yoga? It sounds like fun!

Melissa, how do you like curves? Congrats for getting back on the exercise track

Jacque, I'm glad you found us too! Congrats to you too. So many back-in-the-saddle exercisers! Yay!

Today was 20 minutes cross trainer, 20 minutes upper body weights, and 20 minutes elliptical for me. I probably should have put more oomph into it, but I was whiny about going for some reason.. today was one of those days I had to drag myself (thank god those don't come too much anymore, it used to be every day! Lol)

I overslept today so I didn't get my step aerobics in. I'm going to try to have my mom watch my son tonight so I can squeeze it in. Last night I did the Method show, so I got in a little extra.

Tammy and Dana, I do the Yoga Zone's Power Yoga tape, but only the first half, then savasana (corpse pose) at the end. It's more vigorous than most yoga. The part I do is a sun salutation series, and I end up pretty sweaty by the end. I LOVE yoga, so Tammy maybe it's not for you, but it sounds like you got a great thing going with your workout!

It sounds like everyone's doing well with their exercise! Way to go!

Cool Kaboose Definately Needs Work

Morning All

As if being a 43 year old asthmatic than needs to lose 110 wasn't enough of an indicator that I have let myself go, I topped off my first day on SBD with a little treadmill action, and I do mean a little. . . .

Last night at 6:00pm (est), My 17 year old son escorted me to the complex work-out room. He showed me how to work the panel on the treadmill and set the speed to a pace that was a little faster than I normally walk. I thought to myself since it was my first time out I would do 15 mins and then add a few more mins each time until I got up to 30 mins HAHAHA!!!!! I made it 9.5 minutes. (how humiliating).
Afterwards, as I was catching my breath my son walks up, with my inhaler in hand and ask "Mom, how long has it been since you really exercised?" I thought for a moment then replied "How old are you?"

The amazing thing is that instead of being discouraged the whole humiliating scene made me want to exercise more instead of give up. Imagine that.

After reading these Kaboose post I must say you guys are awesome

Good for you, kkayp! My sister has a lung ailment that left her with only 50% lung capacity. She started out only able to walk the treadmill for about 5 minutes. A year and a half later, she walks 45 minutes a day and has lost 150 pounds. You can do it! What's that cliched adage? A journey of 1000 miles starts with one step? We're all behind you!

Wow you guys really got moving. YEAH YOU!!!

Gypsydancer - I've been meaning to pickup on of those power yoga dvd's. Is there a big difference between that and reg. I've only did reg. a few times.

Ivanna B. Skinny - Great workout! It good your not pushing your knee. I did once and it's still not 100%. I have bad knees from way back. Howie told me about Glucosamin Sulfate (1000mg) and when I went to Wal-mart looking for it a lady that was also buying it swore by that and MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) 500 (mg) both are for bones and joints. I really think they are helping and the bottles weren't expensive.

Jacque - Happy workout dance for you!! Nice workout!!!

Tammy - I have my finger, toes and eyes crossed for you!! I bet your going to see a nice loss. Late night weight ins are always heavy for me. You kicked into BIG TIME HIGH GEAR! Geeeeeez you at you go!!!

melsfolly - I've noticed there seems to be alot of ppl that are using curves. I think I have one in my area... humm. Way to get moving.

moon puppy - Nice workout. I can't wait to get my treadmill back. It's in storage.

Sheila - I can relate to the brrr it's so cold here and there are so many icy sidewalks. I hear that the cold helps burn extra cals. because your body is trying to stay warm.

JennasMom - I bought yourself fitness. I loved it. I can't do it right now because I messed up my knee and the workouts are very hard on it. I do plan on getting back on it when it's 100%. I really enjoyed the workouts. I know you can skip certain things but I don't want to beable to do the whole workouts!

djs06 - I'm still in the whinny push myself to workout stage. I did have a few weeks where I couldn't wait to workout. I'm hoping to find that feeling again. I was just thinking and you know I don't have to push myself as hard as I did in the start. So maybe it does go way little by little. Good job pushing yourself you had a nice workout.

kkayp - I'm sooooooooooo Proud of YOU and YOUR SON! Take it slow and you'll get there. I don't see it as somthing to be humiliating but a step in the right direction that some ppl are afraid to take. Keep going!

As for me my infection is almost cleared up. I think is what made me dizzy. I think the sugur free candy I was eating was making me sick and go to the bathroom. (read those lables) Tammy thanks so much for keep check on me. After my workout Monday I went to sleep and didn't wait til 7 p.m. It's the 1st time I slept restfully in awhile. Today I'm going to try and get in a short workout. I had company this morning and my husband is going to be home soon so we can go to the doctor with my daughter. She is getting scraped today. She's not feeling well so they might admit her. I'll be back to update.
Here's my monday workout.

KK, I'm so glad that you got such good feelings after getting back into exercise. You have a great attitude!! You will be building up endurance more quickly than you think. Keep up the great work!!

Mez, I hope everything is ok with your daughter. Maybe because she is not feeling well she is going into labor. Let's hope.

Dana, I have temporaily quit doing weights. I have to see some weight loss. Not seeing any was playing tricks on my mind. I know that having muscle is way better than having fat and I know muscle weighs more, but I'm not happy sitting at the weight I am. I just can't look at this in a logical aspect and will take up the weights again when I am at a lower weight. I was not even doing a hard core program. I think I have one of those bodies that is really receptive towards weight training and I really have no doubts that even though I am a woman I could potentially bulk up. Am I being silly?
