curvynotlumpy: That sounds like a lot of fun!! How was it?

pinkstarberry: Welcome back! And ONE YEAR + 107 lbs!!!!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

suzukigurl: Good job fighting those cravings! And I am SO jealous of your AC right now!!!

---

No change today, which makes me both happy and sad. Ha! I am glad there wasn't a gain after the 'big' loss but, I am starting to think I won't make it to 2 lbs by Monday. Oh well... Life goes on. Yesterday we ended up swapping restaurants which was kind of good, since I don't think I would have been able to make 'smart choices' at an Italian restaurant (Pasta could easily be the bane of my existence). So we ended up in a sports bar type of restaurant. I had a "Blackened Chicken w/ almond rice and cowgirl salad", it wasn't very good. Ate most of the chicken (which I think was breaded?!? I don't know it was odd), a tad of the rice and barely touched the dressing drenched salad. Stuck to water as a drink and I did have desert (only like 3-4 bites).

So there's that... I'll do my best to stay on track today, with all the social things we have... Wish me luck! :x

DayDreamer26: You were totally right! And it looks like your change in calories helped restart your loss I totally hear you about the “smart choices at an Italian restaurant.” Pasta is totally my kryptonite, and I also find that restaurants almost always use too much dressing

Pinkstarberry: 107 lbs Wow!! That’s amazing, you should be very proud! Enjoy your visit with your family

Curvynotlumpy: Haha glad you like the phrase My friend came up with it (although I’m sure she got it off the internet somewhere lol), and I think it perfectly describes the physical and emotional symptoms hahaha. How was the movie? I hadn’t heard of it and had to look it up; it looks interesting

Tonight I'll have an orientee at work, so I'll definitely have to make sure I get up and go for walks since she'll pretty much be doing my job for me

bigjoe it is nice to see you again. I am very sorry for what your mother is going through and how hard it had been on your brother and your whole family. I hope you can find affordable assisted living for her with quality care. You have shown incredible strength in continuing to lose weight despite all of this stress and worry. What a great idea they had at your workplace to have a weight loss group. I wish you a lot of success in getting past the 275 mark.

Gemini6 is it the same injury plaguing you again? Hope the pain is manageable. Don't let your birthday celebrations derail you from your goal. You deserved a celebration and now you deserve to take care of yourself.

RunningRedHead hope the next three weeks of night shifts fly by so you can be a day person again and enjoy the sun. You are doing so well, those numbers are impressive!

DayDreamer26 great job on the loss, that calorie change made a difference.

pinkstarberry welcome back

suzukigirl way to go on resisting popcorn and other goodies at the cinema.

I've stayed on plan all week but we ate really late one evening and since then, the scale went up and has stayed up (sigh). I am annoyed.

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice weekend.

Good morning everyone!
It is hotter then heck here right now and that really puts a damper on my walks. I am working on my motivation to step up my workout but I'm just not there yet. I usually take nice long walks for my exercise right now but this heat is killing me. I really just need to get my motivation back dust off my gym bag and head to the gym on these hot days. I know I will get there... I've been really good sticking to my meal plans, I am really starting to lose my craving for the sweets/processed sugar treats. In fact I am really proud of myself. Yesterday my parents were over and everyone decided they wanted ice cream (well I should say my 8 year old decided for everyone that they wanted ice cream LOL) and I just said no I didn't want any. So as everyone was sitting around eating their yummy ice cream I had a banana and a few almonds. I didn't even feel deprived. It's small victories like this that mean the most to me right now!!!

Martine ~ I do my best to stay away from the late night eating but I know there are so many times it is just unavoidable. I'm sure the scale will budge for you shortly... good job staying on plan it will pay off in the long run!!!

DayDreamer26 ~ Italian is so hard for me right now too, I love love love pasta but need to just stay away from the carbs right now. Congrats for making the best choices you could with the menu you were given, all we can do is make the best choices we can while we are out and about this summer!!!

bigjoe - I use the "my fitness pal" (MFP) app to count calories. Generally I try to make healthy choices and eat protein/fats/carbs in a balanced amount. Most of my carbs are fruits and veggies. I bake my own bread and that's my only non-fruit/veggie carb. I aim for 30% for each proteins & fats and 40% carbs. This method has been super successful for me and if I don't slip back into a bad junk food habit then this method of eating is one I can easily live with. I don't feel deprived or tempted to start sneaking treats.

Suzuki - I'm totally with you about hot weather. I go out and walk after dark when it's cooler.

MFP just congratulated me on logging in for 150 days. Go me!

Hi everyone! Thanks for your kind words.

RunningRedHead – You are having an awesome month! WTG!!!

Vlada – Congrats on losing another pound and making 150 days of logging on MFP! I feel confident that you will definitely see Onederland this month. You got this!!!

Suzukigurl – Great job on avoiding all those movie snacks and the ice cream! You should be super proud. You are doing fantastic!!!

Pinkstarberry – Congrats on the huge accomplishment of 107 down! Also so happy that you have made so many great new changes in your life and wishing you the best!

Joe – Seems like we are always tweaking things to find or re-find that sweet spot to lose weight. I always have to count calories no matter what, but I think the best thing is to find something that works for you and that you can stick with most of the time.

DayDreamer – So great seeing your continued downward trend! You have been such an inspiration and I love that you can still eat things that are fun, but show such restraint with your portions. Only 3-4 bites of desert?! You deserve a medal. I think practicing portion control is key to meeting our goals and you really seem to have that mastered. I gotta ask – what is a cowgirl salad?

Curvy – I hope you enjoyed the movie and dinner! I think I spotted some new downward movement on one of our mutual challenges so great job lady!

Martine – Great job on making it through the week on plan! You know you did everything right, so we just have to wait on the scale to reward us for our hard work.

Have a great week everyone!

RunningRedHead: I completely forgot to ask for the dressing on the side, so I suppose it's on me. It wasn't too good anyway though. I might be craving pasta now... :x I should make some at home.

Martine: That happens to me way too often. I am most hungry after lunch. Sometimes by 6pm I have 1000-800 cals left... which is MOST of my calories. So I eat until midnight, and then... the scale shows it. It should come off though!

suzukigurl: NICE!!! suzukigurl vs Ice cream 1 - 0 !!! It's the small things! Always!!

Gemini6: OMG! You are so sweet!! Me an inspiration? Sometimes I think I am a complete mess! :x But thank you!! That definitely put a smile on my face. Portion control... I think it's harder for me to say I won't have any over I'll have a few bites. I tend to indulge in A LOT of things. If someone is eating fries, or chips or cookies... I'll try a TINY bite to get the craving off of me. It's VERY easy too when you have someone to shove your 'leftovers' to. :P My poor husband "shares" most of my cravings and he ends up eating more than half for me.

---

Yesterday was SO much fun!!! I was a bit scared over being out and about with friends all day but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I had my lunch before going out with people, so I watched them all eat their burgers. But I was so full... I did steal 1 1/2 fires off of someone.

We kept pretty busy during the rest of the day to worry much about food. I had packed some snacks and my dinner so I knew exactly what I was eating. It wasn't until the very end of the night that I actually went to the kitchen to see what there was there. Didn't even touch the pizza, I had a cookie and 3 tortilla chips. Other than a few bites of a custard bun and 2-3 almond cookies I had earlier, I was pretty good. Oh!!! I also had a few bites of cake!! It was SO yummy! I got this REALLY thin slice (pathetically thin, a sliver!! xD) and only ate half of it!

This morning weight was at 206.1 lbs. I was expecting something a bit lower, based on my weight before I went to bed, but oh well... I think that makes it 2 lbs from Monday!

Tonight we are going to a steak restaurant. Not sure what I'll be eating yet, but I made my husband promise he'd share with me. So I'll prob eat 1/3 of whatever he orders (I get full REALLY fast). I think there will be more cake tonight, yums! So I'll prob try that too, cause I like to try nummy things.

I think that's all. I'll have out of town guests next week and I am a bit terrified about that. I have the feeling there will be A LOT of eating out and stuff... probably fast food too. Since we'll be showing them around downtown (which is a bit far) and such, so lunch will most likely be on the go and dinner... I am not sure. I am VERY overwhelmed about it. :x

Martine: Thanks! I’m looking forward to it. And thank you for the kind words. Way to go staying on plan. It’s awful how eating late affects weight loss so much. Don’t let it derail you, your scale will catch up to reflect your hard work !

Suzukigirl: Way to go sticking to your plan! It’s a great feeling to be able to choose the healthier snack instead and not feel deprived! And I totally agree with you about the heat, it definitely makes it harder to get out there and walk. I try to walk when it’s cooler (at night like Vladadog sometimes) or if I’m working an overnight, early in the AM when I get home.

Bigjoe: I also use myfitnesspal and log everything I eat, even if it is as small as a tablespoon of ice cream (my achilles heel of dieting, especially now that it's hot out). I am doing a kind of modified low carb (definitely not an extremely low carb/keto). I eat carbs from produce, sometimes sweet potatoes and very rarely more starchy potatoes. I don’t eat bread, and if I do it’s a light/low carb version (which I try to avoid due to the added ingredients) because sometimes you just can’t eat another lettuce wrap . Now that I made it through the first week/week and a half, the cravings for sugary, processed junk food are starting to fade. I may not be the best person to answer since I just started getting serious again about the weight loss journey this month and it could just be beginners luck… although kind of sticking to this idea of a plan has worked for me in the past.

Vladadog: I’m a big fan of MFP and use the same 40/30/30 ratio as well. Congrats on your 150 days in a row of logging!

Gemini6: Great job sticking to your plan! It’s so hard to come up with a game plan moving forward when something like an injury sidelines you and gets in the way of your goals. Being aware of needing to be a bit stricter with your diet is key (and you're already doing that!!), but “they” say diet is responsible for the majority of your weight loss, right? You are definitely worth it and I do the same thing in “finding reasons to not get there.” Have a great week and good luck!

DayDreamer26: I’ve been a big fan of making zucchini noodles lately. I actually just made lasagna with zucchini instead of pasta… it’s a bit more work but tastes so good and is much lighter on the calories and carbs (plus you get your veggies in)! Way to go planning ahead for your day out (eating ahead) and satisfying cravings with small bites! That’s great. And congrats on your 2lb loss, you should be proud! Anything/anyone that may interfere with a well-made plan can cause a bit of anxiety, but you’ll make a plan and stick to it as best you can and as you’ve described in your last few posts! I find for long days, like what your describing with your out of town guests, it helps to have healthy snacks in my purse (something that won’t go bad like almonds or some sort of meal/snack bar) so that when you guys do get a chance to eat you won’t be ravenous and order everything you “shouldn’t eat” off the menu. Way to go this week so far!

With today’s weigh-in I am 1.5 lbs below my original starting weight from about a year ago when I decided I needed to become diligent about my weight loss. To realize at the end of May that I had topped out at almost ten pounds higher than was really an “a-ha” moment for me. Glad to at least be back down to where it all started. Still working on forgiving myself for the 20+ pound regain, but I’m getting there. You all are amazing and the support and accountability is making a world of difference! Okay, sorry for the super long post

Good morning everyone!
It was a really great weekend even though I had to work all weekend. Summer is definitely here to stay and the heat is here to stay.
Last night I noticed I was feeling very bloated and I think my "monthly reminder that I am a woman" will be here at any moment. The scale didn't budge a bit so I am sure it's all just water retention. I have not deviated from my plan at all so now I just need to keep motivated through the next few day even if I don't see a loss or gain a little. On a happy note one of my coworkers yesterday asked me if I had lost weight, she said she could really see it in my face, so that was really nice to hear. People usually don't notice anything until I have lost 20 - 25 lbs! She also noted that my skin look great, must be all the water I am drinking now! Well I need to get ready for work,
I'll hop back on later to read everyone's posts, hope you all have a great day!!!!

RunningRedHead: That sounds like a great idea! I'll probably try to pack my lunch when we are out and about. Thanks for all the encouragement though! That's great! Grats on reaching a new low too!

---

Yesterday was ... weird. So, I am usually not super hungry in the mornings, well... Yesterday I slept in a bit, and woke up around lunch time (oops!). We then had some things to do before our guests arrived so lunch was kind of... skipped. We had a dinner date too, so we didn't want to get too full.

As it turns out, I only had one big meal. I shared a plate with my husband, steak + mashed potatoes (I ate prob a 1/3 if that), had 2-3 slices of bread, a couple of spoonfuls of onion soup (with cheese noms!) and 1 bite of tiramisu (not my fav desert).
When we got home I had 1 cookie and some chips . That was pretty much it. I was expecting a bigger drop, but 205.7 this morning.

I am happy that I at least made it to the 2 lbs weekly rate I have as a goal. Looking at this month thus far, I don't think I'll manage to make it to Onederland. We are almost half way through June and I still got 5.7 lbs to go... Oh well... progress is progress. 205.7 is WAY better than 230 and even if I don't quite reach my long term goals by the dates I set, it will STILL be better than 230 lbs!!

I'll prob won't be very active this week, until next Tuesday or so... I'll do my best to be good. Wish me luck!

Hey all,

I realized I joined this thread on 5/31 not knowing that the very next day I would drive 12 hours back to Canada for a family emergency. Both my father and brother are terminally ill and I needed to go home to prepare for the worst. Unfortunately my brother died unexpectedly on the Sunday we drove back and I turned around to fly home to be with my mom. My dad is still hanging on, and it is only a matter of time; but I said my goodbyes to him and am at peace with whatever happens next.

Almost two weeks of travel along with no appetite resulted in not too bad a gain and I'm back on my plan. Slowly going to increase my activity level as the month progresses since I have done little to nothing since May 31st.

I cannot believe so much of the month has already passed, so here are my new stats:

5/31: 252
6/01: 249.5
6/05: 251.9
6/12: 249.4

I haven't had much of a chance to read the thread so far and am looking forward to see how June has been treating you all. I'll post when I can; I appreciate that you are here!
