Good Morning Everyone

Nothing to exciting happened yesterday, I'm still staying the course. It's strange to me to think I have gone about 3 weeks without any bread, pasta, rice, chips, sweets ect.... without any cravings. I've never tried a low card/no processed sugar eating plan before and it has been working out good for me so far. My sugar cravings used to be off the charts, I would literally obsess over what I would eat/snack on next. Now it's like oh yeah it's almost 2pm I haven't had lunch yet I better eat something. Now I know it hasn't even been a month yet but the first few weeks were usually the worst with cravings and they were almost gone in the first few days!!!

curvynotlumpy ~ I'm glad you are feeling better!!!

DayDreamer26 ~ Good for you for getting back on track only after a few days. It is too easy to turn 3 days into a week and so on. Sometimes a little cheating will get our body back to losing as long as we can stop the cheating and get back to business.

A small loss, but it’s in the right direction so I’ll take it I guess. The first two weeks went so well staying on plan, I’ve been struggling a bit this week with that. I’ve been falling back into old habits (eating too late, snacking on things out of boredom here and there, not taking in enough veggies), and this time around it’s getting a bit tougher to break out of the bad habits. I was actually surprised at how much I didn’t crave carbs/sweets in the beginning; it’s a little delayed in hitting me this week I think I understand we shouldn't deprive ourselves 100% as that can lead to bingeing or heading in the other direction, but I'm getting to a point where I'm thinking "I can have just a little bit" and it's turning into everyday thing. Working on recognizing it now and trying to take my own advice and go for a walk and drink a glass of water whenever I want some sweets to try and kickstart this a loss again Sorry for the bit of a rant, hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning

I hope everyone is doing well. Nothing much to report from my part of the world. Today was the first day of Transfer Orientation at my university. Our peers do a brief presentation for the students and we (career staff) do one for the parents. Later in the afternoon we facilitate a meet-up for our reentry population (students +25 years old). Thankfully, these are one day sessions and which we'll complete next Friday. It's not difficult work and it allows me to get steps in. However, I wish the weather was cooler. I feel for the students and their parents as they make their way around campus on what is expected to be a 109 degree day.

suzukigurl: That's so good to hear that your transition from carbs to lo carb has gone so well.

RunningRedHead: Your comments about "just having a little" ring so true for me. I can distinctly remember the day when I decided to have a chocolate milkshake in the heat of summer, getting on the scale the next day and seeing a loss. I thought I could eat anything and was untouchable! From that point on it was a series of "little" indulgences that have contributed to a 40 pound weight gain. You're very wise to recognize this now.

Curvynotlumpy: You hit the nail right on the head with seeing a drop on the scale after eating ice cream (it’s always ice cream with me lol) and thinking it’s something that will happen every day It’s what got me in the past with all the weight gained and lost and regained. Recognizing the cycle is one of the first steps right? I also just got back from the grocery store and decided to pick up some Halo Top ice cream.. I’ve never tried it before, but i'm hoping it will satisfy that craving for something cold and sweet and be a little less calorically dense. Glad you get to sleep in during these sessions. I feel for the students and parents in that heat too, I remember thinking that my orientation to college was too hot at 85 haha.

suzukigurl: Those are great NSVs!! You are doing so well! Well... I didn't really feel very good cheating and I even got nauseous on Monday and couldn't stomach lunch. So, I guess that helped. :P

opheliaphoenix: It's hard to get back on track after slacking, but I have a very optimistic goal for September/October and if I slack too much I won't reach it. I remind myself that as often as I can. Usually long term goals don't keep me motivated since they are "so far away" but this time it seems to be working. You are doing great! Don't be so harsh on yourself! Drink tons of water and I am sure those extra pounds will drop right off!

RunningRedHead: I refuse to deprive myself or everything. I have tried that a thousand times in the past and I'd last 1 week on those plans. I had carrot cake last night, a tiny sliver of it (3 bites maybe?), and it was so noms! If my husband is eating something nummy I'll often ask for a tiny bite. I do this almost everyday. Most of the time I don't even bother with the calories since, I try to keep it to tiny bites, just to taste it type of thing. So, if you think you can control yourself to take just 1-2 bites, then I'd say go for it.

curvynotlumpy: Glad to hear you feel better and don't rush back into physical activity if you don't feel well enough. The nurse made such a huge deal about it too, it made me feel really good! Like, 'Someone noticed!!! !!!".

---

Yesterday was... fun! Went to the mall to pick something I had ordered back and got stuck in traffic both ways! On the way back there was an accident on the hwy and there was a 30+ min delay... Ended up taking a detour through residential roads. Food wise, I was pretty good, thought I did eat a bit of carrot cake! It was nummy! I don't think I drank enough water though, since I was out and about.

The scale was pretty nice to me today, 203.7!!! Let's see how much more I can drop this week, I was hoping for 2.4 yesterday so that leaves me with another 1.5 to go. :P I think it's nearly impossible to reach my 200 lbs goal this month, but I'll still try to get as close to it as I can!

DayDreamer26: That’s a good point, thanks for the great advice I’m getting better about only taking a few bites of something, but sometimes the old habit of gorging comes out... it’s getting better but not there 100% yet

Hydration wasn’t so great the last couple of days, but that will be better the next couple of nights, as it’s back to work until Monday AM. *last three overnight shifts* After that I get to have normal hours, hopefully get into a natural sleep pattern, and actually see the sun!

Hello Everyone

Well this morning I said screw it LOL I went to the store bought myself a new gym bag and workout pants and said the only way I can buy these cute pants is of I wear them to workout. I came home got ready and went!!!! Like I said it felt so awesome but boy oh boy am I out of shape 10 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the elliptical (only on level 3) but I guess I have to start somewhere.

and happy Friday!

Before I get too far along HUGE and to suzukigurl for conquering her gym fear and getting in a morning workout! Doesn't it feel fantastic to break through that barrier? Now, you can begin a whole new routine for yourself. BTW, a thirty-minute workout is perfect for your first time out! The elliptical is my favorite gym machine

bigjoe: You're doing great! That scale keeps on moving in the right direction

RunningRedHead: I think once your normal schedule is in place you'll get your bearings and your , water and will fall easily into place. Here's to your last three overnight shifts

I am happy to that it has finally cooled down here and while it is still warm, it doesn't feel like I'm living and working in a blast furnace. Looking forward to the weekend. I have errands that I need to complete, and I'm prepping for cleaning and organizing project in my garage. I purchased ten nineteen-quart storage containers for some very specific things. My goal is to make sure I have everything in place so I can begin said project next Friday when my vacation begins. I may be motivated enough to begin this weekend. One never knows

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Traveller: Hope it show you some progress when you check again at the end of the month. Fingers crossed for you.

RunningRedHead: Thank you! And, I'm dealing with the same things this week now that I am back...I didn't run into too many cravings when I first started, but - after falling off the wagon during the moving process and coming back - it has been a lot harder this time around. My biggest things are carbs...I just want to eat ALL the carbs lately, and it's been a struggle to ignore that. Haha. Here's to a better week for us both next week!

curvynotlumpy: It's been a slower re-adjustment that what I was hoping for, but I'm taking it day by day! And, we had our first storm here the other night, but it was just a small one that passed through quickly. The monsoons should be here sometime in July, at least that is what everyone has been saying. Can't wait, lol. Also, I agree about the Flagstaff area being much prettier! The northern part of Arizona is a completely different experience than the southern part. If I'd had a choice on where we lived within the state of Arizona, it would have definitely been up there instead. It's much closer to the kind of environment I prefer, which is definitely not the desert...lol. I am glad you're feeling better by the way! I hadn't read back through all the pages I'd missed yet, so I only knew from the comments on this page how bad it had been for you.

suzukigirl: I'm glad you're not being plagued by the intense cravings -- I love when that flick of the switch happens...it really makes the whole living healthier thing so much easier. I'm hoping that flick happens again for me soon, because I seem to have reactivated most of my cravings while I was away, and it's been a beast to ignore...still doing my best, though! You're doing great, and good job on getting back to the gym!

DayDreamer26: I am definitely going to focus on the water today, because I didn't drink nearly enough yesterday, and it came back to bite me big time by the evening. Hoping to avoid that urge to give in by making sure to stay hydrated today! Sorry about all the traffic yesterday, but glad the scale was nice to you this morning to make up for it a little...lol.

---------------------------------------

I could have sworn I weighed in yesterday, but apparently I didn't. I think my days are still running together a little bit...lol. But, today's weigh-in was down a little more to 228.0 today, despite eating over a 2k calories yesterday due to giving in to a late night snack while watching TV again. I can already tell that is going to be my biggest drawback, so I'll have to renegotiate our Netflix hours again and see if I can adjust that any. That being said, I got my steps in yesterday while out mapping the new neighborhood for my walks. I only got in about 3.5 miles before coming home, but it's a start! I think that helped mitigate my calorie overload a little. Going to try to do better on my water today and see if that will help lessen how hungry I am feeling before bedtime.

RunningRedHead: Practice makes perfect !

suzukigurl: That's great! Congrats!!!!

opheliaphoenix: Yay! another loss!! Have you tried brushing your teeth at night, when you are done eating. That has helped me avoid late snacking in the past. Or maybe reserve a few calories for TV time? Maybe 200 or so? You could have an apple and PB or something.

---

Yesterday I was sooo good.... until late. I had like 380 calories left and I was considering just going to bed, since it was pretty late and I didn't want to affect today's weight. Well, as it turns out... I ended up at a drive thru at 1:30 am with some friends. I had a small bag of fries and 2 mini churros. We ended up talking in one of the cars for like 1h.

I tried to drink before bed to counter the salt, I was honestly expecting a gain. But, 202.8 this morning!! Getting closer and closer to Onderland! Woke up with a horrible head ache and it won't go away. I should drink more water perhaps.

This will be quite an eventful weekend. I'm trying to keep it light today, since we'll be going out for dinner tonight (not sure where yet). I'll do my best to be good.

Good morning

I hope everyone's Saturday is off to a good start. Just back from the Farmers Market where I bought a small bag of potatoes, tomatoes, Bing cherries and zucchini. I also have fresh green beans that I purchased earlier in the week. I'll roast some of the veggies and prep for other dishes with the remainder. While I'm not a hot weather person I summer for all the fruit and vegetable offerings the season brings.

opheliaphoenix: I think mapping your neighborhood and getting to know it is the perfect way to get your steps in. Two birds, one stone as the saying goes.

DayDreamer26: You are very close to Onderland. Keep up the good work!

A great day to all.

Hi everyone,

This week has been very busy so I haven't had time to check in! I went hiking last weekend - one 3.5 mile hike and one 4.5 mile hike. There were lots of steep inclines and I was feeling it in my calves for several days. Well, on Sunday morning before going on the hike, I was 310. Monday morning, it said I was 316. I thought perhaps I was retaining fluid. However, on Tuesday I bumped the scale into a slightly different spot and it gave me a very different weight! I tried moving it around and discovered that in a fairly small area, the scale would give me a value anywhere from 308 to 320, depending on where it was placed. So I have no idea what I actually weigh right now, but the scale is telling me 316 still when in its usual place. Guess I need to shop for a scale!

I've also been missing my step goal most days. I started a new summer job, and it has mostly been sitting or standing around for training, paperwork, etc. and I haven't had time to make up the steps in the evening. I have been eating well, though, and staying well below the number of calories I burn, with the exception of yesterday (lots of pizza). So I have no idea why I apparently gained back 2 - 3 weeks of weight loss seemingly overnight. I'm actually drinking tons of water, so I shouldn't really be retaining any. I don't think I could have built up several pounds of muscle so fast, but I suppose it's a possibility. I think after this post, I'm going to find my measuring tape and my list of measurements from several months ago and see if anything has changed.

curvynotlumpy: Oh that sounds fun! I love going to the Farmer's Market!! Everything they have always looks so nummy!! To be honest I can't wait until fall, and pumpkin patches!!! Yes, I think I am still a kid at heart. :P

OrionNebula: Oh scales.... I have gotten to a point in my life where as long as it's going down, I don't care if it's the "exact" weight. If under the same circumstances and with the same equipment it's consistently showing a downward trend on the long term, then I am happy. Most scales will show different weight depending on how you stand on it, if you stand straight or lean forward/backwards, etc.. Make sure it's set even on the floor and that it's batteries are good. If it's still acting up then maybe you should replace it.

My husband keep trying to convince me we need a new scale because ours shows different weight if you stand on it over and over... but I feel like there will be a discrepancy in my morning weight ins if I do. So I have been holding off.

Yesterday went pretty well. I tried to keep my calories to a minimum and save up for dinner. Had some cereal and milk for lunch and I think that was it. We ended up at Cheesecake Factory and after 2 very confused waiters told me they didn't have a nutritional information menu and that the calories were in the normal menu... they finally remembered and brought it to me (I kept insisting because I had been to a different one and they did have it).

Anyway, I had around 1,000 cals left so I splurged! Ate half of the Chicken Bellagio (except the prosciutto) and tool the other half home. Eating 1 slice of bread and a tad of butter, dinner amounted to 680 cals. Then, I shared some Ben and Jerry's but didn't eat a lot of it, definitely less than half. I logged it at 3 Tbsp of each flavor. :P

Over all, I think I was pretty good. I was a bit worried over the amount of sodium dinner had and was half expecting a gain today... But nope! 202.6 lbs! It keeps going down down doooown!! I guess this last week of June is to make up for the terrible rest of the month.

Oh, also the dress I wore (size 16) was super loose around my chest! Which made me very happy, but kind of sad at the same time... because I liked that dress, and it did feel a bit awkward. But, who cares?! I am shrinking!!!
