Love the reality check!! Its so so true!!
My day yesterday went good and I didnt give into stress eating. Hoping for another great day of eating and exercise today!!

Beverlyjoy 06-06-2012 10:04 AM

Hi relosers: Yesterday was mostly OP. Once again it was right before bedtime that got me. I was able to use my resistence techniques many times throughout the day. But, was not willing enough at bedtime.

One of my main goals for today will be to NOT add in a bunch of unplanned food in the evening, espcecially. DH had a dark chocolate candy bar in the freezer. There was a half a bar. I have planned for some - but, ate the rest. *sigh*. They I ate some dry cherrios. Not the worse things to eat, I know. However, it makes me feel bad because it felt bingey.

Wednesday is my official weigh day. I am trying to get used to weighing daily and get used to the daily fluctuations. This is very hard for me. I can become so obsessed with what the number says. This week my weight has fluctuated between 216 & 211. Today the scale said 212..... so I got to change my ticker. Down three pound from 215 last Wednesday. :) Each morning before I step on the scale I keep saying... this is just information - this number doesn't have to 'make or break' your day.

All this being said... my usual MO is to have a binge on official weigh in day, if I lose. After all... I have a whole week until it's official again. NOT!!!! I swear, if I have to duct tape my mouth I will not binge tonight. (or today)

Some credits:
planned/measured/logged - until bedtime
ate seated mostly
no seconds
slow down sometimes
lots of water
weighed
took three deep breaths and my 'mantras' before a snack or meal
read arc
Must get the Beck book out today and move forward.

planting/gardening is such good exercise. Plus... you've planted some wonderful healthy foods. Carry on!

dgrammie - kudo's for resisting stress eating!!! YAY

Today is a quiet, at home day. Mostly writing and office work.

Have a great day, friends.

^THIS IS FANTASTIC!^ Thanks for sharing it, Beverlyjoy!

I'm still plugging along and hoping for some movement on the scale this week. I ended yesterday waayyyy under my calorie goal after a light dinner to accommodate D21's plan so I had to scramble to to find healthy snacks to get me over the 1000 mark.

The weather here is still cold and wet and I'm doing my best to stay clear of comfort foods. I can avoid those carbs most of the time but find portion control really hard once I have a taste.

I hope everyone is having a great OP day

Discouraged

Thanks. Beverlyjoy for the story, very helpful.

I am up a pound and a half. Not fair I have been so careful, counting every calorie and log it in. It is just so discouraging. Exercise is still no motivation. I am just feeling so down. Today is my kids last day of school for the summer and I just can not face it. I am not sleeping well and do not know why. That may be the problem.

Love to hear your stories. Thanks for sharing. Have a good day. Lsfunky

LSFUNKY ~ 1.5 lbs is more than likely just water fluctuations, esp since you have been staying on plan -- exercising and hormones can cause that at any time. Just keep plugging away, and the scale will head downwards eventually. Yes, you do need to get proper sleep too. Gee, your kids finish school earlier than here (by at least 2 weeks). Hey, how about heading down to the local park or beach -- that's what we did almost every day when we were young. We used to have picnics too ...

BEVERLYJOY ~ evening snacking was one of my issues too; I now have something light (i.e. protein), and turn in early to read, then go to sleep earlier -- which has been helping a lot. Congrats on those 3 lbs -- that just goes to show that 90% is still effective for weight-loss.

That doctor that said to weigh-in every 3 weeks said the reasons were 1) to avoid hormone & water fluctuations; 2) to be sure of a loss by then; 3) to make sure we couldn't cheat just after weighing-in becuz the dates always changed each month ... Sometimes, they would cancel on me to get me to come in earlier or later; I suspected that was one of the reasons too. ;)

SUE ~ I have to watch that carby snack thing too; so I try to have things that won't start a binge: carrots, fruit, yogurt, chz, etc.

 DGramie ~ glad things are going well for you ... :D

Planted some more lettuces today (just different varieties) & some summer turnips; plus some perennial flowers too. Then we watered the gardens. Next we'll transplant the berry bushes, then do one barrel at a time -- I am spreading them out during June so they sprout at different times. We've had some really nice weather this week so far -- in the 70's with a few sprinkles here & there.

Have a great OP week everyone ... :flow1:

My garden is looking good but my tomatoes still show no signs of rippening. Its normal here not to get a ripe tomato till near the fourth of july. My cherry tomatoes should be ready before that. My bell peppers and just getting leafy but not really getting much taller. I have a few blooms starting. My squash is getting huge but no blooms yet. I can hardly wait for veggies.
Food is good right now and I hope I can continue it through the weekend.

I am jealous of those of you who can grow vegetables. My yard is almost completely shade, so vegetables are right out. My sister and I participate in a local CSA, though, so I get weekly deliveries of fresh, delicious vegetables from a local farm. It's been making this whole sort-of-veganism experiment a lot easier.

I dropped three pounds overnight to finally break the 192 mark (I'm at 190.2 as of this morning) so I guess the quasi-veganism finally kicked in. It's also doing things to my sinus issues, so I'm willing to stick with the experiment and see where it takes me.

I haven't been checking in again because work is crazy this week, and they're starting to crack down on frivolous internet usage as well, so I'm trying to set a good example and stay off the internet. When I get home I'm too tired to do much besides make dinner and read, so I've been neglecting the boards again.

I've also been neglecting my cardio (though I've kept up with my strength training program) so my goals for next week are more cardio and more regular updates here. Even if this is the only thread I can handle at the moment, I need to make the time.

I was going to post this same response! My "gardens" are filled with hostas and ferns and are very woodland-esque. I have a little sun in the front, but I like my lawn too much to put a veggie garden in the front of my house so the farm stand it is for me!

I found I'm letting the carbs creep back into my daily diet. I've been keeping below my calorie max, but I'm feeling the difference. After 2 days with minimal carbs I feel better and have lost a pound. I don't know how I ever let myself get back on this merry go round. I can maintain with carbs, but it's very difficult for me to lose. I've also really been slacking on water consumption. I think that ends my confessions for today ;)

Funky, I agree with Rosebud. That's just water or something temporary. If you've been OP you'll see the perma-change soon! My weight fluctuates so much for no reason that I never know what's real and what's not - hence my "2 day rule" of never logging a weight change unless it's been consistent for 2 days. This keeps me sane. sort of.:dizzy:

The weather is finally clearing here after more than a week of rain. I'm really looking forward to walking at lunchtime again, I find I'm really missing it!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Hi... Yesterday was a very good food day. (about 95% op) I am grateful. I wanted to eat alot extra unplanned food in the evening, but, I used some of my resistence techniques and went to bed early. Of course, that means I got up earlier. But, because I take some morning medicine on an empty stomach and have to wait one hour before I eat.... this is helpful to me not getting up and just wanting to start eating right away.

I accomplished many goals:
planned/measured/logged food eaten
lots of water.
exercise
meditation
always left a bite
ate seated, mostly
no seconds
ate a bit slower
weighed - down

I do need to read my cards and book more consistently.

Today I go to see the orthosist (SP?). She's the lady who fitted me for my last ankle brace. I had trouble wearing it and ended up putting it away. She said I need a 1/4 in. lift in my right shoe under the brace. My doctor says no... I need a lift in my left shoe. So who to believe... the doctor (who beleives he knows what is really best for the desired outcome) or the lady (who's made and fitted these for 20 years)? It's put me in a quandary. BTW - this woman is someone that was very highly recommended to me.... not the usual person the doctor has used. hmm.... We'll see. I need to figure it out because my old ankle brace is not doing it's job.

Gotta go. I hope you all have a GREAT day. Treat yourself as kindly as you would a good friend.

dgramie 06-08-2012 07:04 AM

recording is working..lost 2lbs this week. That makes a weight loss two weeks in a row..woohoo!!

mahtha 06-08-2012 11:13 AM

Good morning everyone

dgramie, congrats on another great loss!

Beverlyjoy, way to go on another day OP. You're doing a great job not giving in to those night time temptations. :cheer:

Caroline, it's nice to see you back here, we've missed you :)

I saw the scale budge yesterday, but still no real movement. I'm hoping for 2 pounds this week since I've been really strict (and it's been a while since I lost more than a fraction of a pound). I've finally said goodbye to all my date-related goals having come to grips with the fact that my body decides when it's gonna let go and I have very little say in it. That said, I'm still working toward a 155 goal someday...

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Friday!

Justwant2Bhealthy 06-08-2012 03:31 PM

DGRAMIE ~ I agree -- journaling what you eat really does make you aware of how much you are eating every day. I had stopped for a brief while a couple of years back, but started again simply becuz it works. When you don't track, you can slip into continuous munching all day long and get way off plan. Plus, look how it is helping the weight-loss too ... :D

I am doing a combination of gardening: in raised beds, half barrels, and pots & planters. We are trying this for our first summer here to see how it goes. We went shopping today, and SIL was commenting on how high some foods are getting -- I am just skipping some things altogether now and switching to more whole foods and lean meats. I went hunting for "special sales" today and was very successful too. ;)

Sooo, I got lots of walking in for me today; time to rest now. It's lovely and :sunny: here. Gonna go enjoy our lovely deck for awhile. Have a great day everyone ... :flow1:

RELOSERS OH MY GOSH.

I haven't been here for ages. I hadn't weighed myself for ages. I've been depressed because of, well, everything. I've been at home. I've not been eating much except buckets of self-pity.

And then today I step on the scales - I don't know why - and it tells me (after the calculations) I'm now a whole flippin' 10 pounds down from my restarting weight.

I'm so taking it.

At least now I actually have an incentive to get on and make that food plan, huh.

Ok I'm going to read back on everyone's updates but I wanted to get this out :^:

dgramie 06-09-2012 07:38 AM

Thank God we didnt buy groceries yesterday. I had a horrible craving for something sweet and salty last night and had nothing in the house!! Went to bed and today the craving is gone! Tom is arriving early this month...JOY!!

mahtha 06-09-2012 09:58 AM

Good morning everyone

Welcome back salsa! I hope that whoosh is a new beginning on your wl journey. You CAN do this!

dgramie, I went to bed early last night to avoid ice cream cravings! I had a very light lunch at noon and dinner at 8. By 10 I wanted MORE despite not really being hungry. I hope someday I can get past needing a distraction to avoid eating, but right now I'll do whatever it takes.

I'm packing fabulous southwest salads for a beach outing today so I have no choice but to stay OP. Still hoping good decisions bring good results soon, I'd love to see the low 190s by the end of the month.

I hope everyone has a great day!
