WOOHOO! I am glad you #1 decided to try even after the back injury, and #2 found it easy!!! That's awesome. Are you still challenging yourself?
I have been running hard for the last min of the workout just to push myself. I am going to continue the program and not get ahead of myself. When is your next day?
It's supposed to be today. I've got this head cold though, and I don't know if that's a good reason to miss today or not. I haven't counted myself out today, but I haven't tried yet either. Ugh! I don't want to get off track.... I am just confused!!
Jen- resting 2 days is fine- Number one rule in Running is to ALWAYS listen to your body. If you need to get in your exercise and running is not an option because of pain/soreness- then try the elliptical- running motion but much more gentle on the joints.
Week 4 Day 2 done! My pace was a tad slower with my cold, but I don't care!!! I love it!
My 2 favorite running songs at the moment are
"Jump" by Van Halen and
"Hot n Cold" by Katy Perry
Good Job, just to finish a workout is a victory. As for music I listen to Hard Alternative Rock when running, namely Tool, Danzig, Okkervil River, Etc... stuff to get me hype. Now on inbetween days I have been getting in a Infared Sauna (600 calories in 30 min) and then I listen to stuff like Coldplay, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, etc. Stuff to relax me.
Happy Tuesday everyone! Who's scheduled to run today?
I was able to make it to the gym again, so I did a Zumba class for the first time ever. What a BLAST!!! And the hour went by SO fast.
I am looking forward to my run tomorrow. I have really started to crave the runner's high I get at the end. I can't believe I will finish Week 4 tomorrow. That's just insane to me that I have come this far! Woohoo!!!
Congrats DaddyO, justErin, TwinMomma, and Grumbleworts on the running!
I increased my running to 4.3 mph from 4.2 last week, and am now running 20 mins at two minute intervals and then recovering for one minute. I then did 20 mins on the epiliptical machine. And then did free weights. I felt really tired afterwards..hehe.
justErin, I usually take one day of rest between running. I know that interval training is really hard on the legs, and on the system, but I believe it is a good way to work up to consistent jogging, and for building your cardiovascular output. Any input from other runners on this? Did you all start with intervals as well?
Have a good week everyone! Happy running!

Love your speed!!! I am keeping it under 4 right now, but I can't wait to break it!!!! Great job!!!
Erin,
We are pretty close, although I'm 5'4 but I am with you
I'm no where's near either but hoping to get there soon. I walk 3 miles on HILLS around my house and it still KILLS me lol
but soon I will be able to add another 1/2 mile HUGS chickadee
I just got done with Week 5 Day 1. I LOVE it. It feels great to do something for yourself anyway, but the running for me is such a major accomplishment! Every single run is more than I ever thought I could do 6 weeks ago. It's neat to be your own inspiration and motivation.
And I am sure this is going to jinx it for Monday (my official weigh day), but the scale said 245 this morning!!!! Keep your fingers crossed it stays there. (lower would be okay, too!)
