lunch - turkey and lite cheese, mustard, spaghetti squash with parm cheese, icbinbs

snack - banana fiber muffin

dinner - cheese toast, tomato soup, green beans

snack - rice cakes, lc cheese, apple

I need to get back to my journalling and keeping track of the behaviors I am working on.

Have a GREAT day.

mj5 11-01-2010 10:22 AM

Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing well. I am leaving EARLY tomorrow am for a conference. I will be gone until Friday. I am excited about the conference (it's at a resort), but concerned about food. There will be lots of healthy choices, but most meals are a buffet and there will be even more unhealthy choices there. I had a great chat w/ my wellness coach last week to prepare, so I am going to do my very best to stay OP. I am also taking workout clothes so I can either go for walks or hit the gym (they have a gorgeous gym!)

I haven't decided if I am taking my laptop or not. If I do, I will be able to check in each day and I will! If not, I'll catch up w/ everyone this weekend after I get home!

Beverlyjoy 11-01-2010 10:25 AM

Safe travel MJ - My approach to buffets now are to scope it all out and take only ONE plateful (all healthy or perhaps include one little special food) and no seconds allowed. It actually has helped.

Glad you are taking your workout clothes.

Enjoy the conference.

lottie63 11-01-2010 10:53 AM

Hello everyone,

Well, I live right off campus in a collegey part of town, so we just have sluts and frat boy idiots running around on Halloween so there is no threat of having candy around. ha. Which is good.

The last week has gone well, on plan, lost 2 lbs, ( 5 total since I've returned :) ) and I have been REALLY busy the past week and still managed to stay On Plan which is when I seem to have a problem. hecticness does not go well with my food plan.

I work today, so I'm just eating some pb and j before I leave and having a very very late lunch, then a very late dinner later on. ha. bf is bringign groceries home tonight!

Slashnl 11-01-2010 12:34 PM

Hi everyone. Well, October is over and that is one busy month for me. I'm ready to settle back into my routine and do some concentrating on me and my goals. It kind of took a back seat last month, but that's done now. Moving forward!

Beverly - Good plan to do the journaling. I'm trying to get the dust off my notebook and get it going again, too.

MJ - Hope you have a good time! Keep in touch if you can. If not, we'll be anxious to hear back from you!

Lottie - Congrats on the 5 pounds! Keeps you motivated to see that happen, doesn't it?

Have a great day everyone!

ANewCreation 11-01-2010 03:01 PM

Hello Chickies!

Handed out gobs of Halloween candy last night and sent the rest with the hubby to work this morning.

The bad news: I ate like a hog Saturday night, including some candy, while at a friends house. The good news: Cut my calories severely on Sunday to make up the difference. Did not have any candy on Sunday!

Back on track today! Weight still stable at 187.8

I don't know if it's the shift in weather but I am craving some roasted root vegetables! I am off to the grocery store in just a bit. I'm thinking carrots, rutabagas, turnips, who knows what else....Oh, and I'm also craving cabbage so I'm getting a couple of heads. I've got some asparagus in the freezer so I may just roast a ginormous amount and eat off that for the week. I also have some shrimp and some orange roughy in the freezer so that's also going on the menu.

I haven't been in the mood to cook in forever but the cooler weather is inspiring me! Maybe, I'll even think about making some soup. Any good recipes from anyone?

Enjoy the day!

Beverlyjoy 11-02-2010 06:57 AM

Hi chickis - yesterday was a healthy day....always grateful for that. Yesterday I tried Dr. Oz's 'green drink' and it kinda upset my tummy. I think I need to tweek it. I am not giving it up yet.

For today:

lunch - egg whites with feta cheese, mushrooms, spinach, toast, steamed carrots

snack - fiber muffin

anewcreation - glad you hopped back on your plan...hmm, roasted veggies do sound good.

diane - yes, I agree, routine is so good for keeping us on our plan. Carry on!

lottie - good job on losing more weight. Five pounds is awesome. Good planning too especially during a busy, busy time

MyChoice2bfit 11-03-2010 08:46 AM

Hi-I'd like to try this. I think it will be a great tool.

Here's how Nov 2 went:

B= 4 fig-bar cookies, water
L=1 cheese and onion enchilada, side salad with dressing, pears, water
Snack=small chocolate chip cookie slice
Dinner: pot roast w/ potato and carrots, water

Exercise: 30 min walk and stretching

Here's the plan for today:
B=low-fat pop tart, water
L=side salad with dressing, pears, water
D=not sure..meeting a friend for dinner at PF Chang's
Exercise: 45 min Zumba class at lunch

I used to eat ceral in the mornings but I'm finding that I feel nausous afterwards and I think it's the milk, so I'm thinking of switching to oatmeal. Is there a certain kind you like/recommend?

Slashnl 11-03-2010 10:34 AM

Hi everyone. Quickly checking in today. Busy at work! Hope everyone has a great day.

lottie63 11-03-2010 12:14 PM

Hello everyone! I have made my first goal of -7 lbs lost by my doc appt, nov 3rd, woooo! :)

I haven't actually reached a goal in a long time. ha.

My next goal is to have lost 12 lbs or more by the third week of nov when I see my gyne.

Anyhow, today!:

b: 3 oz of ham with a smidge of agave, one whole egg, two egg whites, one cup assorted colored grapes. 1 cup silk.
l: 4 oz pork chop, .5 cup rice and 1.5 cups zucchini
d: Seitan stir fry (bf is cooking....for ONCE! :P )

lottie63 11-04-2010 08:33 PM

Okay, reset my short term goal ticker since I met my first short term goal! :) !

:D

I had a challenging day earlier.

I got up, and didn't eat 'breakfast' until around 1 p.m I was SO hungry and me and bf had to walk up tot he main drag to pick up our kinect (which is absolutely INSANE!), anyhow, I was so hungry and I knew I had to go home, pack my netbook and stuff up and go back up there to go to the coffee shop to meet a fellow nanowrimo writer. I didn't think I'd have time to eat at home and I KNEW that if I went to the coffee shop hungry I would end up eating a pastry, not being satisfied, and THEN, heading straight to the chinese buffet next door. I was seeing my Plan crumble.

I decided to just out while i was up there. So, we went to Qdoba. I like qdoba because they have a nutrition calculator on their site and I had used it before so had an idea of what I could get.

I ended up getting a naked ancho chile naked bbq burrito.

I got it with rice, black beans, chicken, bbq sauce and a little corn salsa.

It was 700 calories. More than I wanted to 'spend' but I was so hungry. Just no getting around it.

So, I came home and tried to figure out a way to have that same meal but to tweak it a bit to get it to be around 500-550 cals.

Apparently, if I sub the cilantro rice with fajita veggies instead, It'll be I think around 520 cals.

Which is TOTALLY acceptable to me for a restaurant meal!

I was proud I didn't get ANY cheese or sour cream though. Next time, smarter choice on the veggies. For sure. :)

Beverlyjoy 11-06-2010 05:37 AM

Yesterday was a healthy day...always grateful for that.

Both DH and I caught colds from our sweetie grandson last weekend.. I made chili yesterday for DH. Lately, I can't eat any spicy foods - so I'll go for healthy egg salad.

Saturday college football today - love watching it on the boobtube.

breakfast - grapes, morningstar bacon, pnb toast

lunch - egg salad, rice cakes, roasted veggies

snack - fiber muffin

dinner - lean pocket, salad with evoo & vinegar

snack - cheese and apple

Have a great day.

mj5 11-06-2010 07:50 AM

Good Morning! Back to reality today!

Beverlyjoy--How did the pt go?

I have my healthy lunch and snacks packed. My gym days this week are: Tues, Wed, and Fri. I am happy to report that I lost 2lbs last week! I was shocked when I stepped on the scale this am. I really tried while I was at the conference. I knew I wasn't perfectly OP, but I tried and I took some really nice long walks. I am very proud of myself.

Have a great OP day everyone!

Slashnl 11-08-2010 02:07 PM

Hi everyone. Well, I lost a couple of pounds over the past few weeks. I hadn't weighed in quite awhile. My vacation is going hunting, so there is a lot of walking. Good to see a loss. Need to get some more weight off!!!!

MJ - Congrats on the weight loss! Yay you!

Beverly - Hope you get to call your foot a "good" foot soon!

Have a great day everyone!

ANewCreation 11-08-2010 03:02 PM

I was off visiting my son this last week. Good fun and while I thought I was on plan I come home to find that my weight is up by 5#'s. I am freaking out in my head but I have a plan on paper that is going to get me back on track. I am hoping that this is water gain because while I managed my portions, we did eat out a lot. I was very active but I did have way too many carbs. Justified in my mind, because we were doing a lot of painting (new apt) and walking every where. My body just can not handle simple carbs, even if they are within my calorie count.

I am sick to death of coming here once a week, confessing my failures. Everything in me wants to avoid this thread because I fear everyone else is sick of me failing. Intellectually, I think this is not true. We all struggle. Many of you may even feel as I do. The important thing is to force myself back for accountability. So, in the past, I would have avoided this site, avoided this thread, gone back to my old ways and regained (+ a little more) and completely failed.

NOT ANYMORE. I am back. I remember the loathing and regret I would feel every time I regained. I got out one of my old cookbooks that I started using over 6 months ago. I have a menu plan written out and when I get off the computer I am off to the grocery store. I am going to have to eliminate eating out for a time. That's really going to be hard for me because I eat out a lot. I'm just going to have to do it. There just is no other way for me. Back to the basics that work. What works for me is following a low G.I. way of eating. Cooking my own food. Making time (and it takes time to make out a menu plan, shop and cook) because, I know it works. I like the food. The recipes are calorie conscious, healthy, and very filling.

Okay, confessional over. Thanks for listening and thanks ahead of time for any and all support. I'm outta here ;)

Have a great day!

Beverlyjoy 11-09-2010 05:24 AM

Hi chicks - I stayed on my plan yesterday - I am grateful. Physical therapy is moving forward and I am hoping for the best. I am feeling very stressed and my stomach is reacting to that. So, I am eating in a way that will calm it down. I know it’s just plain stress. I must do more meditation. That should help.

I am starting to get calls for work this school year. It saddens me so much to still be saying no because of all this foot/ankle stuff. I just want to get my life back.

I am trying to stay/act positive with everyone. No need for everyone else to be a party to my frustration. It’s nice to have a place here at 3fc where I can just say how it is. I know that you all care about me despite all the ‘stuff’ going on and there’s no judgment. I feel the same way about you all and your ‘stuff’ too.

Today:
I WILL meditate
Plan, measure, log food
Do my exercises
No eating standing - I am getting sloppy with this again
No second helpings
Fork down between bites, slow down
More mindful eating
Journal food and feelings and tasks
Lots of water

breakfast - cottage cheese and banana, toast with pnb

snack - cucumber

lunch - mushroom soup, veggies, cheese on rice cake

snack - fiber muffin

dinner - salad with chicken and lite cheese, crutons, evoo/vinegar

snack - rice cake

MJ - I am doing a happy dance at your weight loss! You did better than you thought…wonderful!

Slashnl - weight loss for you too! This is so awesome. All that outside exercise is making it happen. Great!

anew creation - sorry the scale went up when you felt it should not have. It’s tough when you aren’t home. It may wooosh down being some water weight. Having a plan is key, I think. I agree it will be the planning that will bring it all back together. I am so glad you aren’t ‘running away’ from here. That’s what we all want to do. There’s no judgment, but, only hope and support the best we can. I LOVE that you are making time for you, planning and setting yourself up for success.

Have a great day everyone.

Slashnl 11-09-2010 10:28 AM

Well.... I'm having trouble getting to the gym. It's amazing how many excuses I have. So, I didn't make it today. I will try tomorrow.

ANewCreation - There is no one who is "sick" of hearing from you, either with failures or successes. I know that I hate to admit the failures, too, but that's part of our accountability. I am having gym phobia lately, so that's my failure! Thanks for sharing your stories, too!

Beverly - I hope that you can move past the foot issues soon. Hang in there!

ANewCreation 11-09-2010 11:30 AM

Beverlyjoy, Slashnl--thank you for your encouragement. Such kind words mean a lot to me right now. I am so grateful to be here in this thread. I was freaking out yesterday but I feel I'm back on solid ground.

mj5, Slashnl--congrats on the weight loss! I'm so happy for you!

Beverlyjoy, sounds like PT is working. I know it must be hard and uncomfortable at times. Please know that we're all wishing you the best as you move forward. I hope your stress levels are coming down and your stomach feels better soon.

I went out shopping yesterday, armed with my list of good healthy foods to prepare the awesome recipes I selected. I had an amazing lunch and an awesome dinner. My calorie total for the day was 1675. I was aiming for 1700 so I did good :)

This morning I had an interesting breakfast. I put it on the list as just something to try and wasn't sure if I would like it. It was low calorie, easy to fix and turns out to be a keeper! Pesto scrambled eggs on a bed of wilted lettuce with a bit of shredded parmesan on top. Very quick and easy to make. The recipe called for egg whites only (hence my hesitation) but, I've got to tell you that with the pesto mixed in I couldn't tell. Only 279c for a nice portion. Happy dance!

I'm hoping that each and everyone of you is having a great on plan day full of joy ;)

Beverlyjoy 11-10-2010 05:33 AM

Hi Chicks! Yesterday was a healthy day - I am grateful. I got on the scale today and am down two pounds from last week. :) I am so happy to see this. I did my exercises, planned/logged food, drank water, did my journal and did my meditation (yay).

Today is PT.

I am glad I did my meditation :dizzy: yesterday and I plan to do it today - it usually makes the day go better.

I am trying to not eat after dinner except something right before bed to go with my bedtime medications. This seems to be helping my acid reflux and heartburn. I am grateful.

breakfast - cottage cheese and banana, pnb toast

snack - cucumber slices

lunch - egg white scramble with lite cheese, toast, green beans

snack - fiber muffin

dinner - turkey burger with cheese, lite mayo, salad with evoo/vinegar, garlic toast

snack - dry cherrios

anewcreation - thanks to you for your kind support. So good that you have filled the cupboards and fridge with healthy foods. :)That is the first step to eating healthfully. I am glad you are feeling better. Pesto and eggs sound yummy - good idea.

slashnl -I hope you made it to the gym!! :)

mj - Hi...hope you are having a great day. :)

Friends...be kind to yourself.

mj5 11-10-2010 08:46 AM

Hi!! I'm here!!!! Oh goodness...yesterday was so busy, I kept trying to get here and just didn't. I had my weekly call w/ wellness coach last night and it was awesome to be able to tell him that I lost 2lbs while away. He is helping me change up my workout routine (I'm getting bored with it)--that's what we are working on for this week.

I went to the gym last night. Had a great workout. It feels SO good to say that. Gym again tonight.

Saturday my middle niece (she's 12) and I are getting mani/pedi to celebrate her being chosen for her volleyball team captain. She is SO excited!!!

Have a great OP day!!!

lottie63 11-10-2010 10:30 AM

Hello ladies, hope everyone is doing well.

I have been On Plan for 22 days.

My first goal was 7

Then 30

I'm attempting to do a year with no cheating. If I want something it will have to fit into my cal allotment.

I'm having serious family stress right now. I avoided a bowl of pasta the other day because it's a trigger food and while I can have a bit sometimes, that was not the night to have it. I thought I would be okay by today but the bad news just keeps coming so I"m staying away. Bf will have to eat the leftovers. ha.

mj5 11-11-2010 08:49 AM

Hi!

lottie--You are doing awesome! Yikes, family stress is no fun. Good for you for avoiding the pasta...Thinking about you and hoping that things get better soon.

I didn't get to the gym last night. Ugh. Frustrated w/ myself. I got out of work late and just didn't go. I need to get back into my routine. It will happen, I have to make it happen.

Have a great OP day!!!!

Slashnl 11-11-2010 11:21 AM

Hi everyone. I MADE IT TO THE GYM! Finally. It was a really tough spin class, but I just kept telling myself that it is my fault that it was like that and that I just have to tough it out again for awhile. Now I just have to make it become a routine again. So, tomorrow I must make it to Body Pump class.

Lottie - I read your other post about the stress you are having. I am so sorry you have to go through this. I hope that everything works out for you. Hang in there.

MJ - How funny you talk about needing to be back in your routine. Gosh I know what you mean. Are we living the same life? Ha!

Hope everyone has a great day.

ANewCreation 11-11-2010 12:24 PM

Good morning chickies!

Beverlyjoy--Congrats on a 2# loss!!!!
mj5--Congrats to you also on a 2# loss! Enjoy your manicure/pedicure with your niece!
lottie63--I'm sorry to hear about the family stress, but kudo's to you for resisting the pasta! Stay strong my friend, you can do this ;)
Slashnl--Congrats on getting back to the gym. It's hard to get back on track but you're doing great!

This week has been going well. I guess it wasn't water weight because there has been no big drop but the good news is that I'm down about a pound. Staying on track with my food and still swimming.

I tried a new breakfast food this morning. Have you ever heard of quinoa flakes? Quinoa is very high in protein, and it's a whole grain. I have had it as a side dish before and always liked it. When I found it in the flaked form at the health food store I thought it would make a great quick breakfast. I put a little artificial sweetner in it and some light butter. It was fabulous! And filling.

Well, I'm off to the pool. Have a great OP day!

lottie63 11-11-2010 01:04 PM

So, the last few days have been **** around here.

all sorts of family drama, you guys are right and thanks for the kind words. :)

Things might be calming down, but honestly since august it's been like, I never know what will happen next.

I have stayed On Plan through it all though. So I feel really proud.

Today I have therapy, augh, thank whatever god is listening! :P

I dont know what lunch or dinner will be yet today but for breakfast I had a wheat bagel thin, half cup cottage cheese, 2 egg whites with 1 serv cheese and 1 cup of vanilla silk.

:)

Also, LOVE the kinect! Oh man it is amazing! I played volleyball last night for my upper body workout and it was so great! It was fun and i could really feel it. :) This silly game is going to help my fibro so much. :) I can tell already!

Also tomorrow will be 30 days since my last binge, and it will also be about 1.5 months since I last ate at the chinese buffet (my downfall!)

:)

Have a great On Plan day everyone! :), and any of you trying to make it to the gym who have, congrats, and those that haven't, not only CAN you do it, but you SHOULD! ;)

lottie63 11-11-2010 01:07 PM

newcreation: about quinoa, how do you make it as a side dish? It it like rice or pasta and you just add seasonings? What seasonings make it taste. good.

How on earth do you cook it? Can I make it in a rice cooker if I watch it (cuz it may cook faster or slower than rice) I bought some, but realized I have NO idea how to make it!

ANewCreation 11-11-2010 09:08 PM

I found this awesome site :

http://www.quinoa.net/181.html

It has directions for using a rice cooker as well as some awesome looking recipes. I've never done anything creative (I just cook my quinoa in chicken broth and call it good) before so I'm looking forward to trying these recipes. The soup and the stuff peppers sound tasty!

And the pudding sounds especially good...drool ;)

PS Don't forget to rinse the grain well to get rid of any bitterness/soapiness in the naturally occurring coating.

Enjoy!

Beverlyjoy 11-12-2010 05:05 AM

Hi chicks...yesterday was a healthy day - I am always grateful for that.

Today is PT.

mj5 11-12-2010 09:55 AM

It is a GORGEOUS day today!!!! Bright and sunny and should be upper 50's! I'll overlook the fact that I had to warm up my car and scrape the windshielf before leaving for work this morning! LOL!!!

Diane--YEA for getting to the gym!!!!! Yep, I swear we have the same life sometimes LOL!!!!

lottie--Still thinking about you...it's so hard when you never know when the next family drama is lurking. Keep taking care of yourself. You are doing fantastic!!!

ANewCreation--Thanks for sharing the quinoa site. I have heard lots of good things about quinoa, but have never tried it. Its about time I do!

Beverlyjoy--good luck at pt today!!

Todays workout will be taking the dogs for a walk. It is a gorgeous day, so I don't want to spend it inside at the gym. Hopefully today will be calmer at work....SO glad it is friday!

Can't wait for my mani/pedi w/ my niece tomorrow. She is super excited too.

Have a great day everyone!

lottie63 11-13-2010 10:31 AM

Hello ladies! I am feeling amazing today!

My fibro pain has decreased just....it's insane how much! Just over a month ago my pain and fatigue rating scale on this site I use that ranges from 1 (low) to 50 (high) was a 32, then a 22, then a 31, then, a 15 and for the last two weeks it has been an astonishing 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I credit lyrica, b12, and exercise. I can't do much exercise...but what I am doing now is tons more than the NONE I was doing before! ha. I am feeling so good. :)

p.s THANK YOU KINECT! ;)

I have set some boundaries with my fam, so I am a little less stressed, thanks to my awesome therapist! :)

reading back a few posts, looks like this week has been good to us! :) I wish everyone good planning skills for the weekend! I know it's hard for some people. (I do not work a 9-5 mon-fri so my 'weekends' are not a big deal)

Today:

breakfast: (amended for less cals cuz it's a day I don't work so I don't have to wait so long for lunch, this also allows me a snack. I normally have .5 tbls margerine on my bagel, and 2 whole eggs with 1 slice cheese. Now I have room for a snack around 9 p.m)

whole wheat bagel
1 whole egg,
.5 cup cottage cheese
.5 cup fruit

Lunch:
1 cup home made black bean chili with red onions and cheddar cheese

Snack: .5 cup cottage cheese

Dinner:
Home made taco salad: ingredients below!:

6 oz baked and taco seasoned chicken (I shred after baking and add a little water and a bit of a taco packet seasoning and let the water cook out, soaks in the flavor!)

1 serving tostitos multi grain chips

Green leaf lettuce

Red onion

LOTS of chalula hot sauce! ;)

Have a great On Plan day you guys!

Beverlyjoy 11-14-2010 04:46 AM

Hi chicks...yesterday was a healthy day - I am always grateful for that! I got my exercises, water, logging/planning and meditations in. I am always grateful for the willingness to do this.

For today:

plan/log food
lots of water
stretches and strengthening
meditation
leave a bite of food on the plate
eat seated only
no seconds
slow, mindful eating
taste the food
journal

lottie -I am so glad your fibro is doing better. My son has it and it can be so painful. He finds he must get lots of sleep at night. I am glad that you have set boundaries with your family. You are taking care of YOU. Great food plan.

mj - glad you have your nice doggies to take for a walk in the pretty outdoors!

anewcreation - thanks for the link on quinoa.

Have a healthy day everyone.

ANewCreation 11-14-2010 10:56 AM

Hello chickies!

Beverlyjoy, it sounds like you're doing so well. I'm so happy for you.

lottie63, I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling better--in all aspects!

mj5, enjoy your walk with the doggies!

This has been a fabulous week. I am down a pound--woohoo! I know it's going to take me a lot longer to get down to my ticker weight than it took to exceed it but I'm on my way! 4#'s to go.

Just wanted to share that I went to a party last night and had a plan! No booze. A nice portion of lean meat (pulled pork) and two plates of raw veggies, no dip. Oh, and a couple of cheese cubes. Happy dance for me!

Also, hubby and I ate out for lunch and he started bragging about how healthy his lunch was so I whipped out my smart phone and showed him that his entire lunch came in at around 2000 calories. He was shocked!!! Fortunately for him, he is very thin and healthy so he can do that. But, I did point out to him 'Do you understand why I'm bitter on occasion?' Said with humor of course but it really did point out the difference in what I can do and what he can do. It was very eye opening for him and now he understands why I have to spend so much time on my smart phone making a decision about what to eat whenever we go out to eat.

Hope everyone is having a good on plan weekend ;)

Hi everyone! Another sunny day here. LOVE IT! My workout days this week will be: Tues, Wed, and either Thurs or Sat.

Tonight I am going to my niece's first home volleyball game (the niece I took to get her nails done on Sat). She is super excited, but kinda nervous too. It's her first time ever being captain of a team. The girls will do great I am sure.

Leftovers for dinner, which is an added bonus! Then time to relax w/ hubby and the "sweet beagle sisters". I have a healthy lunch and snacks packed for work. I am already drinking water. I need to bring some decaf tea bags so I am less tempted to drink extra coffee during the day. I don't need the extra caffeine or calories....for some reason I never liked anything added to my tea.

Have a great, healthy OP day everyone!
