The only time Ive ever lost ten lbs in a 30 day period is when I first started in 2008 with fatsmash (detox phase)
If you're looking to lose 10 lbs in 30 days, why not go back to what's worked for you in the past. Not saying for sure that you'd get the same results, but it's worth a shot, no?
I realized I didn't follow up the question:
Quote:
And for those whom has lost ten lbs in a month if it has happened often please share your diet/workouts or anything that helped you.
My diet was a clean one - ZERO garbage. All nutrient rich foods. ZERO garbage. But the biggest key without a doubt - consistency, consistency, consistency. Sticking with it, sticking with it, sticking with it.
Eliana, I did everything within my power to avoid any plateaus. The consistency, the steadily increasing of my exercise. But again - it was the adhering to my calorie budget and the quality of my foods that did it, I believe.
IMO, if it's steady results you're after, it's steady eating/exercise you'll need. It's not everyones choice, but it was mine.
Here is what my loss has looked like thus far:
January 2010 : -26.6
February 2010: -15.2
March 2010: -14.6
April 2010: -15.2
May 2010: -10.8
June 2010 -7.8
July 2010 -8.2
August 2010 -10.8
September 2010 -6.0
October 2010 so far -7.4
So you can see it was a LOT at first, but it has been tapering downwards as time continues.
edited to say: Coincidentally, I am doing exactly what rockinrobin did, except my exercise is lower than what it could be (I walk 3 miles a day, but I just started doing that 3 weeks ago and haven't done any exercise up to that point). As my body gets more fit, I'll be upping the exercise more!

The last time I succeeded in losing 44 lbs. I was losing around 10 lbs per month. This required extreme dieting and averaging over an hour of exercise per day. I guess I'm an all or nothing personality. So I'm trying to do it that way again. Of course the first month of serious dieting gives higher results, but I am on track again and hope to continue to goal this time.
In part, though, we do have to recognize that someone needing to lose less is not as likely to lose this much in such a short time.
Some of the numbers are very impressive here. It would be helpful, for those of you who don't mind saying so, to tell us your age when you tell us how much you've lost each month.
I have always known, intellectually, that weight loss gets slower as you get older, but boy am I FEELING it this time around. I'm even still fairly young - I'm just 38 - and still this is a very different process requiring a whole different degree of patience than it did, say, 10 years ago.
So to answer the OP's question, no, I have not had any month this time around where I've lost 10 pounds - except perhaps the very first one, when I had that first rush of bloat that came off. Since then, if I lose 7 pounds I have to call it a pretty darn good month, and 5 is more typical. And it's not going to get any faster as I get closer to a healthy weight.
I would strongly advise against setting numerical goals like "lose 10 pounds in a month" or "lose 100 pounds by next Christmas." These things are up to your body and may not go the way you want, despite your best efforts. They are, after a point, out of your control. Instead, set behavioral goals, goals that are entirely within your control - "stick to my plan for a month" or even "stick to my plan today." If you meet that goal day after day, whether your body feels like losing 10 pounds a month or just 5, you'll still feel that you have done right by yourself and succeeded.
i had the best results at the begining working out often 2 hrs or more. alot of running in place, riding my recumbent bike, step ups. later i started using weights, or shall i say wts more often and increase the wt.
maybe look at your exercise log recently, last few months/weeks. maybe theres not enough variety. maybe theres moves you could be doing differently.
i was doing lots of lunges, squats, running, all this works your body, but we're only moving up and down.
then i tried a new routine with side lunges and speed skaters. i had done them before, but this time there were several sets. i swear i burned off 2 inches off my hips from those exercises. working my muscles in new ways.
or it could be something you haven't done in awhile, but it still shocks your body.
i'm 28. i lost 15 pounds first month. a period of a few weeks with a plateu, then lost another 10.
so sw:230 march 7
215 on easter this yr
205 sometime in early may.
i used to do 2 w/o a day sometimes. morning and before i go to bed run or ride the bike. or do squats. now i have to hold a wt for them to be effective.
i feel like i'm getting my lost years back too. years of telling everyone i would do it, but not. now, if i stayed this size, that's fine i just want a few inches of fat gone.
I'm 40 and I've been losing between 10-20 pounds a month since I started April 28th of this year. The first 3 months about 20 pounds a month and it's almost been another 3 months at around 10 pounds a month. I count calories, no junk food, stay on plan everyday and not much exercise. I plan on starting to exercise regulary soon.
