I agree - I think it's a well meaning comment. But seeing it in black and white lol makes it kind of seem not so nice!

I've decided that the only safe compliment to give in real life to someone losing weight is: "you're looking really fit!" So far as I know, no one has taken that as an insult.

I am really sensitive to these type of comments when it comes to certain people. (I don't know if that makes sense or not.) If my Da were to say that, I would know to take it as a compliment because he has never been one to hand out compliments freely. We are a sarcastic kinda bunch and we tease the crap outta each other. Now if my [i]husband[/] said it...well then I would NOT take it as a compliment because I know what he is really thinking...he wants me to keep going and get the weight off.

I suppose it really IS meant as a compliment, but it is so easy to overanalyze the statement because we are so busy overanalyzing ourselves and our weight so much.
