I always thought I was 5'10" also, but at my last Physical the nurse measured me and declared 5'9". "No way" I thought. Anyway, for now I am sticking with 5'10" - so there! lol!

We, here in Canada are straddling the whole measurment mess. Officially we are metric, and most stuff has been converted, but for some reason weights are usually referred to in pounds. In the grocery store the meat and produce have both pounds and Kgs listed, but I basically ignore the kgs and think of it in pounds. Like the apples I bought today were .99/pound.

Anyway, way to go on the new leaf. It is lovely.

Abby - I am petrified that I'm in premature shrinking. No-one should shrink in their 20s! Or even their 30s! Or even ever!

Julie - I think that says more about you than about me, sista

CLCSC - I once heard a teacher talking about how arithmetic was done in the UK. 14 inches, one foot and carry 2. 7 feet, 2 yards and carry one. I got, er, a bit confused Hehehe! (til I met lots of different number systems, when Imperial began looking distinctly cosy and logical )

Dragonwoman - you are the Awesomest of the Awesome! The connection to the Christian trinity had slipped my mind (don't tell God I said that). And I like the idea of pure intelligence...hm....

Beverlyjoy - I don't want to start shrinking *sniff*

caryesings - you're so laid back about it! I'm not sure my genes would let me do that. Oh, and yes - the BMI thing is a bummer. So much for me being overweight I'll now hit onederland before a BMI under 30. That's pretty weird to me.

Eliana - I don't, I like my height Though my sister is much taller than me, and it's not always been easy for her.

To everyone: thank you!
Can I just say, I love how you answered so many people in one post!! Very tricky!
Congrats on owning up to 5ft9...my height is listed as 5 ft9 but I haven't been measured in years...so I am not sure it's accurate. I'm 42 and could have shrunk!

Don't feel too bad about it! I'm pretty near enough 6' to go ahead and claim that last 1/8 inch or so, and having lost so. much. weight., the thing I hear most often is that I look so much taller. Which, uh, I am tall, but evidently the first impression I now make is of somebody who is OMG TALL, and not OMG FAT.

dragon, you are cool beyond cool.

I also thought I was 5'10" and said so for a long time. Nope! I'm 5'9". 69 inches isn't a bad place to be.

My dad was 6'8" for years and then he shrunk an inch and is 6'7"; sometimes I STILL mess up and say 6'8". It's not easy to change, I understand. ^^

My poor mom has gone from 4'11" to 4'9"! She can't afford to keep shrinking!

Oh no! That's the one good thing about being tall to begin with: shrinking a few inches isn't such a big deal.
