As for your Dh, maybe he should try what my Dad is doing.
My Dad quit about 4 months ago. He had smoked since he was approx 12 years old. He would smoke over 2 pks a day. He finally decided it was time to quit. He is 66 years old. He went to the Dr and got an Rx for some sort of puffer thing. When u start out you are allowed (dont quote me on this).. I believe he said 16 insert changes. He started out using about 6 of those a day. Now he is down to 1-2 a day. Its been 4 months. Im so proud of him. He will evenutally get down to where he will not use/need the puffer at all.
That is the best gift you can give yourself - a huge congrats for that!
I quit over seven years ago, not a single drag off a cigarette in that time (because I know I'd start up again if I did). And when I quit, I had the same sentiment as you do now - I'd just had enough, time to be done with it now.
Thanks so much everyone!!! I feel like my sense of smell and taste is already improving and I feel like I can breathe better!
I think my hubby might have to get a prescription from the Dr. for those pills that stop smoking cravings. He is a heavy smoker (1-2 packs a day) and I only smoked half a pack a day so I think quitting is a lot harder for him and will take some time.
Why? As long as she doesn't substitute eating for the cigarettes, she should have no problems.
because smoking is a known metabolism raiser.
I quit over 6 months ago and it's the best decision I ever made I can run without needing to keel over lol It's amazing how better your sense of smell is when you can smell a smoker it's gross lol Good job, keep it up, I don't even think about smoking, time makes things so much easier!
Congratulations on being a non-smoker!! It really is the best thing you can do for your health. I smoked for 23 years and have been a non-smoker for almost 4 years now. It is wonderful! The smell is beyond nasty once you are away from it. You might not get to that point until hubby quits because you are used to his cigarette scented body.
Once, I quit the smell would make me sick to my stomach. I'm more used to now because I work in a convenience store and smell smokers all day long. I did try to light one up about two years ago. The first made me dizzy and lightheaded. The second cigarette made me so ill I had to lay on the sofa for four hours before I could move again. Once I got up those cigarettes went straight into the garbage and I never touched another one.
Conratulations!!! Such a wonderful think you have done for yourself and your family. I smoked for many years, but quit too. It's hard, but you can do it. The first week is the worst, the rest is just filling the habit.
Thanks so much everyone. I am still not feeling great today but am slowly feeling better. I am looking forward to hubby quitting because I know it will be easier for me once he quits too. I am really proud of myself. Even if I have a weight gain this week it is worth it to quit smoking!
