Welcome to one of the most popular threads here at the 100lb club!
For those of you unfamiliar with the term, NSV stands for Non Scale Victory. This is where we share our progress on matters that don't necessarily relate to the actual number on the scale. Such as making a healthier choice, resisting temptation, receiving a compliment (we're big on those), fitting into clothing better, something in the fitness area and so on and so on. So let's start filling it up!
I was looking in the closet for something to wear when I decided to try on my "skinny jeans" - size 11, brand-new jeans I bought when they were on sale for $3 that have only hung in my closet for the past four months - and I got them on!
Today I wanted a hamburger so instead of buying a fatty one or making my own fatty one, I found these whole wheat rolls that has only 100 calories, 1g of fat and 5, yes 5 grams of fiber in it! I measured out the meat into a 2 oz low fat patty and grilled it with the GF machine, put a little ketchup, mustard and a sliced pickle (5 calories) and ate it with a cup of broccoli. It was the most amazing thing I ever tasted! I think I might have another one later. It's was ymmy with the capital Y! Instead of what I would usually have (BK or Wendy's meal) I made my own with considerally less fat and calories and enjoyed every bite!
I am not hungover. First time on New Year's Day in forever and ever.
I had an epiphany yesterday while thinking about the calories in drinks (trying to figure the lowest cal options) - I don't binge out on junk food anymore, getting drunk is the same thing, tons of empty calories, pointless - the same thing - a binge. I'm not much of a drinker, never have been, although I've been known to go on a social girl's night out bender a few times a year.
I no longer panic when we go to a restaurant and we get seated in a booth. Tonight I enjoyed a nice comfy and healthy dinner at a steak place...in a booth!
-- Apparently having a stress fracture in my toe either from running for exercise or walking all day at a museum earlier this week...
-- Having some pretty nasty burns on the fingers of my right hand from a cooking accident yesterday...
-- Being in the middle of a big fight with my husband which may (in all honesty) be the true beginning of the end for our marriage...
-- And various other potential excuses...
I just finished 35 mins of upper-body strength training intermixed with no-impact cardio dance movement and I feel GREAT. Now to eat some of the healthy food (and drink some water!) that I can feel my body craving.
