Part of my personal plan has been to sneak in extra exercise whenever possible. I park as far from the door of the store as possible (think Clark Griswald in the Vacation Movie) If I have 4 bags or less I carry them out to the car rather than push them in a cart. If I have to go upstairs for something at home, I walk up, turn around walk down and back up. Be careful doing that though, sometimes I forget what I went up for!!

ANYHOW...one day last week I went to Walmart for dog food. I parked at the way back of the parking lot. I was kind of pressed for time so all I got was a 50 pound bag of dog food. I had to nearly fight off the checker at the register she wanted so badly for me to put it in a cart. I carried the 50 pound bag of dog food out tot he car. I couldn't believe how heavy it was!!! I got in the car and thought Good Gawd...I have lost 60 pounds...I used to carry more than around with me in everything I did. When I reach my goal I will have lost THREE 50 pound bags of dog food. When I get to goal...I am going to buy three 50 ound bags of dog food and carry them out to the car just to see what a difference it makes!!

Thank you so much -- that picture is awesome!! Visuals are so helpful -- just curious, can you pick both of those up at one time? I always wonder -- we can carry 100 extra pounds on our bodies but the fact that our muscules won't allow us to carry this amount of weight around with our arms should tell us something!

You have done a truly amazing job -- thanks for the inspiration!!!

always compare my weight loss to my kids. I'll say "I've lost a whole Jordanna!" (daughter) or "I've almost lost 3 Eriks!" (son). It's amazing, since my DS is heavy to carry around!!
Hee, I do this too. I have lost a Gabbie and am closing in on an Anthony one day. Funny thing is when I put Gab on my back and try to climb the stairs I can hardly make it now. But a year ago, I was carrying a small ten year old around with me everywhere I went!

Well - actually I can pick one up by the handle in each hand. I can carry them about 10 feet or so, but that is about it. It's exhausting LOL!
I wonder if I could lift both pails stacked.... hmmmm... don't think I'll try that!

Wow! Lori and Meg, your stories are awesome and gives me the encouragement to keep going.

I recently started on my lifestyle change June 20th and found this website last week. Reading your blogs and stories help me realize that I am doing something right! I have lost 20 pounds so far! I exercise 2 times a day and eat lean meats and veggies. Giving up sweet tea was probably the most difficult part, but now I have NO desire to drink anything but water!

Thanks for your posts!

LORI, being a drywall finisher, I carry buckets of "mud" like that almost every working day of my life...I know how heavy those buckets are!

YOU ARE AMAZING!

I noticed today that the bag of dog food my daughter was holding in my avatar is 16.5 lbs and I have lost that in TBL challenge and I am 3.5 lbs away from making it two bags in total lost since march 08. Thanks for inspiring us to look at comparisons for a more tangible visual!

Lori - That just blew me away. What an inspiration you are! You look fabulous. I was just looking at your blog and reading about the "loose skin" I must say, that is a big concern of mine, however, you look very fit, buff and toned. I would never have said that was an issue for you!Congrats on the good work! KEEP IT UP!

Lori, you look awesome...the visual is terrific!!! It's always amazing to me just how big this site is....there are only a handful of people who posted here that I recognize. Sorry for the sideline, but it just seems so cool to me how many of us are here willing to help each other along this journey!!
