pre breakfast and breakfast
3 egg whites
1 oz ( chopped up ) jimmy deans 50% reduced fat sausage mixed in eggs
1/4 cup mild cheddar mixed in eggs
4 oz orange juice
2 medium celery sticks
Pretty much the same thing every morning. Sometimes I have toast 2 pieces Schwebel's light wheat and sometimes I have buckwheat pancakes with sugar free syrup.
My usual lately
Espresso, steamed skim milk, splenda and sweet n'low (in the car through my 40 minute commute)
1/2 cup cottage cheese and a vegetable - today 1 cup raw snowpeas - eaten at my desk at my leasure.
Girlygirl Rhonda - hadn't thought about putting the triscuits and cheese in the microwave. I often have this combo as a snack and I'll need to try melting that cheese!
Spinach shake with a few handfuls of spinach, 2-4 stalks of celery, 10 baby carrots, 1 cup of frozen strawberries and 1/2 frozen banana with plenty of water to blend.
Usually, I have a mid morning snack of 1/2 cup of unsweetened soy yogurt, 1 cup of blueberries and 1 serving of high fiber cereal.
I made an omlette this morning - green pepper, onion, mushrooms and a little cheese in one egg with two pieces of wheat toast with apple jelly. Yummo! Wish I had time for eggs more often - they really stick with me.
Breakfast, love it. Breakfasts foods- not in the morning.
Today was black bean hummus with a HUGE plate of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I replaced the lemon juice with fresh grapefruit juice. Doesn't that sound breakfasty?
I have 3 stand by breakfasts I eat. Here are the three choices...
1. 1/2 Cup oatmeal, topped with 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts, 1 1/2 tsp brown sugar and a large sprinkle of cinnamon. An orange and 1 cup light vanilla soy milk and Black Chai tea.
2. 1 Thomas's 100% Whole wheat English muffin with 2 Tablespoons organic almond butter topped with either a sliced banana or sliced apple 8 oz soy milk and Black Chai tea.
3. 1 Thomas's 100% Whole wheat English muffin with 1/4 cup diced avocado 2 hard boiled eggs 2 Tablespoons Salsa, raisins or prunes, 8 oz soy milk and Black Chai Tea.
This morning I had a green smoothie, with 1 green apple, strawberries, 1/2 cup of organic apple juice, 1 tablespoon on freshly ground flax seeds, and 2 cups of spinach. It turned brown, so I dunno if I'll be doing that combo again! heh. I have one of these smoothies a day, good source of veggies!
I learned a good trick with the steel cut oats that apparently we all eat! If you soak them overnight they cook faster and apparently it releases something in them, but I can't remember what! I always eat mine with frozen fruit and vanilla soy milk - so yummy!
