Default Weight training with high blood pressure!!

A few months ago I was working out and was getting weird pains in my head like light headed. I went to the doctors and found out I have high blood pressure. I want to start working out again and was wondering if anyone here has high blood pressure can they please tell me what exercise they do that really does not make the bp go up too much.

Thanks

As everyone is different, it's probably best to check with your MD next check-up to see what s/he recommends.

I think that I got bogus advice from an MD, so I advise that you take a BP monitor with you to the gym and measure your BP during exercise. You may find that it does not actually go up, as some would have you believe. You have to know what YOUR body is doing.

I have hyptertension, you have to remember to breath! Are you holding your breathe too much particularly when you lift the weight up and trying to go way over your limit? Meaning, you should be able to do at least 8 reps in good form, if you are straining too the point you are losing form before 8 reps then you are not doing it right. Are you drinking enough water?

Just a couple thoughts, but man..you need to check with your doctor, you may need to have your hypertension controlled by medication (if it is not already) before you try to do real heavy lifting. You need to check with your doctor....
