MARITAL STATUS: Single, but dating the man of my dreams!

Boyfriend's NAME: Chris

CHILDREN/AGES: No kiddies

CURRENT WEIGHT: 282

GOAL WEIGHT: I'm trying to make it between 130 and 135

OCCUPATION: I am a college student currently, with a part time job in the translation field (German/Spanish/Swedish to English) and will most likely be doing that full time in June once I graduate!

More about me: I just found out I have PCOS about 4 months ago, and am still trying to learn all I can about it. I've been reading some books related to the topic and whatnot, but support is definitely helpful! I'm working on myself now, and am very happy to have a very supportive boyfriend, who still tells me I don't need to change anything. But I'm doing this for me, and I just joined this site today and am just looking for people who see where I'm coming from and for some support!

Thanks all and enjoy!

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: demanding sweet tooth, getting enough energy and motivation and time to exercise, cant seem to lose weight - but gain it by the hour

WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I'm trying to get a better understanding of what is that I have - PCOS - most doctors really don't know much about it. I'm trying to make a conscious effort to change my lifestyle. I turned 30 this year, and am finding that this is good year to reevaluate my life.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU? I think I've had this condition since puberty. It took over a year to get pregnant with my son - at that time we did not investigate why I was having trouble. We are trying to conceive again - on month 16. I have been on Glucophage for 3 months, and have done one month of clomid.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: I am a compulsive over eater and pretty much if I am not eating I am thinking about food. I am seeing a specialist about this next week. Hopefully that will get me on the right track.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: My husband is doing it with me and I am seeing a doctor about the mental issues i have with food. I think with his support and the docs knowledge I WILL do it this time.

Also I was DXed with PCOS on 03/03/2003 and had Laporscopy done on 03/07/2003. I followed the BC method of on for 3 months straight then a cycle and then on for 3 months again. Went to a fertility specialist back in May of 2005 and he put me on 2000mg Met which did not do my poor stomach any good. I had my gallbladder taken out Jan 05 and had developed IBS any way and the Met made it totally unbearable. Since going off Met and adjusting a few things in my diet the IBS has subsided also.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Im a compulsive eater also and eat mindlessly all the time. I dont seem to feel full until Im bursting at the seems, then I can always fit a bit more chocolate ! Im a carb addict but have only just realised what my problem is, just thought I was weak willed

WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: Its been a 2 year stuggle to lose the weight I have, I attribute that to working out in the gym. I love excercise now and as Im getting fitter and smaller I can work ut harder. Its only recently Ive been able to get a handle on my eating, and thats been just eating fewer carbs. I get such vicious carb craving when I eat too many carbs I find it a much smoother ride to avoid them if I can.
ANYTHING ELSE TO ADD:I was only dx last year. I had no problems with fertility and my periods were regular just a little longer (35 day cycle, heavy). My symptoms have been excess hair which started at about 15,abdominal obesity, IR, skin tags, thinning hair. Its so great to have been able to find a name for what I have been struggling with my whole adult life. I felt like a freak, I have had to shave my beard area on my face daily for 20 years. My stomach got so huge I looked 7 months pregnant.I felt ugly and unfeminine. At least I know what Im trying to treat now. I found a great doc who dx me, he put me on Met, natural progesterone, spiro. A few months later I had a full tummy tuck operation and thats when life improved drastically . Now I feel like woman again and I can look to the future without dread. I still have to shave daily but Im hoping the spiro will kick in. Of course Im very grateful not to have had probs with fertility, I was blessed with 3 kids in under 3 years and for that I very lucky

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Laying off the Sugary stuff...& feeling good enough to exercise. (I have PCOS plus arthritis...wake up stiff & swollen daily, etc. I fight it though!) Me TOO + Fast Food Addict here! I'm also a Diabetic. To eat smaller more frequent meals instead of one or two big ones.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I am FED UP with being this weight and feeling BAD and it is affecting my everyday life. My back hurts daily and I can barely walk anymore.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?

I've been overweight most of my life. Only time I wasn't was BEFORE 9 years of age. At 9 yrs of age my parents got a divorce. That may have been why I got so big and have this Food Addiction.

My family was NOT supportive when I was little they would infact make fun of me. Not ALL my family, my mom and grandmother were wonderful. It was mostly the men folk, my grandpa, uncles, and yup even my biological father.

I lost 50 lbs when I was a senior in HS and I looked and FELT great and even the "Cool" kids came up to me and told me so. I so want to go back to that weight, 170. Most may think that is still too heavy, but for me it was a life changing experience. I was wearing size 13/14 jeans and I looked pretty good. I wanted to ultimately get down to 150 and that is where I want to get down to now. I don't think I will ever be a "Small" person. I just don't have the right body frame for that. I have my grandmother's body frame, which is larger. My parents are both very small, I didn't inherit that.

Guess I should end now before I write a novel!

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: lack of will power. I love sweets. Also, I go to school full time and work night shift - makes it difficult to eat healthy and find time to work out.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I am ready and dedicated and excited. I've got a great suport system this time too.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU? I grew up as the skinny younger sister. My 2 older sisters have been diagnosed with PCOS recently and I have many of the symptoms. I havent been able to see a doctor yet but it's in the game plans. I also will be graduating college this December and it is my goal to be a lot thinner by then. Once I have graduated and obtained a better paying job, we want to start trying to have kids. I know my weight will be an issue and want to curb it before the time comes.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Bordom, and a sweet tooth. I also have PCOS, but I could definately overcome that by cutting out my sugar intake.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I was diagnosed with PCOS, so now I can take steps to make it better. I want to have children and know that I need to be healthy first. Also my husband is going to deploy again in about 8 months, so I want to look before he leaves, and continue to get better while he's gone.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?

I love life. At times I do get discourages, but I am usually happy all the time. I'm from a small southern town and the definition of a "southern belle". I come from a close, LDS (Mormon) family and have been married to my high school sweetheart for over 2 years now. He's a Marine and we both love this life style. I love to talk to people and just have a great time.

Well I am relatively new to the Forum thing.... I have been battling the buldge for the last three years..Not knowing why. Been to a # of docs who told me I was depressed,,, AH NO..... Finally determined to have a thyroid problem. Started meds... still no change.

Been married for 5 years and trying to conceive now..... Now I find out I have PCOS... What next? At least I have an explanation to why I ballooned up....I have no idea what to do now.

I am a pretty active person who has always been health and fit... Until recently of course. I have gain almost 85 ponds in 2 years... but no one knew why... Now it is time to take it OFF!!! Any suggestions on where to start?

I am a law enforcement officer and have been working in this field for 5 years. I like to ride bikes, walk and be out side doing stuff around my house. I also sell cosmetics (Don't wana say which brand)... So all in all I am very active.. Not sitting home throwing food down my throat but still OBESE... What a horrible word.

I don't really know what to do from here.... Any suggestions? I'm listening.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Sticking to the diet its self and also with the pcos it makes it that much harder for it to stay off without creeping back on

WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I am going to stick to it because i want to have a baby , i have been ttc for nearly 2 years and suffered a miscarrige in July 05 so i would really like to lose the weight to improve my chances.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU? Well as i said above me and my husband are trying for our first baby and its been a very tough 2 years , i have been through grieveing , sadness , jelousy , anger all the emotions anyone could possibly go through as well as worrying constantly about my weight and knowing that i can go on a diet but its not gonna be the answer to all my prayers. After my miscarrige ,my monthly cycles started to become longer and longer and so i was given a hormone test which at the time i was told was fine but i later found out it wasnt , well anyway i went back to see my dr in january 06 as i had been doing some charting and taking my temp everyday with fertility friend since October 05 as i wanted to see when i was ovualting so i could maximise our chances well my friend was all clued up on this and she said to me that she didnt think i was ovualting so after three months worth of charts i marched down to the dr's and told her everything she said PCOS straight away which im no stranger too it as my sister has it too , so she gave me some more hormone tests and found out i was in fact not ovulating and it was PCOS that was in March 06 then she sent me for a fertility appointment and that was in april 06. So now i am currently on a diet until i have my follow up fertility appointment in November where i hope to be given Clomid to help me ovulate and Metaformin to help me ovualte but also help with the pcos and weight loss , i have no idea whether this will happen , but as the fertility people were so mean to me about my weight i am determind to lose as much as i can before november to show them that i mean business.

OH dear im so sorry that ended up so long but its feels so good to have that all out in the open and to share my story with others.

More about me: Where to start I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 16. I never saw a period till i was 19ish. even then i got one!. i either get a period for many days weeks months or i dont get one at all.

I have been trying to have a baby for a few years now and ive never gotten pregnant. Ive tried Clomid Metformin etc.

Ive tried every fad diet and crash diet.. I was 180 when i got married a few years ago.. but i got there by doing things that werent good for my body i did a mixture of:

WW
Diruetics
purging

you name it i did it. I am back at my 236 and i want to get back down to my 180-175. I get frustrated NO ONE seems to understand my weight issues im a skinny looking girl till you get to the mid section. the PCOS makes it hard to lose weight i can eat salad and gain 10lbs.

So ya im a tad depressed and discouraged. Im lookng to meet locals or woman who understand where im coming from and dont give me the regular doctor answer
"Eat better and excersize your fat"

Im on the list for IVF but its frustrating i want to lose weight so that it can make my chances better but its been an uphill battle.

More about me: I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2002 and have dealt with the gamut of issues that go along with it. I was lucky to get pg with my son and he's a healthy 3 year old now. My weight is a constant problem for me although I took a few years off of worrying about it after I had my son, it was a great excuse for a while .
I'm living the life of a damn near bankrupt wife of a culinary student right now so I have no health insurance to monitor my pcos or get meds. I'm tyring again to lose weight but my highest priority is to just be a healthier person.
I'm looking forward to meeting some new people with pcos, I've never participated in a group like this before.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Keeping the weight off and losing more weight on top of it. I used to think I couldn't lose weight, but I know I can because I've done it before and all I did was manage portions and workout 6 days a week. It could have been so much harder but I was motivated. Now I just don't have the energy or resources. I don't have too much faith in anything including the diet books and pills. Even though a lot of people say they work. If I'm going to pay to lose weight why don't I just have lipo...j/k

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU? I'm not taking anything right now. I took clomid and glucophage to get pregnant with my baby girl. I had no Dr. assistance. I bought my clomid overseas and researched online how and when to take it. I figured out that I needed to repeat the cycle continuously after I wasted 3 cycles. I would take the Clomid and if I didn't concieve I would get discouraged and stop taking it. Finally I had 3 100mg cycles left and I did them consecutivly to the last pill and when I didn't get a cycle by day 19 I knew, dispite my one negative pregnancy test. I was still convinced I as pregnant. So I waited another week and did a HPT only to find that I was in fact pregnant. Now 8.5 months (she was a preemie) and about 60 lbs later I got my miracle baby. If she's all I have I'm still ever thankful that I had her.
