Hi, everyone! I tried Alli last May and had terrific results...then I stopped. I hate when I do that! Now I'm sitting here realizing that I'd probably be at my goal weight right now if I hadn't of gotten sidetracked. And so the dance begins again...

Oh, well, the reality is that I'm back on Alli as of yesterday and am recommitted to losing that baby weight (by 'baby' is now 18! Egads). Glad to see you guys are trying it, although it seems like the board has slowed down after it's initial market launch. Let's keep it going strong.

BTW, I really like using the Alli site's My Meal Plan feature. Easy to input the day's food and see how I measured up, stats-wise, on cal0ries, fat, fiber, etc.

I also noticed on the Alli site, for the first time, that there's a graph that shows height/weight recommendations for using the product. I didn't realize that for my height, I *should not* use it if I'm at 157 or below. Hummm, that means I'm on my own for the last 27-pound loss?! The graph is shown on the FAQ page, question #7, on the myalli site. Anyone else see this? I wonder why it is so...

Keep up the good work, all! I'll check with you as we take on this battle together!

I think mainly to prevent anorexics from using them. Also, to help you develop life maintaining habits. You can't use alli forever, you know? Although I am leaning more towards anorexic.

I know I'm not getting the full fat blocking effects but I already have digestion issues and my doc agreed that pushing it wouldn't be a good idea.

The biggest thing I've noticed is that I'm just not as hungry as I was before. My appetite has really dropped off since starting on Monday.

I'm also doing WW and it had been difficult staying within my points. This week I'm having a hard time using them.
The best thing to do in that situation with WW and alli is to log everything to eat and make sure you are not only getting your points for the day but getting 50% calories from carbs 20% from protein and 30% from fat.

An update on my alli diet so far . . .
I ~officially~ started using alli 12/27/08 and to today 2/8/09. In between these times along with eating SOME whole grains, at least 1 serving of fruit and 2 servings of veggies I have lost 23lbs!!! I'm almost half-way to the 50lbs mark

Hi Ladies. I used Alli for several months and I just wanted to mention to watch your hair loss using this product. Although it's not reported as a side effect, I do think I had some of it and if you Google Alli + hair loss, you will see lots of women have had similar experiences. In the end, it's just a choice and depends on everyone's own circumstance. FYI and good luck!

Default Diet - Vitamins = Hair loss

Good point, Thighs Be Gone (I love your name-hehee). Although, a Google search for 'Slim Fast + hair loss,' or 'Weight Watchers + hair loss,' gets hits, as well, since losing weight can go hand-in-hand with poor nutrition if you don't feed yourself well. An excerpt from one site claims:

"The typical hair thinning patient of dermatologists complains after losing about 20 pounds in a relatively short time period. No scientific study has ever identified whether certain diet plans are more or less likely to produce hair loss.

Sudden changes in nutrition can disrupt the hair growth cycle, causing hair follicles in the growing phase to convert to the "resting" phase too soon. This may mean a 20-30% increase in the number of daily hairs a person loses."

Thanks for the reminder to take my multi-vit every night!

Hi, Daimere: Thanks for the insight! My MIL has been taking one-a-day (prescription-strength) to maintain her wonderful and hard earned weight loss for a few years now, so it seems feasible someone could take Alli forever. Folks take a daily pill to keep their blood pressure and/or cholesterol in check; makes sense that peeps might take one to help keep extra weight off...but I dunno...

my friend's mother who is a doctor and quite slim went on alli and lost 6lbs in about 1.5 months without any treatment affects. in turn, my friend started on it as well and while she didn't lose any weight, she didn't experience any treatment effects. i also tried alli briefly (no weight loss) and i experienced the treatment effects when i ate ridiculously fatty foods (such as those eaten on a trip to new orleans - beignets, po'boys, king cakes and fried chicken). the effects were horrifying and it does make you think before you put those high fat foods in your mouth for fear of those effects occurring at inopportune moments. my friend's boss was on alli for a while and she kept a pack of spare knickers in her desk drawer for such moments!!! gross!! BUT, she did lose some weight though...

Rapid weight loss is never a good thing. My mom had serious hair loss issues after she had emergency gastro surgery last January. Keeping up your protein levels is important for that. Her doc recommended she drink protein water.

I am currently taking Alli, and it definitely works. The side effects are tolerable, and I like knowing that my body isn't absorbing as much fat.

I have been doing research for the past week for Alli and I finally decided to purchase it. I have started my low fat dieting before actually taking the pills. Will be checking in to log my progress.................Crossing my fingers and hping to stay motivated.

Default Me, too!

I feel the same way, Faith; I had a bit of a treatment effect today (nothing embarrassing thank goodness), but I didn't mind -- I want all that nasty ol'fat to vamoose the caboose!

Glad you decided to join us here on the board, loseit09. Let's all stay motivated together.

So far, so good on this, my second try at using Alli. It worked well the first time but I lost focus and stopped taking it. I recommitted myself to the little blue pill (no, not THAT blue pill - teehee), and have lost the first 5 pounds without a whole lot of trouble. I'm eating three balanced meals a day and a snack at night and find that taking Alli curbs my appetite. It doesn't claim to do that, so maybe it's that I've gotten off the big fat/sugar cycle and have stopped craving it. I just have to be mindful to take the pill.

I just take one before each meal whether the food has enough fat or not. I've read a lot of discussion on this board about this: 'if you don't eat enough fat, why waste money on the pill?' Well, I found that getting in the habit of taking it was the thing for me. If I skip one to save money because there's not X amount of fat in the meal, I know I'll end up <<<caution - food porn ahead!>>> buying a box of HoHos. So, the savings I might have seen by not taking the pill would be, well, all eaten up!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Sorry I've been missng for over a week now I've been super busy. So I guess I have to update with 2 weigh ins this time lol. Ok so my last saturday weigh in showed no gain or loss due to that darn TOM but today's weigh in showed a 3 pound loss this week so YAAAAY!!!! That puts me down to 225, 14 pounds lost since starting Alli on January 3rd!

I actually was able to due 45 minutes of cardio yesterday instead of my usual 35. It was pretty hard but I'm still really happy that I was able to do it!

A weird thing happened to me this past week though. I got mild treatment effects without any cause behind it. I've been reading every label and measuring everything I make for my meals and I always come to 19 grams of fat per meal or less. Most of the time it's more like 17 or 18. So I'm a bit confused with how that could have happened unless I mixed up the measuring spoons lol. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Thanks take care everyone!

Hello all, Malik here. I joined this forum at the beginning of the month and just started taking Alli two days ago. Since Feb 2nd I've been on an 1800 calorie diet (I'm a 34 year old, 5'10" male who naturally burns about 2600 calories a day) and have been using store bought and homemade Full Bars to curb my enormous appetite. I track my calories in my Edibles program on my IPhone which makes counting calories pretty effortless since I always have my phone with me.

I'm pretty excited by what I've read on this forum and elsewhere about what Alli can do. I'm trying not to have my expectations too high though. Even if Alli only helps me lose a couple extra pounds over the coming months, that's better than nothing for me.

I applaud all of you for your commitment to this diet thus far. I plan on being active on this thread as I'm taking Alli. Hopefully I can share in some of the successes I’ve read about here!

Hello everyone! I'm just checking in. I have become pretty committed to the Flat Belly Diet in the last couple of weeks, and that's going pretty well. I think I needed more structure than I was getting on Alli. I read some people on that diet were using Alli as well, so I decided to try using up the rest of my Alli while on that. I think it's a good combination! (I started another thread here on the FBD if you want to read more about it). So I'll have to see if this really helps me see results faster!
