I was just looking on line to find out about the Sketchers shape up shoes and found your review. I have been on a weight lost journey for quite some time. I found the 50 million pound challenge page that I joined in February 2008 and I weighed 210. I now weigh 193.8 and don't really know how the weigh came off. I have decided on June 1st I will cut out all junk food, sodas and fried foods. I'm going to try this for 30 days with some walking and exercise and see what the outcome will be. I am a constant snacker so this is going to be truly difficult for me. My children and I took a 30 minute walk today after dinner. I didn't get winded and I did sweat a little. Hopefully I can make this time really count. A friend told me she cut out all breads for 2 weeks and with exercise lost 11 pounds. I also have a friend that says her friend has lost 20 pounds with the shape up shoes just walking her dog twice a day, everyday. Keeping my head up for great results this time.
Welcome, I think you will find that a few small changes can make a big difference in how you feel, but I find being consistant is very important. Don't be discouraged if you find it hard to break the snack habit, that's a tough one, just do the best you can and remember if you slip you can always start again.
Since Chicks can be a little overwhelming at first, you might look into joining a support group or challenge to make friends and help keep you on track.

My neighbor just told me not to deprive myself and to enjoy dinner with my family as usual, but eat a salad, drink water and instead of getting a dinner plate get a saucer ... eat a spoon of everything and keep the water flowing. I never thought to do that for me even though I do it for our little one. She also told me to just grab what my little hand can hold and place it in a snack bag and place them on the table. That way when I want a snack I don't have to go near my husband and our children's snacks. I am definitely gonna use every trick on myself that I can. How do I join a support group? and a challenge group? <--- will definitely help! Thanks for your input

Chicks has all different kinds of groups based on common goals, food or exercise plans, age, etc. Scout around until you find one that seems to be a good fit for you, your plan and goals, then just join my posting. We are all very supportive and welcoming.
Good job noticing the 'similar threads' so soon, I was here about 9 months before I saw them.
May challenge/support threads will start over for June, or pick another time/date. Most age groups have a 'chat' thread also. Smaller groups make it easier to get to know others.
I looked at the one for 40 something also ... I'm sure I'll find one for me. I need to record what I eat, how much I exercise and my weight. I do pretty well when I have a partner, so I will definitely keep looking.
