Hi Fabs-

Thanks for the welcome. We are in that age group where so many of us are dealing with empty nests and aging parents. My DM - not doing well after her 3rd chemo. Was in the hospital now nursing care. It is very sad. Waiting to see if she can get some strength back. She does not know me…

But I came here to focus on me! I’ve been over doing the IP restricted. And, so I gained back the lb I lost. I just have to get 100% OP phase 1 I guess. !&% I’m soo not in the mood for that but I soo enjoyed seeing the needle on the scale go down after being phase 1 for one day. I bought some soy ball restricted….I just can’t be trusted with those things either!!!! I know me. I am an evil carb addict. I have to go back to the very beginning. Taking time to cut up veggies and weighing portions. I CANNOT go back to that wretched salad dressing. But I’ll measure a tablespoon of oil. I thought I could just stick to meat, grab some IP RTDs or restricted bags and be fine. NOT!

My DS is coming over tomorrow and his fiancee will join us for our usually evil carb that we used to have delivered on Friday nights when he lived at home. That’s nice. I will order salad and enjoy their company. I’ll have to make a plan.

Goldi- That veggie recipe sounded delicious.

ChatKat - I saw you over on Golden Girls. I didn’t know you are an IP er.! Good to have company. To get serious about weight, I always have to come to the IP folks. I’ll go over to “rebooter” to get my a$$ kicked to get back on plan. Sometimes, I just need it.

Hugs to you all!

Deelee, sorry to hear that your mom is facing health issues! I will pray for her.

Molly, I meant to say earlier, I am so sorry about your cat. I am a cat person myself and I dread the end.

I saw my cardiologist yesterday and he cut my bp meds in half again. So, now I am taking only 40mg of Diovan, down from 320/25 Diovan/HCT. It is so funny to see these little tiny pills compared to the big horse pills I used to take! 40mg Diovan is about the size of a sprinkle!

I made that cabbage recipe I posted yesterday and like it so much I am making it again today. VERY FILLING and I think it is great! Here it is in case you missed it:

Cabbage, roughly 1.5 cups cut in bite sized pieces
Rutabagus, roughly 0.5 cups cut in bite sized pieces
Leek, sliced
8 oz ham, cut in bite sized pieces

Preheat oven to 400. Put cabbage in a baking dish, then rutabagus, then leek, then ham. Pour 2 cups of water (or leftover water that you cooked vegetables in) over everything. Cover tightly with foil and bake for an hour. Delicious!

Have a great weekend, IPeeps!!

Does anyone know if there are weight gain side effects from this Rx? I was on a z-pack in January when I started this program and sadly learned that Rx can slow weight loss. Anyone know about Doxy? I googled it but the info is not real specific... I am so bummed. Had a WI this morning and was 1/2 lb more today than yesterday. (Crazy because I actually missed dinner!) Was doing great guns too...and shopped yesterday for an outfit to wear when we go to Birmingham in May....I had gone from a size 18 to a 12. I even tried it on again when I got home because I couldn't believe it fit and if it wasn't so darn cold here... I could wear it NOW!
Congratulations on the new smaller size! I was on major antibiotic last winter when I got sick. It didn't slow my weight loss. Sorry I can't remember which I was on. I did find sugarfree cough syrup and throat drops. Hope you heal quickly!

Good morning everyone, yes it's still morning in Saskatchewan. Hope your all doing well. Weigh in this week and its 2.7 lbs down. Yay!!!! Almost halfway there. This week I'm looking for new recipes and food inspiration as I'm getting a little bored. I love food that has great flavor and texture. I need new ways to cook great food that DH and I can both enjoy( he doesn't need to lose weight, he needs to hold on to what he has) oh well, always an adventure and I love trying new recipes.

Hi All,
I'm testing this to see if it works, if it does I'll put it on a thread to share. I think it may be helpful to others if they have Excel and don't want to build something like this themselves to track their progress.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4pD...it?usp=sharing

If it doesn't work - oh well :-) Otherwise let me know if you can get here, and if you think this is helpful at all.

Edit, it appears it works, but to use it, you have to click the little down arrow under File and save it to your computer, or open it at least to get the formulas to work. People might be nervous about doing that.

Hi everyone, Happy Saturday! Just wanted to pop in and see how everyone's doing. This is my 6th day on P3, and so far so good. I was pleased to see this morning when I stepped on the scale that I'm at exactly the same weight as I was when I started P3 on Monday. I'm so happy that I haven't had any lasting glycogen re-gain. I'm sure that my weight goes up through the day (especially after these big P3 breakfasts) but as long as it's back down in the morning that's A-ok with me.

Have a great day!

Good to hear you're doing well with P3. Almost a full week - great job!

It's been a lazy day for me. I'm playing with a recipe organizer I am trying free for 30 days (Living Cookbook 2013). So far it's pretty cool, except the first recipe I went to add with coconut flour, I found coconut flour isn't in the ingredient list. So I've been keying in some of the ingredients I have been using for my DH's Paleo stuff. Then went back to key the recipe in and it's not seeing the new ingredients I just typed in.... I must be doing something wrong. Anyway, that's the bulk of my afternoon. Did some laundry and some dishes, and just sort of putzed around today.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Let us know how the recipe organizer works out. Might be real useful as you know how many recipes I have.

Good morning, all.

Work up with my head stuffed up. Now that I'm up, it's Niagra Falls from the sinuses. The other night I was cold then hot and now this. Doesn't look good for me.

Maintenance is going well. Since starting P3 and moving into P4, it's been a month. I've been weighing every few days, but have not logged all my Omron stats for that month. It was interesting to see. I've lost 2.8#, still overweight with the BMI (oh well), lost .4 fat and increased muscle by .1 plus my age went down another year and is now 2 years (almost 3 - birthday in May) below my actual age and my visceral fat dropped another point. Now to keep this up for many more months.

Glad to see all on this thread are doing well. I am keeping busy trying to sort and get things ready for a yard sale next weekend. I have bags and bags and bags of clothes plus all this stuff I'm trying to downsize and 22 years of antique selling stuff. Almost a worse headache than the sinus headache I have right now.

Have a good Sunday. Stay OP. That's the only way it works.

Molly

Good morning Molly. Sorry you are not feeling 100%, but great news that you're maintaining a-okay. Congrats on growing younger with your Omron!
I bolded your reminder. I know I have nothing to complain about with my losses, but as all of us have felt and delt with at times - I'm feeling pudgy and plump this past week.... I know I'm not slim, but some days I feel like I'm getting there - just not this week - at all. The scale hasn't moved either direction, so pondering how much of this is actually just emotion, or back talk in my head, or the big "C" that I've refused to acknowledge. I need one of these http://www.amazon.com/Pooped-Today-F...+today+t+shirt Regardless your reminder just made me feel better about how I'm feeling.

The Living Cookbook 2013 says you can import recipes from a text file. If you can save a couple recipes of yours in that format and email them, I'll check and see how easy that is just to confirm that - or I might just try it on my own. I have a program (snag-it) that can take a screen shot and convert it to text. I liked it so well from work, I bought it for home use.

It's going to be a pretty day today. It snowed yesterday and it's still cold today, but the sun's out!

Hi everyone!
I LOVE Molly's reminder about staying OP!

Just got off the phone with my Maintaining Mom. She's up about 5 (some was P3 gain) and she's already set a reboot day (April 1, I think. Wonder if she's pulling my leg ?)

So, we're getting a last-blast (I hope) snowstorm. It looks like a snowglobe outside right now! 8 inches in the forecast for St Louis today

If my back felt better, I'd build a snowman later or take DH outside for a

Alas, I'm stuck inside. The back just can't take it yet.

I have an appointment with a different specialist on Tuesday. (Glad its not tomorrow! STL has a tendency to shut down with "big" snows.) He's a sports medicine doc and I've been to him before but its been a couple years. I've been pretty consistently doing the exercises the PT he sent me to had me doing so now I need to figure out -- what else can we do? I'm too young for this! I probably brought it on myself from years of sedentary obesity but for goodness sake...I wanna fix it!

My WI is tomorrow at 7:30 am. Guessing that will be cancelled. The road crews don't keep up well with snow around here. I'm a Michigan girl. Drivers here just make me shake my head. I stay "in" because I'm afraid of them! I learned how to drive on snow and ice. These people are nuts!

So, today will be house cleaning and I'm going to make some "IP" Mushroom soup. I gave up soup packets when I gave up soy. I have some plain Syntrax nectar and some great recipes from a very generous evepet so today'll be a good day to experiment.

Oh yeah! One more thing! I'm a HUGE college basketball fan (how many girls go to a basketball game for their 50th birthday?)! My green guys are in yet another Sweet Sixteen. I might be traveling to Indy next weekend.
(wish these guys weren't yellow...they remind me of the rivals)

:-) We both keyed in on that reminder that's so cool. Hey tell your Mom we're rooting for her! 4/1 sounds like a fine date for a reboot. Enjoy your snow day.

Hi everyone. Thought I'd check in here and see what's happening.

Molly - Congrats on those new Omron #s. I love that we're getting younger and younger! Sorry you're sick - hope it's short-lived! And ITA that's a great reminder to stay OP.... 'Keep On Truckin' and eventually you get where you want to be.

Lisa - Glad you're enjoying the soups! I'm still making them from time to time, even though I'm on P3 and really should always be having a 'real' protein at lunch these days. I find it such a handy lunch that I sneak it in a couple of times/wk still (Shh..). In fact, I've also got a package of mushroom in my fridge right now, destined for the soup pot soon. So sorry to hear that your experiencing these problems with your back. I know from personal experience that chronic back pain can be a Be-Itch.

HalfAgain - Maybe it's time for some Smooth Move tea? I know I have to keep myself regular, or I get feeling kind of blah and sluggish. I've been taking some extra magnesium before bedtime - generally 200mg - and it not only helps me sleep more soundly, but seems to help with the regularity issue as well.

Got on the scale this am and was surprised that I've dropped almost another lb. This seems amazing to me, given these hugh P3 breakfasts - but there you are. I was petrified I was going to have significant glycogen regain, but so far it seems to be going in the other direction. I've been using mostly grains like organic oat bran & oatmeal, flax meal, almond flour, quinoa, etc for my P3 breakfasts so far ...... not much wheat. Can't help but wonder if this is making a difference.

Have a great day everyone!

Evepet: how 'bout chicken/veggie soup? I can only have it for dinner but you can have the meat protein in there for lunch (instead of "sneaking" protein powder). If soups work for you for lunch, have soup!

I roast a whole chicken first.
Then I skin it
Remove the meat from the bones. Throw the carcass in a pot to make stock (google "bone broth" if its new to you)

In the meantime, I chop a leek (you could have REAL onion), bok choy, celery, mushrooms, (you could add some colorful carrots!), and the meat. Into the pot with the bone broth I made last time I cooked a chicken (I never buy chicken broth).

Actually, that's a good idea... and exactly what I should do this afternoon - make a batch of soup or stew so it's ready for lunches for the next few days. I have stuff already on hand for beef stew - the mushrooms would go well in that, with some rutabaga, celery chunks, and onion. No carrots quite yet though - I'm still P3 for another week, and I'm thinking carrots are still off limits until I hit Maintenance. Next week!
