There are two gums out there recommended made with xylitol. One is spry gum and the other is epic gum. You will find both if you do a search on amazon dot com.

I'm a bit confused about this gum thing.....

My coach said it was fine to use sweetener in my coffee every morning, BUT I dont use sweetner in my coffee so I figured I could have 1 piece of gum as opposed to using sweetner.

Am I just thinkin too hard here.....lol.

I tried to have a completely IP Thanksgiving, but it just didn't work out. The cauliflower puree was just... off.

I pretty much ate what I wanted at dinner in smaller portions than previous years and then I had slices of each pie.

But this morning I weighed the same as yesterday and today I have absolutely no cravings for carbs.

Today is Week 3 for me and I am at 16 lbs lost.

I also got my Nashua Nutrition box full of the Soy Puff snacks- I have been dying for something salty and crunchy! I'll have them tomorrow as today is Bootcamp!

Most sugar free gums are 1 g carb each piece. Dentyne Cinnamon does not have aspartame.

In moderation, I don't think it hurts, a whole pack in a day, might.

There are also some and I do mean "some" 0 0 0 gums out there, like Spry, but you can find them in the store if you look hard.

I think the aspartame and the carb is the biggest concern!

The Trident I chew has sucralose and xylitol. It used to be made with aspartame because once in a while I'll pick up a package and it still says aspartame--so I don't get it. It still does have 1 carb per piece though, so I only have max 2 a day. I don't really think that that would throw me out of ketosis, seeing as my 3 IP type foods that I eat are crispy cereal (7 carbs), pudding (1,3) and chocolate drink (9 instead of 7 now! boo). That only adds up to about 21 carbs *with the gum* per day--as opposed to if I had eaten a restricted food (allowed once a day) for example, cookies n cream bar: 17 carbs, plus cereal, pudding ~27 without the gum. I usually don't eat a restricted item unless I have an intense workout (~ 1.5 hours of cardio/strength training).

I'm trying my best to stay positive and not get frustrated because in the past 2 weeks I've only lost 1.8--it's easy to stay on this and be OK with things when you're losing big, but boy is it a test when you can barely eat anything and you aren't losing hardly for the amount of sacrificing you do.

Does anyone know of compatible IP vitamins to purchase either online or in the store?

I have read the alternative thread - all 17 pages and a brand is not mentioned!

try taking the IP bottle to a vitamin store like GNC or super supplements and see if they can recommend one.

Hi all. Good job to you all who resisted all the unhealthy foods yesterday. I had turkey, asparagus, and then the chocolate muffin with some caramel drizzled on top of it. Yum! I was also looking on Facebook laughing at everyone who stuffed themselves silly and my family members, then 3 hours later, they were hungry again! I'm so proud that I ate a good Thanksgiving in......forever! Have a great weekend all!

Red face I'm new

Hello,
My boyfriend and I have been on the IP diet for 1 week now. We finally decided to make the big change together. It's been really tough and I guess I'm searching for some encouragment. I'm 18 years old and David is 20, and we are so tired of being over 300lbs. The first week of the diet I lost 8lbs so I'm at 292lbs now. David was 311lbs and is now at 305lbs. I've never made it past week 2 of a diet, so I am a little nervous. I joined this site because everyone on here has gone through this or is still pushing through. I guess i just hope to find a new home on this site, to go to when things get tough.

and good for you both. You can do this. 2 weeks....... look at it as one (as i'm svelting says) or even just from one meal to the next. Don't psych yourself out. IP (Ideal Protein) is a great way to eat and lose weight and this forum is the BEST! When I need a boost or some willpower this is where I come. I read/stop by here everyday. Look at the success stories on teh main page that will give you great inspiration.
and
hope to see you in the forums everyday!

P.S. Just wanted to say thanks for everyone's help in trying to help me figure out why I'm not losing as much these days. (Forgot to mention that in my previous post about the gum because I was in a rush.)

Very good suggestion and the next time I am out shopping I am going to stop at GNC!

A little about my weight loss journey--started about January of this year with portion control, eating whole grains, lean meats, veggies, fruits, and low fat dairy, along with a lot of exercise...starting weight was my highest ever: 291.8, lost 89.8 and was at 202, then started to gain a little throughout a few weeks and felt control slipping away a little bit--went up to 208, and decided (after much reading/hearing about how others did on the program) to join IP to finish off my weight loss. I'm currently at 107.2 down, (23.4 down in ~5 1/2 weeks on IP).

I'm so thankful to have found this forum because I know very few people following this program, and everyone here seems so encouraging and full of inventive ideas!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I am sorry I did not get a chance to welcome you on Wednesday. WELCOME!

Rachie and Davallie!! You all have found one of the very best programs!! Ideal Protein Eating Program will teach you how to eat healthy in 4 phases or steps; and it works!!!!!
Please invest some time to go through the stickies and threads....it will be so worth it as they are full of great information, ideas and recipes.
This daily chat thread is wonderful for daily support, encouragement and new friends!!
Another great tool I found helped me so much is: www.fitday.com it is a free tool that will help you track your food intake, and you can input your Ideal Protein food in as custom and from the 1st time it will automatically trace your calories, fat, carbs, protein...I use it every day!! I invested $30.00 and got the paid version and haven't regretted it one bit.
Have a great day!!
Gaile
