Somehow I'm down 6 pounds! I just started so I know I should be that excited but it's still nice to see the scale move down. It's even lower than it was this morning which is very strange to me but I'll go with it.

As soon as I get my signature I'm adding some kind of 5 pd lost thing and a thracker! Thanks for the motivation guys. I can't wait until I get my meals on Monday.

Doing good with eating and exercise this weekend. Going to try walking for 5 miles today. Yesterday I was a little discouraged. I gained a pound. I didn't cheat. But then this morning I was down that pound and 2 more. I have no idea what was going on.

Congrats on the loss Jolie!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Barbara- There is a really good article on weight fluctuation on the South beach part of these boards under frequently asked questions about why scales lie, you may want to check it out, it sure makes sence to me, being woman we can hold water and realease it fast, You are doing AWSOME and your weight has nowhere it can go but down

Is it too late to join in? If not, I would love be a part of this challenge. I am relatively new to this forum. I am calorie counting (1400) and trying to only eat healthy food within those 1400 calories. I started in August at 260 and now am at 240. For Thanksgiving, I would be thankful for being 10lbs less and of course thankful for all the support given to me in this forum.

For exercise, I do 30 min on the treadmill in the am and then try to do 30 min of wii fit in the pm. I work full time and my kids are now grownups at 24 and 22. I am finding that the more I plan meals and plan my exercise the better I do. I don't want to leave myself with having to make rash decisions on food. This of course means a lot of focusing on myself. Which at this point in my life is overdue. At least I don't have little ones any more. I give credit to those that do and can take care of themselves at the same time. I have made this commitment to myself with the hopes of getting healthy and being around for any grandchildren in the future.

Thank you, Christie. I'll have to check that out. It does make sense with the water.

Welcome Hattie! Congrats on your weight loss! Good luck for your Thanksgiving goal.

Would it be alright if I joined you?

I just signed up a short bit ago, and I just started on my diet two days ago, so I've not weighed myself since then....

I'm on the South Beach Diet, since it did amazing things for my sister (until she got preggers... ha!) and I've been thus motivated. I understand that you lose quite a bit in the beginning of the SBD, and my ideal goal is to do 3 or 4 weeks of Phase 1, because I have half of myself to lose.

I'd like to lose 10% of my current weight by Thanksgiving - which would be 25 pounds. Considering I'm fairly carb-addicted and sedentary, that shouldn't be too hard with the fact that I'm SB-ing and getting off my fat butt.

Hey everyone! I'm joining this challenge. My last weighin on 10/4 put me at 162. Thanksgiving is about 8 weeks away, so I'm setting my goal for -8 pounds.

Hi ya chicks, I'm back! My computer is still ill but my DH and I are sharing a laptop. Brand new start 7weeks 3days till Thanksgiving.
current weight: 150.8lbs
goal for challenge: 143.8lbs

plan of action
primarily South Beach way of eating
drink 64oz water/day
run 3x's week
strength 2x's week
actively post in this challenge

Lori~ good luck on WW I had much success with that plan after 2nd pregnancy

Hattie~Your plan sounds great. Good for you for taking your "me" time. I have 3 kids (20month old, 8yr, 10yr old) I decided to start taking some of my "me" time @ Feb. I felt very selfish at first. I was always the Mom who tucked the kids to bed at night, made sure everyone else was taken care of first. Now I let my DH put the kids to bed twice a week so I can go run or the other night I made dinner and asked them to eat without me. And we always eat dinner together at night. I realized it gives DH some quality time with them too and they actually survive without me. It was really hard in the beginning to not be the one doing it all. I'm now 34lbs lighter and went from not being able to jog for 60 seconds to running 5K's. My kids are proud of me and I'm setting a great example of a healthy lifestyle. Good luck on those 10lbs!

Jolie~I predict the numbers will drop back down after TOM. I could never weigh myself at night after eating. Brave soul

Jess~ 25lbs is a huge goal. I'd tell you it can't be done but I was able to lose 20lbs on ww in about 8 weeks after I had daughter#1. Stick to your plan, exercise your behind off, and drink your water. Good luck!

Tamara~Good luck on your 8lbs. Do you have a plan of action?

Christie~Congrats on being under 160. You said it feels too good to mess up. I felt the same way. I did end up messing up though and gained 3lbs. The great thing about South Beach is it's not too hard to fix your mistakes. Any other plan I would have fallen off the wagon and been done for. Wishing you continued success!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the scale finally moved and I am down 1 more pound. YEAH!!

I am really hoping that I can stay very strict OP this week because we are going away next weekend and I am going to need some wiggle room.

Meanwhile, I had a mini-triumph yesterday that I have to share. My best friend invited us over last night and she made homemade carrot cake!!! CARROT CAKE! Hmmmmm.... I LOVE carrot cake! I really, really love carrot cake!

And I didn't eat any!!!! She packed a plate of to go carrot cake that is sitting right here on my kitchen counter, right now! And I'm not eating that either!!! So, I am feeling really strong and good right now. (Although I am really hoping that my kids eat this carrot cake after school so it is not still here tomorrow.)
