Congrats Jelly!! Wow 11 months

And Congrats Wuv for not murdering a kid today LOL.

Well, I have had a fairly boring, dull weekend so far, but its Canada Day here so we have tomorrow off, so all packed up and off to the lake tomorrow with the 'other' chicks in my life (wife and 3 daughters and female dog). Should be a good day, supposed to be hot and sunny. Likely have to drag the kids around on the tube all day.

As far as IP goes, I do beleive I have figured out my problem...or one of my problems regarding slow losses. I for sure was out of ketosis (not sure how) but the last 2 days have been he!!, headaches, and all the crap from week one, but down 3 pounds in the last week, so it appears I screwed something up, but dont know what. Supposed to be on P2 for the holiday this week but when I saw the scale moving P1 it was...Im going to change my coaches plan, and stay P1 until 3 days before we go then do 3 days of P3 then resume P1 when I get back home to finish up to my goal. Should be interesting...Glad the headaches are over-WOW they were gooders...

Well I stayed 100% through another vacation and can't wait to see what the scale says tomorrow!

Glad to be back and I will hopefully get caught up soon.

I haven't quite figured out where I am supposed to post if I have a question. So if this isn't it then I'm sorry. My quick question is: I made roasted zucchini tonight and measured out a cup when I roasted it it obviously shrank. Am I supposed to count the cup of veggies when they are cooked or uncooked? They were delicious by the way. :)

Thank you!!!

Best place to post is in the daily thread, it gets tons of action so you will get a quick answer.

Always measure your meats and veggies pre-cooked...

I have a general IP question...How come NOBODY, myself included seems to get told that you weigh your veggies and meats uncooked?? I swear each and every new member here asks this question, as did I when I joined...

Pretty sure its a coaching conspiracy of some sort...

Hey Everybody
I have to say, I have missed you all.
Just popping in to say hi. I have been away from the computer for a couple weeks, I had to make a conscious effort to try to stay away from the computer a bit because I was spending way to much time on here. (and on Facebook and playing games on Facebook) School ended for my DD and I was always on the computer then had to rush to get my daily stuff done and to get ready for the big party we are having this month. My DD starts camp today so I am glad that I made time for her the last couple weeks. I wish I could learn moderation when it comes to the internet. lol

Congrats on all the losses !!! ( I had lost 2 lbs last week)

Dana, Gonnabe50,- - Love seeing your pics, what pretty ladies you are
Liz, - you are stunning in your new pic and Jelly- wow you are a beauty.. your legs are rocking.

Happy 4th of July week all! It is going to be gloriously 100% OP. So this morning I did something I have pretty much avoided and weighed myself at home. I am sooo excited...unofficially I am beyond my 1/2 way there mark! Can't wait to officially be at the 1/2 way mark and am hopeful that it is there on Thursday!

Good morning, everyone! Hope you had a good weekend!

Dana and Diana, your pictures are great! Wow, I never realized that waking up early was part of ketosis! I've been up earlier these past two weeks than ever!

Today I'll say bye to my daughters and granddaughters and make the 4 hour trek home. It's been a great week and a half and tomorrow I'll have my second official WI, even though I had an unofficial one last week.

Yesterday was the big birthday party for the one-year-old twins. I'm proud to say I stayed 100% OP the whole time, and the whole week, except once when I forgot to take my Cal-mags at night because I was so tired! This was really an experience to be prepared for this trip. I tried to cook whenever I could, but had RTDs and veggies ready for emergencies when the family went out for lunch or dinner. Luckily, two babies meant minimal restaurant time! :dizzy::dizzy:

It was fun when I took my 3 yr-old granddaughter to the Children's Museum and we stopped for a snack. She ate her Pirate's Booty (Cheese puffs) and I ate my SW cheese puffs. We were 2 happy ladies!

Question: There was a deli platter last night and I decided to eat the roast beef and baked turkey on it for my meat. Couldn't weigh it before cooking because it was cooked already. I'm pretty sure that is OP, isn't it? It was the least processed of the meats. This is the first time I've had that kind of meat and not meat or fish that I cook. Is this ok? I will also ask my coach.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning all, hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, they go by way too fast! NSV: Been shopping in my closet, amazing that I have another whole wardrobe since I dropped sizes (do we women ever get rid of too small clothes?). If I had waited too long to start trying on old clothes, they would be too big to wear. It all still feels sureal to be losing at the rate I am being a 59 yr old post menopausal woman:faint:

Have a happy Monday all :cloud9:

Congratulations Carol! Good to see your beautiful face today! You are a touch of sunshine! I understand about the staying off the computer, though. You kind of miss out on your Real life. But the friendships here feel real to me especially in our time of need on IP. You are a very big reason I come here.

You are doing so well!! And you are right about not getting rid of the skinny clothes; we never want to give in to the fact we will stay fat; because we won't!!! I am with you on the age and being postmenopausal; I couldn't seem to lose any thing more on conventional diets so I started IP. I am not moving down the scales as fast as you; but I am still grateful. I am grateful for you and being able to see your progress and lovely posts! You are great!!:hug:

We parked on the river, walked to the french market, then down to Bourbon St then back to the river. We got there at noon and didn't leave until 630 so I guess I got a little exercise today....lol. They were all drinking, I had my bottle of water (1 liter) the GF's mom said what do you want to drink? I said nothing I have my water she said NOOOO I mean this kinda drink, pointing to her hurricane....I said nope can't have it and don't want it I'll keep drinking my water! THEN they go into the Candy store to get candy, pralines AND Caramel apples so I put a piece of gum in my mouth while I am waiting for them outside cuz I KNEW they were going to ask if I wanted some. I was right...when they came out they were like YOU GOTTA TASTE THIS....I said no thanks I just put a piece of gum in my mouth. soooooooooooo proud of you....i had a similar long 4 day weekend out of town and am soooo glad that it is over and i am back home in my safe little surroundings!!! IT WAS THE HARDEST 4 DAYS since i started this!!! i was surrounded by family who never even noticed that i had lost 48 pounds since the last time they saw me, not one person said anything to me....and surrounded by tons of non-legal foods, and parties and celebrations, and it was HARD...but i am so thrilled to say i was 100% OP the entire time!!! IT WAS HARD....and i thought several times in my head, i cant do this...once i even retreated to the bathroom crying to get away from the food....but then i kept thinking in my heart....luv could do this....meadow would do this...cadu could do this, jelly would do this...longhorn would do this...newpath could do this....mompattie can do this....everyone here in this thread WOULD DO THIS....So wipe your eyes and put on your big girl panties and get back out there and JUST DO IT TO!!!....so thats what i did!! :) but i sure am glad to be back home away from all that!!

... packed up and off to the lake tomorrow with the 'other' chicks in my life (wife and 3 daughters and female dog). Should be a good day, supposed to be hot and sunny. Likely have to drag the kids around on the tube all day. ...Glad the headaches are over-WOW they were gooders...

Looks like everyone was "tested" this weekend with food and looks like we all passed with flying colors. Its a great feeling to have control and NOT want to eat the junk we used too. Yes, it looks and smells amazing but that is all it is....a smell....the taste would only last a few seconds and its not worth the set back in my book.

Carol, I was going to get on here this morning and asked if anyone had seen you around, you were missed that is for sure! Addicted is not even the word for me....lol....I bring my laptop with me to work so that I can get on here when I have down time just incase someone "needs" me....lol

Jelly, I remember the day you started....I said to myself...SHE is going to be my partner....and look at us now....between the 2 of us we have loss over 300lbs! AMAZING what we have done in 11 months isn't it?

Have a safe drive home. As for the deli meat, it really depends if it was sliced fresh or did it come from a package? Often times the packaged meat will have added sugar and nitrates. Don't worry about it too much as we sometimes get into situations that we just have to make it work, and this was one of them.

Good morning all, hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, they go by way too fast! I hear you on the over 50 and post menopausal issue, 55 years old here. Once I was on the other side of menopause I just couldn't loose on other plans, but thankfully that wasn't the issue with IP. I will say though that loosing the actual body fat HAS been a challenge, but I also knows that problem comes with menopause. My body holds onto that like it's gold, oh well.

.....................
I hope everyone has a good Monday! I just got back from a nice long walk with my daughter and one of my dogs. Tomorrow I told her lets do it earlier as it's just too hot and humid outside now if we wait past 8am. Not a whole lot going on today other than to start getting my 14 year old ready for camp. He's leaving for his three week camp up in the Yosemite mountains. He goes evey year and I always miss him, but also enjoy three weeks of a clean teenage bedroom and a break from video games (for him and us).

Have a great day everyone...:)

My computer is acting up today, so all my replies got eaten up. so I will just say HAPPY MONDAY folks! Staying strong OP 100%! My home scale showed a -2lb whoosh since Fri, so I'm feeling good about my next official meet up with my coach.

I was just thinking about last week - I had been nursing a 2lb gain most of the week, I wasn't too overly concerned though since I knew I was OP 100% and that things happen. But little did I know that my body composition would show such a dramatic change, losing -2lb and gaining 4lb muscle turned any dissappointment I might have had into a HUGE HAPPY victory. I guess that's one example of how you really have to be sure to track every stat, not just pounds, but inches and body fat % too. We are more than just a number on a scale - our bodies really are doing wonderful, crazy things!

Have a great day everyone...:)

 Dana...just wanted to say i LOVE your new avatar!! YOU are truly a stunning beauty!!!! And look at how far you have come...94 pounds!!!! you are almost to the 100 pound milestone!! I can't even begin to think how proud and happy you must feel!!! What an amazing accomplishment! You are showing me that I can not use my age as an excuse!!!! You are teaching me that it is possible!!! Thank you for being such a great example to follow and I am so thrilled and proud of your journey!! Keep up the great work!! Your beauty is such an enjoyment!! :)

Hunger snuck up on a few hours after my spinach and WB yogi shake. I pondered this and realized that I have not had any oil today. So...I poured myself one teaspoon of EVOO, did a shot, and chased it with a Zesty pickle(gotta do what we gotta do!)

WINNING!!!!:D

Hi!

I completely maintained today.
I lost no weight
Lost no inches
BFI same as last week, exactly.

My coach is dumbfounded, because I have been 100%

So she said she wants me to mix things up a little,

have a bar for breakfast 2 times during the week.
I plan to nix the Splenda.
Mix the iceberg and the Romain lettuces,

and see how it goes.

I am actually pretty happy because I can wear 2 sizes lower. And I know if I just keep gong 100%, it will eventually all come off;).

It's been a while since I've been able to sit and catch up on the threads, wow volume 9 already! I am definitely at 100% and so glad to see so many others here.

My mom has been visiting this week, saw me for the first time since starting the program in January. On one hand she is supportive but on the other she worries about lack of fruit, throwing out my big clothes just in case, how I will manage when we go on our trip in September (cruise ship=food to her), etc. It is a bit of a challenge to keep on the positive around her but food wise there has been no thoughts of going off program. On the good side, I had planned to take her to her favorite ice cream place while here but said I would just be having water so she said no she wouldn't make me go then. And since my birthday is coming up, she took me shopping so I could buy some needed smaller clothes. I was thrilled to find larges and size 14 instead of XXL and 18/20s.

Yesterday I drove her to stay with her 2 brothers for a week so I get a bit of a break, then she is back with me with another week until we drive together to her home in Vancouver. I'm looking forward to the drive with a stop at a relatives along the way. I'm already figuring out what packets and veggies to take on the trip. I'll be away from my coach for 3 weeks but will be checking in here for support.

Since so many people have braved up and posted pics, I've finally done the same. It really is an eye opener to see the before and after together but I also see more progress to go.

You are way too kind, thank you very much. Truthfully I never thought I could loose this amount of weight. The 100 pound goal will have to wait for another month or so as I have two more trips coming up and I have decided to take this time off to maintain and let my body get use to this new normal for me. Once back from my last trip in August it will be time to get back to phase 1 to finish the job.

I always look forward to your kind words to everyone and the support you always offer. Thank you very much for all that you do on this board.

Yes, it will come off. I do have Splenda occasionally, but my coach has said no because it has been known to slow some down. I generally use Stevia packets which are okay to use with IP, as it's all natural. Hope the changing things around helps.

Hello everyone! I am back from vacation and weighed this morning and lost 5 pounds! Woot woot! That is why I stay 100% OP, even on vacation!

I went to a wedding and saw so many people I havent seen in a long time so it was very fun shocking everyone with my 70 pound weight loss!

It sounds like everyone else is doing well, I am sure I have missed bunches but that is what vacation is all about.

How long have you been on the program? Can you list a simple day menu so we can look at it and make a few suggestion perhaps? Flatline is a good thing, of course we want to see something move but it happens. Hang in there :)

I have been OP for 5 weeks and have lost 14 pounds

I have an IP pudding for BF, and usually an IP omlett or soup with veggies such as mushrooms, zuccini and celery (2cups measured faithfully). I use 1 -2 Tbs olive oil to sauté the veggies. Use 1/2 t sea salt with it. Dinner is a protein source, 6 oz chicken or turkey cuttlette, maybe steak once per week. I weigh this as well. No skin or bone.
I have 2 cups veggies and some lettuce, too, sometimes with WF salad dressing.

Used a great recipe for fried rice I found here using cawluflower. Super good, but had garlic and soy sauce...could that have thrown me off? I made it twice in a row for dinner.

Snack is at 7:00 p.m. And is a chocolate pudding.

I drink at least 64 oz of water a day. Sometimes I use Splenda, which I am now going to cut out. :p

.I said nope can't have it and don't want it I'll keep drinking my water! Steven looks at me, rolls his eyes and lips to me....MOM I am sorry....I just smiled, winked at him and said I got this...he said OH I KNOW you do....lol...it was a good time but I was glad to come home

Way to go Lisa! I love how much easier it gets to say no to food. You have a wonderful son.

Hey all... Made of though another weekend... Tomorrow makes the 11 month mark... Can't believe I've made it this far... Looking forward to see what the next couple of months will bring... I'm glad the weather is warmer... Definitely makes it easier to drink all this water ;)

Congrats on making it to the 11 month mark! I'm so happy that the scale is moving for you again.

As far as IP goes, I do beleive I have figured out my problem...or one of my problems regarding slow losses. I for sure was out of ketosis (not sure how) but the last 2 days have been he!!, headaches, and all the crap from week one, but down 3 pounds in the last week, so it appears I screwed something up, but dont know what...

I'm happy that you figured out what the problem was. I hope you figure out what knocked you out of ketosis. You might check the labels of your spices for sugar. I was using a spice blend when I first started that had sugar in it. Have a great vacation!

According to my gym scale, I am down 3 lbs from last week. (I weigh in on both on weigh in day....just in case I need a sneak peeek.) I sure hope that I can pull off a 3lb loss this week. Tom is still lurking in the shadows and today I feel nauseaus and I have a CRAZY, LONG, STRESSFUL day to pull off.........With this said, I am going to make today a GREAT day!!

I'm right there with you. TOM is lurking and making me crave chocolate. This week I bought cookies n cream bars and chocolate drink mix from my clinic, and I'll probably have a Carmel nut bar for breakfast tomorrow. I love that IP gives me OP options to feed the chocolate Jones...

Hello everyone! I am back from vacation and weighed this morning and lost 5 pounds! Woot woot!

Yippe! That's a fantastic loss.

I had my WI today. I was down 2.6 for 95+ pounds. I'm so ready to reach 100! I was whining to my coach about how I miss my 3 pound loss weeks, and she said I could cut out restricteds if I want to change things up. I thought about it and told her that I wasn't going to change anything. I'm just getting impatient because I'm so close to goal. IP has been working for me, and I like having my bar for breakfast. Why fix what isn't broken?

If you are using your oil allotment to cook you are likely not getting it all in as some is left in the pan. Your plan looks very low in fat. You need some fat to lose fat.
I did the same thing and stalled for a long time. Then I noticed I only lost when I ate out and I put olive oil on my salad when I ate out. So I started to measure out my olive oil and add it to my large daily salad. I also added more beef, I was using all fish and chicken breast for my protein. My losses picked up again when I did these two things.

Good idea. I was down on muscle mass 2 weeks ago, so that could be it.

Also, it was low sodium soy sauce.

It seems counterintuitive...my diet history :)

i had a similar long 4 day weekend out of town and am soooo glad that it is over and i am back home in my safe little surroundings!!! IT WAS THE HARDEST 4 DAYS since i started this!!! i was surrounded by family who never even noticed that i had lost 48 pounds since the last time they saw me, not one person said anything to me.....everyone here in this thread WOULD DO THIS....So wipe your eyes and put on your big girl panties and get back out there and JUST DO IT TOO!!!....so that's what i did!! :) but i sure am glad to be back home away from all that!!
:D

Rainbow, My heart goes out to you on this one. Family gatherings can be hard sometimes anyway, but you are absolutely right! Everyone on this thread would notice and support you. You are a strong, courageous, and kind soul and in going through this experience you are becoming even stronger! My feeling is that they noticed (how could they not notice that 48 pounds were missing....) but chose not to call attention to it. Sometimes we need to tell them what we need. But also know that you know it within yourself.

We parked on the river, walked to the french market, then down to Bourbon St then back to the river. ... They were all drinking, I had my bottle of water (1 liter) the GF's mom said what do you want to drink? I said nothing I have my water .....I said no thanks I just put a piece of gum in my mouth. Steven looks at me, rolls his eyes and lips to me....MOM I am sorry....I just smiled, winked at him and said I got this...he said OH I KNOW you do....lol...it was a good time but I was glad to come home

Yay, New Orleans! I bet you had an "inner wink" moment there. I also found that it's easier to stay on this diet 100%, because of the results and because we know that any little thing may throw it all off. You did great, here, wuv!

NSV: Been shopping in my closet, amazing that I have another whole wardrobe since I dropped sizes (do we women ever get rid of too small clothes?)... It all still feels sureal to be losing at the rate I am being a 59 yr old post menopausal woman:faint:

Have a happy Monday all :cloud9:

I try on my "next size clothes" almost every day. Each day they are a little more loose. One more week and I'm into the next size! Yes, (also Dana) I hear you on the post-menopausal, etc. Hmmm, but you mean HOT post-meopausal woman!

Was it sliced fresh or did it come from a package? Often times the packaged meat will have added sugar and nitrates. Don't worry about it too much as we sometimes get into situations that we just have to make it work, and this was one of them. Have a great day everyone...:)

That's exactly what my coach said this morning when I asked her.

Congratulations on your 94 pound loss! That's amazing! What an inspiration you are!

Wow, 70 pounds! And 5 more on vacation! That's great! I just got back from 10 days away and stayed on 100% also. It's challenging, but very doable!

Getting ready for my WI in an hour. This will be my Week 2 and 3 WI, even though I had an unofficial WI last week at the twins' pediatrician.

Question: How do I get my ticker to change the current weight without having to create it all over again? Is there a quick way to do this?

Well I WI this morning because we are closed tomorrow AND I am DOWN 3 more lbs!!!....that is right, 219lbs!!......woohooo....what a feeling this is...its going to be a good 4th of July, I have a lot to celebrate!

Congrats to you! You also were away! :cheer3:

Have a great day, everyone!

Hello!
This is my first time posting but I have been reading this thread for a while. I started IP last Thursday but I had my first weigh in today and lost 10.5 lbs! YAY! I have been lucky enough to have no hunger or headaches at all and I am feeling so great since starting the diet. I just want to say that you are all such an inspiration and reading your posts is what gave me the nudge to go ahead and start. Thank you!

I'm finding clothes that I simply forgot were there :D
Smooches

i know what you mean!! What was old can become "new " again!!:)

I was thrilled to find larges and size 14 instead of XXL and 18/20s.

Since so many people have braved up and posted pics, I've finally done the same. It really is an eye opener to see the before and after together but I also see more progress to go.

woohooooooooooooo :carrot::carrot: on those size 14's!!! oooo i can dream!!! one day!! :) i bet you were just so happy when you put on those sz 14's!!! well done!!

and your pictures are sooooooooooo pretty!!! i love your hair and look at that smile!!! LOOK AT THAT SMILE!!! :D

You are way too kind, thank you very much. Truthfully I never thought I could loose this amount of weight. The 100 pound goal will have to wait for another month or so as I have two more trips coming up and I have decided to take this time off to maintain and let my body get use to this new normal for me. Once back from my last trip in August it will be time to get back to phase 1 to finish the job.

i LOVE that you have such a great plan and know where you are going with this protocol!! Where are you going on your trips??? I found out that trips for me are difficult haha!!! I seem to do better in my own little surroundings!! I will learn to adjust!!

WOW!!!!!! 5 pounds lost while on vacation!!! THAT is amazing!! You did outstanding to accomplish that task!! Way to go!! :yay:

I bet it was super exciting to surprise everyone with your weight loss. 70 pounds is A-MAZ-ING!!!! :cheer: :cheer: Keep it up!!!

I had my WI today. I was down 2.6 for 95+ pounds. I'm so ready to reach 100! . Why fix what isn't broken?

OMG!!!! 95 pounds!!! THAT IS PHENOMENAL!!! and you are soooooooooooooo right....DON'T TRY TO FIX WHAT ISN'T BROKEN!! omg...YOU GOT THIS...its obvious that you knw what is working for YOU....keep doing what you are doing and soon we are going to be celebrating with the 100 pound loss dance!!!  :carrot: :jig: :cb:  :woohoo::broc:

Rainbowsmiles!!! Welcome home beautiful woman! I missed you and am so very proud of you. You did it!!! Not only did you do it but you did it fabulous!:hug::hug:

I am very happy you made it back safe and sound!

meadow.....THANK YOU A BILLION TIMES OVER DEAR FRIEND!! omg....i have such renewed admiration for mothers with children still at home and doing this protocol!!! My 2 grandsons are back with me for the week and omg...its ....well....i won't even mention all the food in the house at the moment...so no one gets tempted....but its all the foods that young boys ages 8 and 11 love!! and IT IS HARD!!! i have been making their breakfast, lunches and dinners in a hurry hahaha and then letting them eat in the sunroom to watch the birds and turtles, geese and swans and cranes and herons and egrets!! haha just so i don't have to watch them eat!! I applaud any person on this protocol that has a family that you have to prepare different foods for. that is one hard chore!! it was pure torture to me....maybe i have not been on the protocol long enough yet, to handle it better, still, i refuse to give in and will NOT be less than 100% the entire time they are here!! and anything left over they don't eat will go home with them!! haha

I can't tell yu how much reading this thread has helped me these past 5 days!!! All the support and encouragement and success stories has lifted me up and sustained me through this tough time for me!! thank you!!!

Good morning you all

Today I am off to Bj's Club to pick up hot dogs, burgers, snacks, waters & soda for 225 people. (While I am there I will pick up tons of powerade zero & EAS shakes). Our party is a week from Saturday, so it is going to get really crazy around here starting next week. The only thing I am sweating is the weather.. please.. NO RAIN!

And tonight I am going to the live taping of Americas got talent.

sending you the rain fairies to ward off any rain!! :rain: and 225 people!!!! wow!! what a PAR-TAY!!!! LizR....r we still gonna crash the party??? wouldn't that just be a riot!! have fun at the americas got talent show!!! woot woot!!

Good morning all, I have been trying to upload a new picture and I'm catching heck, I did it with my current avatar, why cannot I do it again arrrugh! This is so frustrating to keep seeing the "file upload failed" message:?:?

maybe you need to re-size the photo a bit??? i was trying once and it was too large a file and when i re-sized it, it uploaded??

Rainbow, My heart goes out to you on this one. Family gatherings can be hard sometimes anyway, but you are absolutely right! Everyone on this thread would notice and support you. You are a strong, courageous, and kind soul and in going through this experience you are becoming even stronger! My feeling is that they noticed (how could they not notice that 48 pounds were missing....) but chose not to call attention to it. Sometimes we need to tell them what we need. But also know that you know it within yourself.

Question for everyone: I wake up early and full of energy on this program. But at night I get so tired I literally fall into bed. Any thoughts on this? Anyone else extremely tired at night?

THANK YOU :hug: JOY :) I am trying to "know" it in my heart!!
Good Question!!! I was getting very tired at night too....but then started making me a half serving of protein drink at night and that helped :)

Have a great time camping! I LOVE to go camping. I like to sleep in my tent, but haven't done it yet this summer. And it's waaaay too hot to do that here in LA or TX right now. Maybe I'll make it up to the mts in Arkansas or maybe when I go to the Adirondacks at the end of the summer. :)

Is this party at your house? And if so, where do you put that many people? No small crowd that's for sure. Have fun at the taping tonight.

That's exactly what my coach said this morning when I asked her.

Congratulations on your 94 pound loss! That's amazing! What an inspiration you are!

Thank you so much!

i LOVE that you have such a great plan and know where you are going with this protocol!! Where are you going on your trips??? I found out that trips for me are difficult haha!!! I seem to do better in my own little surroundings!! I will learn to adjust!!
I'm meeting one of my best friends for a weeks vacation in Charleston, and we are taking a road trip from there. We are going to Charleston, Savannah, Hilton Head and Asheville. We both have lost a lot of weight on IP and we decided last fall that this summer we would celebrate our weight loss by meeting somewhere in the US (she lives in CA and I'm in TX) for a girl's week away. No husbands or kids for one week! We haven't seen each other since last December, so we can't wait to see what each of us looks like and just having a great time together. We are both close to goal, but decided to take the week off and just enjoy ourselves, and that was part of my reason for phasing off for part of the summer. Also my scale is barely moving anymore, so I decided to give my body a break and hopefully the weight loss will resume when I get back on phase one. Also we know that we won't go crazy with eating since we will keep each other in check too. We both like to walk a lot, so hopefully that will help too.

i have yet to meet anyone in my area that has even heard of IP!???
:
Same here. It's like the best kept secret in town. No one here has ever heard of it, but there are three clinics here in Austin. The other day I was at the movies and this mother and son where sitting next to us and eating a TON of food. This was a movie theater that also has a restaurant that brings food to your seats while you watch the movie. The mom and son where both really big, especially the mom, and truthfully I was getting kind of grossed out by the amount of food the waitress kept bringing them. While I was sipping on my bottle water and eating my bar, I so wanted to lean over and tell them about IP.

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WI!

ITA - it's rather odd really. But I think I read that they only market themselves through word of mouth? I hadn't heard of it until I accidentally found it while googling locally. Back in late March, I was contemplating working with a nutritionist to help get me back on track with a weight loss program - and it was totally by accident that I stumbled over the local IP clinic. Who knew? And I really thought I knew about ALL the available diets out there.

Hey there sunshine! I lurk...I know you're trying hard to limit your online time - BUT 7 LBS!!! WOOT WOOT!

Wuv - I can't believe how time flies either! I feel like a new person and it really has been only 6 months. If you would have told me last december that I would feel this good and loosing 70 lbs would be this easy and quick I would have thought you were trying to sell me the Brooklyn Bridge! But I really do think that this forum has inspired me and you play such an amazing role in it all! Thank you!

70 smackers, awesome hey! Someone once did tell me "it will only take a year" and I didn't believe it....(long before IP)....I made a poster "it will only take a year" and eventually threw it out. Wish I still had it! LOL

I like to 'think' that it's a program for a specific personality...I still have people turn their noses up at me when I describe how I did it... Some of those same people are on "U Weight Loss" and doing it...I didn't turn my nose up at them. Whatever it takes to help you get it off...I don't care what you do. But I do want to tell EVERYONE!!!

HOWEVER, I do find that more people watch what I eat now...and I don't remember being aware of that when I was 300 lbs...maybe I just learned to ignore it. But I'm definately more 'watched' by extended family and acquaintances .

JEALOUS!!! I wanna be out at the lake...:?: :)

VIP went through the wringer a few times with my hormones...I did eventually appologize but did say I would only take 75% of the responsibility as he doesn't always help himself! :D

**************

So this past weekend VIP's son looked me straight in the eye and said "you are looking old, since you've lost weight, you're looking REALLY old"...which is interesting considering three weeks before I had to show him pictures of me before because he couldn't remember what I looked like and didn't believe me that I had lost weight (he's 9)...so someone has been discussing me around her son...she's bigger then I ever was, but I'd never say THAT around his little ears. :chin:

I have times like that, I think we all have! Looking back, my chocolate soy puff craziness was actually around then. I had avoided them for months afterwards for the same 'I am weak' reason, but finally got them again this week, and I love them and don't have the same craving/binginess.

Well, I learned a valuable lesson today...always be prepared. My husband and I went to see fireworks at the golf club and left the house around 5:30. I had a late lunch around 2 so didn't give a thought to dinner. Come 9pm I was hungry. I ate a hot dog no bun, best option out there, every other meat option was smothered in BBQ sauce. From now on there will be an IP bar in m purse or I will plan ahead better. Oh well, day 6 rookie mistake, live and learn.

Rainbow - Look at your progress in your pics! you look great. There is no way that people didnt notice your loss at your weekend gathering. I dont know Why they chose not to congratulate you but it is very noticeable. Keep it up pretty lady.

Wuv - less then 20 lbs to GOAL!!!!!!! whoooo hoooooooooo, you must be thrilled!

Dana - yes the party is at my house and I have no idea how they all fit.. but somehow they do. The head count is up to about 243 now ( my DH has got to stop asking everyone he meets to come, lol)

Ishbel - Thanks for the WOOT WOOT ha ha. I am close to goal but I think it may need to be lowered another 10 pounds. I am just not content where I am yet.
It sounds like the Green eyed monster is talking about you.. Look at your pics..... You are beautiful and your a sweetheart too. Its a shame that she has to bring a 9 year old into her inner battle though.

Diana - whooo hooooooooooo you are kicking it

We had a good time at the live show last night. It was very interesting to see the behind the scenes stuff that goes on. I did alot of people watching. I would see bigger people and think, oh.. they need IP. I would see thinner people and think.. oh, I need IP. hahahahaha. I did catch some dudes checking me out though. I am not all that comfortable with this like I was in my 20's. Maybe I will never be again.. I dont know if it is an age thing or a weight thing. anyhow.. I have decided to limit access to the internet once a day in the am with my coffee at least till the summer is over so untill tomorrow, Have a great day everybody.

Cadu,

I think we don't like people looking at us...gawking...so even though we know it is more positive, our minds have not yet caught up with out bodies. We still react to it the same way.

I never like a lot of attention. So I get how you are feeling about being "checked out". Afterwards you can say, wow! Positive attention for a change. But the first reaction can be one of embarrassment.

But, I have to say you look just stunning! Way to go, girl:cool:

You guys are all so awesome :grouphug: thanks for all the wonderful praise yesterday!

The little guy is a truth teller and sometimes doesn't know the fine line between truth and being rude. That said I don't think I look old, but he apparently might think it due to convsersations in his mom's household.

So I used it as an opportunity to say "buddy, remember when we talked about how sometimes telling the truth isn't always the 'nice' thing to say etc etc" I love that he's a truth teller but sometimes he doesn't help himself make friends because he says what's in his head to much without thinking of others feelings (apparently like his mom lol). SO, adapt and overcome, using it as a learning experience was the best response I had at the time lol.

I let him think what he wants to think...20 minutes previous we were picking out sunglasses and he gave me a strange interested look and I said "Do I look good" he said "....well....yah kinda" and then he wanted the same pair I bought (so we bought a pair together)

...so he's just over heard someone talking and she and her family can have their opinions...whatever makes them feel better....:D

I swear I typically have TOM related symptoms two weeks out of every 4...the build up week and the week of. That is not being on IP...being on IP...well those lovely stored hormones have been a pleasure to say goodbye to. :)

good morning sunshine :flow2: happy 4th to you!! i think that aspect of this protocol is one of the hardest for me to deal with...that, and taking all the pills!!! hope you have a beautiful day....we are off to celebrate and so happy to have my grandsons here this year!!,,,,this is the last full day...and i will surely miss all their laughter, but not the pizza rolls!! hahaha i am proud though, not a bite of any of their goodies went into my mouth!! and all week they have had tons of goodies!! but that's what grandmas are for!! tee hee!!

my chocolate soy puff craziness was actually around then. I had avoided them for months afterwards for the same 'I am weak' reason, but finally got them again this week, and I love them and don't have the same craving/binginess.

i LOVE the chocolate soy puffs....i keep them in the freezer!!! i keep an open packet in a container (but i have good restraint) because sometimes you just want that little something...and i will go an have maybe 3-4 puffs. and that is enough to satisfy me...and that one pack will last over a week!! its kinda like having that dinner mint after dinner....or that tiny taste of chocolate before bed. but i wouldn't advise it for someone without control cause those chocolate puffs are deeee-licious!!!

Oh well, day 6 rookie mistake, live and learn.

wooot woot :yay: way to go, staying in control!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rainbow - Look at your progress in your pics! you look great. There is no way that people didnt notice your loss at your weekend gathering. I dont know Why they chose not to congratulate you but it is very noticeable. Keep it up pretty lady.

well thank you so much!!!! i got the idea of doing my pics like yours and its nice to see progression in the stages....my face has changed more than my rear end but eh...whats a girl to do!! haha eventually that backside will have to yield too!!! i hope!! haha

Dana - yes the party is at my house and I have no idea how they all fit.. but somehow they do. The head count is up to about 243 now ( my DH has got to stop asking everyone he meets to come, lol) If interested you can check out some pictures on our website http://60sparty.com/index.html

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when you throw a party...YOU THROW A PAR-TAY!!!!!!!!! now i REALLY WANT TO COME!! haha what a blast!! love the bandstand, did you paint that?? and that GROOVY hippie stand is awesome!! i love it!!! have a lot of fun gf!!! wow!!!

Ishbel--skinny pretty lady!!
Your little pal definitely heard that from an adult. I have been teaching for 23 years. Kids are incredibly honest. HOWEVER, when it comes to age...they do not have a clue. (Not until they get much older.) Most children will use the term"old" to refer to someone who does not play or laugh....I REALLY mean that. If you play, laugh, and like to have a good time around children----you are always in your twenties. If you have children, the smarter ones may tell you that you are 29...possibly 30!
Kids will usually give honest, rather descriptive compliments or insults...same thing as they do not know the difference----most children just say the truth----thus the beauty of working with young children.
I had a child come up to me at and give me a HUGE hug.....he squeezed me as tight as he could, with all the strenth his little 6 year old body could muster. He then said, "Mrs. Amato, you are beautiful. You know your back? Well it is almost not as fat anymore. All those "bubbles" are gone."

Good morning, everyone! Happy 4th of July to all the US IPers. Gee, I'm glad to be home, although I'm already planning another weekend trip. So glad I figured out how to do the travel thing, even though it's an effort to get everything organized...

Well, I learned a valuable lesson today...always be prepared. From now on there will be an IP bar in m purse or I will plan ahead better. Oh well, day 6 rookie mistake, live and learn.

Hey, Sassy, I hear you on this one. I've also been stranded a few times. I try to keep some type of puffs (SW are great) or a bar that won't melt in this heat in my car glove compartment for times like this. Yesterday I went for it while waiting for a friend who I drove to a dr's appt. that took longer than planned. I got HUNGRY.

_____

Chocolate soy puffs? Are they good? I haven't tried them yet, but they sound a little dangerous. Not sure I'm ready. But having portions measured and packaged really helps at this stage of my program. I'm in week three and it's great to know that when I'm finished with the bar (or drink, or snack packet) it's DONE. NO MORE. FINIS. I guess always having "just one more" helped me add the pounds on.

Today I'll go to a BBQ at a friend's house. She's doing chicken and beef, marinated in oo, s & p, garlic, and other spices. Also grilled veggies. I'm going to bring a few veggie skewers. Has anyone ever grilled brussel sprouts? I'm going to try grilling some new ones, like brussel sprouts, portabello mushrooms, eggplant, and zuccini with my red and green peppers. I think it will be yummy and interesting.

Have a great 100% day, everyone!

Sassy, I had this happen just the other night. My son's baseball team went out for a dinner after a game. Luckily, I had a RTD in my purse. I ordered a tall glass of ice(to our my RTD in to) and a tall ice-water and felt wonderful. The nice thing was, later in the evening , I got to have dinner-my way!!!! (Even though there were options at the resaurant, I really just wanted my own food.)
I still do not fully trust myself with the bars. Happy 4th!

Happy 100% July 4th! I am pooped out on the couch after an early morning (and still stinking hot!) walk to the park, then we took the kid to go swimming and BBQ with friends. We left at nap time and I think we all needed the rest!

My friend who had the extreme reaction to my loss (and gave me the 3rd degree on my program), well - I was hoping she would want to join up with me, since I love you IPeeps, but having a real life person to chat with over RTDs would be nice. I don't think she is of the right mindset though, I brought rutabaga fries, and they were asking me about the new veggies, etc. My hubby gave me recipe props, but she just seemed NOT interested in any type of veggies. Oh well, I am sure she is telling her husband how awful it must be to be forced to eat only veggies...little does she know what she is missing out on!

Happy 4th of July to my American friends. It's my birthday too so I'm always pleased to see a nation celebrating with me in style (and with lots of water). It started here as a stormy day but has ended up nice so I'm sitting on my deck enjoying a Crystal Light Appletini as my birthday treat. It does have aspartame so I keep it restricted to only special occasions.

WI tonight and I'm 2.6 down. Excited but also a little nervous because I am now away for the next three weeks (business then two weeks vacation). I'm not worried about staying OP as I have my plans already figured out. However I still like the security of checking in with my coach and a scale each week.mon my way out, I told my coach I would still email my food journal each week just to feel on track. And of course I'll be checking in with the IPeeps every chance I get.

Have a good night everyone!

That is funny and very sweet. I taught grade 1 for many years. I was going up 3 flights of stairs in a school that is over 100 years old. People must have been in great shape in those days because the stairs are very steep. This was several years ago when I weighed about 60 pounds more than now.

The 6 year old with me zoomed up like a mountain goat and was waiting at the top and was concerned that I was slower. With great sincerity he said that it was much harder for me to get up the stairs and asked if Iwas fat. I said well yes but as a person gets older parts of your body don't work as well and one of my knees didn't work as well as his did.

So he said; "So that's the problem! You are old and you are fat!"

I had to laugh to laugh because it was the truth and he was honestly trying to figure out a solution to my problem.

I did a bad thing today. I was so busy in the morning that I didn't take my potassium until late afternoon AND I didn't have my sea salt with lunch like I usually do. Well, around 5, I got light headed and realized my mistake. I did the salt lick and drank a powerade zero, and felt much better. I took my blood pressure when I got dizzy and it was 106/68. No wonder I felt off!

These are such funny anecdotes! My younger brother has special needs, he is forever innocent and yes - brutally honest. I can't tell you how many times we've had those "Petey Moments" where he just tells people the truth and nothing but the truth. One of my favorites - after seeing his Special Olympics coach 10 years later: "Coach Smith - last time I saw you, you were young, thin, and you had hair....What Happened?"

I want to stay 100% ... so I'm glad I found you guys. Does anyone have any suggestions for drinks other than water ... I love Crystal Light, but it has aspertame and is not allowed.

I drink plenty of water, LOVE iced tea ... but restricted, so I am looking for other alternatives.

You can still have iced tea, but sweetened with Splenda or Stevia - you can brew decaf tea as well. You should not have it in lieu of water though if it's caffeinated, make sure to drink extra water to compensate for the diuretic effect that too much caffeine can have (just like coffee). As for other water flavorings - Mio is an option many people use, and there are some Crystal Light flavors that do not have aspartame (so I've read on here) - but ALWAYS check the label!

Thank you for sharing that story. You made me laugh out loud! You wrote it so well, I could just invision the whole situation!!!! Yes, they are honest with their descriptions, and usually their feelings. I love that, but, they do exhaust me!!!I would not change my job for anything....ask me again in August!!!!!
I had one parent come in, on the last day of school, with a huge tomato plant for me. She was apologetic, she said that her daughter said that the only thing I like is vegetables. So she insisted on getting me my own plant! Then she told me that her daughter keeps telling her to "get fit" and "shrink" like Mrs. Amato.......it was a great laugh! I have two tomatoes right now, almost ripe. I am going to send her a picture of her "gift"

I use a drink mix called Stevita. I love the lime flavor, but they have others like strawberry and cherry. It is made with stevia, so IMHO it is the best option for a drink mix. It's available at www.discoverstevia.com. My clinic stocks it, so I have not ordered from this site.

I think it is $5 a box of 10 packs and they say to mix it with .5 ltr (16oz) or water. I usually mix it with 24 oz of water. That works out to about .50 per bottle, so not too bad for price.

Isn't it crazy that people will pick out a reason they couldn't do a diet and act like it is us that are crazy. Veggies are the food we all should be eating and they are delicious. The real crazy here is that your friend can look at your amazing transformation and say that it is not worth a mouthful of veggies. I guess we all have been there, looking for reasons we can't diet, I am just thankful we are not there anymore!

I just got back from a 10 day vacation and lost 5 pounds! I know what you mean about not having the security of your routine but you can do this and have a great time!

I drink plenty of water, LOVE iced tea ... but restricted, so I am looking for other alternatives.!
I don't think decaf ice tea is restricted. At least I hope not because I drink quite a bit of it!!

I made it!!!! I had my mind set on reaching my 40lb loss by the 4th of July.
Guess what....I made it!!!!! I am in shock, awe, just absolutely amazed. I just love IP and my IP friends. 40.2 lbs in 11 weeks......I just cannot believe it!!!:genie:

First, I love the picture of you, for some reason it always makes me smile because you look so happy in it! Secondly, congrats! Bye bye forty pounds!

So I just got back from one vacation and will leave on a 6 day river trip next week! The first vacation was easy but the river trip provides all sorts of challenges.
When you go down the river you have to bring everything you are going to eat with you, packed into coolers. This is challenging because the veggies don't really keep very well and everything must fit. I think I can bring fresh veggies for the first few days and then put turnips, and rutabegas (sp?) in for the end of the trip. It will be interesting but I intend to stay 100% OP!
I am really looking forward to this trip because I have never been down the Middlefork of the Salmon River before. It goes through the Frank Church Wilderness area and has lots of great rapids! We have done the Main Salmon River several times but the Middlefork is suppose to be way more thrilling! Can't wait!

Good morning, everyone! Hope you had a great day yesterday!

The BBQ was fun. I brought skewered veggies: brussel sprouts, portobellos, red and grn peppers, eggplant. Drizzled them with evoo and smothered them with s & p, garlic powder, and thyme. They were yummy, although the eggplant could have had more time on the grill.

The other attendees did not overload their plates with veggies. Instead they took potato salad, etc, but I really enjoyed the veggies and brought a big bag home of leftovers. Little do they realize...

Good morning you all
Our party is a week from Saturday, so it is going to get really crazy around here starting next week. .

Cadu, I looked at the pictures from your previous 60s party. Wow! Sounds like fun! I remember those times! Wish I could be there too!:cool::dancer:

Kids will usually give honest, rather descriptive compliments or insults...same thing as they do not know the difference----most children just say the truth----thus the beauty of working with young children... All those "bubbles" are gone."

I love the "bubbles" story, NewPath! I also taught elementary age children (music) for many years and loved it. Now I teach the big ones how to teach the little ones! Sometimes they're just like little ones, too!

On a silly note, don't you think that we are all fighting our individual battles for freedom...like freedom from obesity and ill health.....freedom to be healthy.

You are so right! I am doing this for my freedom to be healthy and to choose to do whatever I want to do - skydive, scuba dive, run marathons, horseback ride, perform confidently, not get winded going upstairs, feel great in a bathing suit, get up and down from the floor and run quickly with my grandchildren, even cross my legs all ladylike! :trampo:

I'm a child of the 60's and 70's, followed the Grateful Dead, born and raised in San Francisco, so I spent a fair amount of time in Haight Ashbury....

Ahh, me, too, Dana, although I was on the East Coast in NYC most of the time. Spent a little time in Venice, CA.

I made it!!!! I had my mind set on reaching my 40lb loss by the 4th of July. Guess what....I made it!!!!! :

Congrats! What an accomplishment! :cheer3:

So true, Salmongirl! I had that experience yesterday. And - it's really not hard to pass on the off-program stuff because I know I'm doing this 100%. I just remember how awful it felt with the extra pounds, smile to myself, and take another sip of water. Yes, we've all been there and we can't make anyone WANT to do this. It has to come from within them.

Have a great OP day, everyone!

As long as it's decaf you can drink all day long and it counts toward your water. Your upcoming trip sounds like so much fun and I'm sure you can make it work with the food. It will be challenging, but I bet you will come back with a great weight loss just like your last vacation. Have fun!

NYC (my favorite place on earth) and Venice Beach? I bet you have some great memories too. Fun fun places!

Well back from WI and no pounds lost or gained which is a very excellent thing since I have basically phased off for a month and a half till I'm back from all of my trips mid August. More good news is I've gained more muscle and lost more body fat. My coach is always searching with me what makes that happen when it does, because it's not always consistent. I told her this week I started to bump up the amount of weights I lift. Maybe that helped more than I thought it would. My husband has been going to the gym with me more often now, and we tend to get a little competitive with each other. If I lift 70 pounds, then he needs to lift 80 pounds. Kind of silly, but maybe it's also pushing me a little harder too.

My coach gave me a sample of a new product, a crispy type of cereal bar and it kind of looks like a rice crispy treat (can't remember the name). Of course it's restrictive. It wasn't too bad, kind of sweet and was pretty tasty with a big cup of green tea.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I felt so good today, so I made a point of stopping and donating blood. When I got home my daughter(nurse) informed me that your body burns 600+ calories after you donate!!!! So I am going to need to add some protein. I ate an awesome omelet before I went. I drank 3 waters while donating and took fruit snacks for my kids on the way out : )

Hi everyone,

I see lots of great WI and milestones, congrats to all of you :)

Super excited for tomorrow, its my work "field day" and i get to go on a nice 3-hour cruise and the weather is supposed to be perfect! Its a BBQ for lunch so going to have burgers without the bun and i think for dinner its steak/chicken/fish on the BBQ which is ok and i'll have a baked potato or some type of carb that is plain.

AND Saturday is my first cheat day, super excited about that too :)

AND last week-end was my last babysitting week-end as i'm taking the summer off (still have 4 kids at home but was babysitting a 4-year old from friday 6pm til sunday 5pm every week-end to pay for IP).

Looking forward to a nice relaxing week-end! Gonna hang at the pool and just take it easy!

Have a great day everyone!

Whew! Another crazy week has just wrapped up. WI today was much better, down 6# for the week YAY.

Between my wife, my coach and myself we have also decided to raise my goal weight by 10# so now im even closer another YAY!!!

I am starting P3 today to mini phase off for my holiday, where I will not be 100%, but will stay close still doing the P3 snack nightly. When i return i will do P1 until i hit goal then phase off properly.

Feels great being this close to goal, and going on a holiday and not worrying about gaining a gazillion pounds while im there lol.

Congrats on all the other WIs today. What a group we have here!

Thanks so much Mom!! We will have a good time, but I sure cant make any promises about being good haha!

I will re-assess the goal weight when we get back, but hate to say it, but it seems like it will be too low for me. I will know better once I get back from the holiday.

I think he should stop at 175...although I should be happy he's willing to try to get 4 cups of veggies down and keep his slurpees to a Saturday (fun day).

Thanks Ishbel...I know how he feels lol...I too was 165 and maintained that for a long time (when I was 18-26) I guess we sometime forget that we have aged a bit LOL (im 40 now). I think 165 might be too light for me now, so I will see how I feel at 175 and go from there. I actually had a girl I have known for years tell me this week Im looking 'wimpy' haha...Ive been a 'big' guy for a long time. Hard to throw your weight around at 180 compared to 230...

I guess the beauty of this plan is that if I dont like it at 175 I know how to fix it...I love that!

He's just like you, your size and is currently just below your ticker starting weight (he's brown eyed and brown haired so technically I could say he kinda looks like you too (in an online world), but you're probably more handy then he is!) :)

He's just got to much on the go right now (he's off to Holland in a few days) but he has mentioned a few times he's gonna do it when we're back from Scotland (last night he said it again)...perfect timing as I may need a few days of Phase 1 myself ;)

Yes that's right, he gets to go across the pond TWICE this summer!! :dizzy:

I was serious I was going to show him your posts! :D

you're not looking whimpy - she's just having trouble merging what you were to what you are now...:)

Feel free to show him my posts, thats ok with me. Heck if ya want, tell him to email me, and I can tell him from a guys perspective how easy it has been. I know he has heard your story, but as a guy, we always think a girl can do something like this easier than we can. AND....Im pretty sure I know exactly where his mind is at...its easy and comfortable to be our size haha short and stout, because up here you dont have to look far to find a ton of people that are way bigger, so in the back of your mind you know you are overweight, but its not really that bad...haha ok at least that is what I thought...I seriously had a hard time convincing myself that I was heavy enough that I should do something about it. Its like height...Ive always wanted to be taller but know thats not gonna happen, and with weight, it happened so slowly over a number of years when I looked in the mirror I didnt see the fat guy looking back, I always saw the guy that was 165 for many years, but still couldnt figure out why I kept needing bigger clothes...

Today looking at pics from a couple months ago, Im disgusted I let myself get to where I was, yet when I was there, I was totally comfortable with it. For me, the mental challenge was far harder than the diet...Today, Im so happy I made the decision, and even happier that I did it 100% and it worked! Happy, Happy, Happy....:carrot:

You are amazing Longhorn! You are so right - it is comfy living in denial in that fat suit as I call it. It's warm and a comfort zone there too!! But once we get our heads wrapped around it NOT being ok - not being a comfort zone but a high risk for death zone, it's easy to stay focused. I feel blessed I have found IP. It is saving my life. I am saving my life.

I have been in a funk today. Kinda TOM again, kinda crabby and b****y, just not feeling energy or myself. So I went and cleaned out my closet!!! I have a HUGE heap of clothes that are too big!!! I had 4 pairs of size 18 pants that fit at Christmas and were the smallest pants I had ever owned in my adult life...I had these stashed downstairs, so off I went looking for them! I found them, they slid right on and fit beautiful! So here I am, wearing these jeans that make my arse look hot, sweating to death with the A/C cranked on, waiting for DH to come home and see them! Next size - I can't wait!!! So happy!

Mom, dont make me come over and give you a pep talk LOL...Im not amazing at all...I could not have dont this diet without the help and support of people like yourself that even though we dont know each other, everyone seems to care and take the time to answer the stupid questions we all seem to have. I have struggled HUGE, and I know you have had some hard days as well, but heck, as long as we can all keep each other on the straight and narrow, it will work out fantastic. Its those small victories that kept me going...finally fit into the clothes that I was wearing daily, to getting back into jeans that I had outgrown, to finally buying a whole new size, but I still had so many days where I had to dig deep to find the willpower to carry on. I did well, only because I stayed 100% I truly beleive that is the key. I have done better so far than the buddy that got me interested, but he has a cheat at least every other week, from pizza to beer to going to a Nascar race and drinking ALL WEEKEND, to spaghetti, and the list goes on and on...

This site, you people, and my desire to get back to where I knew I should be...it took all of that...so thanks to everybody! Gonna take a small break for the vacay, then right back to work to finish this up...have to see it to the end properly...

Hello Everybody!

I'm relatively new to IP and completely new to online forums! Started IP last month and tomorrow is my fourth WI... so far Im down 14 pounds! my main motivation is other people saying how great I look, yet I cant see it AT ALL! Did anyone else have this problem?:(

Meadow! Love, love, loving the pics!

It's been a blah day for me, still on a sleep hangover from yesterday's sun drain & afternoon coffee that kept me too buzzed to sleep. Plus tom is knocking, which usually brings a touch of insomnia. Not cool! I am ready for my sleep reboot tonight. Drinking my tea and holding off on polishing off the last chocolate soy puff package, those damn things got in my head again! Need to 'do the math' next time and make sure I avoid them around hormone time!

I recommend this to EVERYONE....IF you have NOT taken a photo of yourself....DO SO NOW and in a month take another one so that you can see the difference. We look at ourselves everyday in the mirror so we won't see it but take pics and YOU WILL SEE THE DIFFERENCE.......I PROMISE......ask anyone here, they will confess to it!

Hey everyone, I had an 11 hour day today so I didn't have time to post. Here it is 9:45 and I am JUST settling down...WHEW long day! I went to work at 7:45am and didn't get off until 6:45pm....Seems like I will have that once a week, but I am OK with that. The people that came in today said they didn't do as bad as they thought because they thought about me and how I would have spent my day. Its a great feeling to know that they didn't cheat cuz they knew I wouldn't do it!....amazing!

Vegas is crazy , have been there way too many times, but that is a long and sorted story. But, also went there with a bunch of girlfriends when we all turned 50. Had lots of fun.

Since I've been to Vegas way too many times, I've stayed at many of the hotels. The nicest in my opinion is the Belligo. Make sure you get tickets to at least one Cirque du Soleil show.

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you all have a great OP Day! :)

I'm off to visit friends for the weekend! Packed my foodstuff last night.

Rainbow, I made sauteed chicken strips with red pepper strips and mushrooms and put it over the "rice." Yum. Added a little soy sauce to my regular garlic, s & p and evoo to give it a little glaze.

OK, I just want to say that I am honored to be among you all. I think it's pretty amazing to take charge of our lives and change something we've been wanting to change for so long. Taking committed action is so energizing and life-affirming. It's wonderful that we found this tool, but it's even more wonderful that we are using it. We are actually transforming ourselves! Wow! Congrats to you all! :cheer3:

Have a great day!

This is not really the appropriate thread to ask a question about cheating...try the Daily Chat for that. BUT if you are looking for options of alternate drinks, I would just go for seltzer with lime.

Are you truly committed to IP? There is always going to be an excuse - it's summer, it's my birthday, it's my friend's birthday, it's Sunday, it's the holidays...the list continues forever. This thread was created to support people who are committed to being 100% On Program - there are folks who have been doing Phase 1 through summers, vacations, cruises, Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas, and many parties and birthdays. You just have to figure out if you are stronger than the excuse - you can go out with friends and enjoy the company, it should be about having fun with friends not about drinks. It will still be there when you reach goal and are in Phase 4.

WHOO-HOO!! Just back from WI#18 and down -2lb ... I was hoping for at least 1lb down since I've been itching to break into the -60+lb loss club!

Very happy that I maintained my lean mass, so this was 100% fat I lost! I was curious how that would shake out after last weeks incredulous lean mass gain, so VERY happy that I maintained that! You can see in previous weeks where I lost the same amount of pounds, I didn't lose as much BF%.

I think I've finally reached a good 'tipping point'. I was lifting pretty intensely until Day 1 of IP, then stopped for 8 weeks cold, then picked it up but at a MUCH lighter pace - finally started bumping it up.

I figured that my 'reserve muscle' from lifting before IP wouldn't be maintained - but I had consistently lost mostly fat the whole time. So hoping I've struck a nice balance - especially as I am getting closer to goal...wow, less than 10lb....really? Where has the time gone....

Does anyone have any suggestions for drinks other than water ... I love Crystal Light, but it has aspertame and is not allowed. I drink plenty of water, LOVE iced tea ... but restricted, so I am looking for other alternatives.

pyyoung - hope you see this - I use 4C brand mixes - the ones in little tubs, not the bigger canisters. 4C uses Splenda to sweeten. I also drink iced tea all year long. I come in from shoveling snow and have iced tea. I am a weird one. :D

Everyone is doing so well. Good job everyone!!! I have been drinking fluids like a mad woman due to the heat/humidity and seem to be stuck this week. I know that by next week all the water will work itself out of my system and I will be back in business. If I could tinkle standing up, I could help water the back lawn like someone I live with who shall remain nameless.

I know I have been MIA for a week. Life threw DH & me a wild curve ball at the end of June and we have been trying to work out some stuff. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?!? We are on the road in Massachusetts for the weekend and just want to get back to having FUN!!! Sometimes I don't like being an adult.

was playing around with new ways to eat IP ... thought I would try a zucchini bread using what I have here. I used 1 small zucchini cut up and dropped in bullet, 1 vanilla drink IP, 2 oz water, 1/8 tsp baking powder, 1/8 tsp pumpkin pie spices, 2 egg whites ... and baked at 350 for 40 min. My hope was to make a "bread" but since I mixed everything in the bullet, I ended up with a green zucchini souffle. Not the bread I was hoping for, but it has a souffle texture and tasted good!

I just can't get the whole making pancakes/tortillias right ... the bubble up in the pan like pancakes do, but never seem to "firm up." The recipe I was given was 1 IP packed, 2 egg whites, apx 2 oz water, 1/8 tsp baking powder ... anyone else have luck with this??? Shakes get a bit boring as I miss chewing my food - lol

Thanks!

I'm sure that you didn't mean to upset or offend anybody and you just didn't realize that it would be better to post your question in a different thread. There are many of us that have been 100% committed for many months without a single cheat and, speaking for myself only, don't feel very bothered by a post in the incorrect thread. In the grand scheme of things, it just doesn't seem that important and I'm sure that it wasn't intended as malicious in any way. There are Soooooo many people out there who have amazing stories and tips to share. Start to follow a few of those, those who you really would like to aspire to. Then, decide which thread you would like to be a part of. I do not think that anyone is trying to tell you where you should go. Discover where it is you want to be....and, fly with it!!!!!!!! IP is an amazing journey. I know that, at your age, there are particular challenges, but, you can do this!!!!!!
Hugs,
Julie

I forgive you:). Some people need to chill out sometimes. Welcome and I would not worry about it some people need more structure than others. I have been a 100 percent since January and that did not bother me. Have a great weekend :)

I know I have been MIA for a week. Life threw DH & me a wild curve ball at the end of June and we have been trying to work out some stuff. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?!? We are on the road in Massachusetts for the weekend and just want to get back to having FUN!!! Sometimes I don't like being an adult

I am halfway through my second week and feeling great! I can't keep myself from weighing everyday and as of this morning I have lost 13.5lbs total. Can't wait for my official weigh in on Tuesday when my couch will also measure me and do my body composition. I have a long journey ahead of me but I know staying 100% OP will make it fly by. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

To Lopes89...was not offended by your post and question. Was however, somewhat taken aback by how some replied to you. Using all capital letters in a virtual environment is considered the same as shouting or yelling at people--it's called netiquette.

Hey Lopes, don't sweat it. We all make mistakes. And, for the record, I wish I would've found IP when I was 23! You have a great opportunity here! You alone must make the decision, though.

I am always so touched by the kindness in the responses by everyone on this thread. This is such a strong and supportive group. Let's continue to be kind to each other. Funny thing about the written word...it's like the spoken word. We often say (or write) things on impulse and later regret them. I know I put my foot in my mouth sometimes (and obviously put a lot more in my mouth...) so let's just move on.

Have a great day, everyone!

You didn't upset me, the program is written to be followed and when cheats happen you don't have the success or the results as you should then you get discouraged. That is why we stay 100%, we want the results as they should be.

For the record I messaged Lopes and apologized for my response and encouraged her NOT to cheat and told her she was welcome here or anywhere for that matter. I told as a leader I should not have responded to her that way and that I was sorry.

Hey all. It's going to be a BEAUTIFUL weekend here in washington. Very excited about all the sun we are about to get!! I had my WI yesterday. Down 3!! I'm pretty happy about that.... I've also had a few NSV. On the 4th. Had to walk up this huge hill. I didn't even get winded.... And then was bored at lunch. so I went shoppping.... Tried on a size 10... I've NEVER been that size before. So that was definitely nice to see. That totally made my day!!!

Thank you so much! I have been so lucky to not have any hunger/headaches since I started. I hope it stays that way because it sure does make it easier to stay OP. I have been so surprised by how easy this is to stick to because I was seriously addicted to carbs/sweets. So much that I almost didn't try this thinking I could never stick to it. I told myself what could a week hurt and I am loving it. So happy I took a chance. I have been to the movies twice since I started and have been able to pass up popcorn both times. Big accomplishment for me! I am going to stay away from big gatherings with friends for a little while longer because I am usually tempted when others are drinking/eating. My big test will be August 15th when my husband and I go to the beach with several other couples but my hopes are to have lost so many lbs that I won't want to partake in any of the drinking. We will see!

Bring some MIO with you to add to your water so that you don't feel left out when you are drinking plain water. Also crystal light has the different flavors appletini, Mojoto and margarita that you could use so it looks like you are having a real drink but staying OP. No one would need to know the difference.

Good strategies, Pacia. This is the time to take care of yourself, no matter what. I do the same things...stay away from gatherings, hang around the house, walk my dog, just sort of chill. I know I will be back out there again, since I teach at a university...I will have to be social again!
But for now, I am just taking care of myself, and staying totally focused.
Heck, it takes focus to get all that water down, and stick close to the bathroom!

You'll have lost enough that you will stay strong to lose even more! At one some point you become so successful that you just keep powering through. During the tough moments I would think about how long I was unhappy about my weight...getting through one party was nothing compared to that.

I was unhappy for 61% of my life, phase 1 was 2% of my life...and not all of it was hard, so factor in the few hours for a party and there you have it. :)

You're doing so well. I've always weighed myself everyday because I could handle all of the ups and downs, so as long as you are okay with that then don't worry about it. If at any time it starts to bug you or you starting weighing more than first thing in the morning, in your birthday suit before breakfast - then you could put the scale away. Always stay 100% and you will be amazed at how fast the weight drops and the months fly bye. :)

Happy 100% OP day everyone! Ran to the farmers market and got some gorgeous rainbow tomatoes, kale, rhubarb, and lettuce. I sure am going to miss the rhubarb I am afraid it is just about done for the year. Did see some Zucchini starting to make its appearance at the market which is good that means soon we will be having zucchini pizza. :)

I went a little overboard with my restricteds yesteday. I am out of ketosis. Tom is here for the weekend...not sure if that is why. However, I went to the gym today and did a slow 30 minutes on the ellipitcal. OMG, my once strong legs, were like jello. I was a bit surprised. (My legs do LOOK amazing though.) I would love some input. LizRR, I am sure you can coach me here.
When I left the gym my legs were like jiggling and wiggling......weak!

I've found the best way to avoid that happening to me is to make sure I have some protein before and right after I work out.

Got nothing but what Dana said (I do the same packet 'sandwich' around workouts). You may just be rebuilding muscle, nothing but yourself to use as an experiment!

Delgan, Ishbel and DanafromAustin,

Thank you for the kind words and advise! Your losses along with many others on this thread have given me such inspiration! I was so excited when I weighed this morning and lost another 1 lb for a weight of 318. For the past year I have been doing Jenny Craig and have actually lost 30 lbs but the last 10 I just kept gaining and losing because I was always so hungry and I would cheat every week. The lowest I got on JC was 319 and today I have finally broken through that number! WooHoo! Hope everyone has a great 100% OP Sunday!

Good morning friends,
I hope that every one is cool and hydrated. It is still rather warm here in CT, but I may try to sneak out for a little sunbathing later this afternoon, possibly take the kayak out....hmmmmmm.
Last night, about four hours after my stint with the elliptical, I got this whirlwind of energy. I cleaned and organized until about 2 AM. I am not sure whether it was from the exersize or hormones. I have not had a whole lot of ambition to clean in a while. I threw a lot of stuff out....great feeling!
Also, NSV, I went for a mani-pedi the other day. Woot, Woot, I am starting to take REALLY good care of M E!!!!! I think that we all need to do that. I know that a lot of my weight "issues" are a direct result of taking care of EVERYONE in the world----except me. I am working on that....big time. I have said "N-O" to more people, since I started IP, than I think I have in the past 10 years. No explanations, no beating around the bush, no feeling guilty, just NO!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay one more thing, I went shopping for my WF 1000 Island dressing, I found only the low calorie one. Yes, I guess WF makes a 1000 Island dressing that is low calorie but laden with FAT. Beware!!!
Have a great day IPeeps!!!!
I am still so excited about Lisa's Old Navy skinny sundress.
When I try stuff on I actually talk to myself, out loud, I just can't keep the joy in! Lisa, were people looking at you when you came out of the fitting room? That has happened to me...more than once, ha!

Congrats! It sure is a lot more fun to shop in the regular clothes department isn't it.

You're welcome! I did Jenny Craig many years ago, and while I did lose around 40 pounds, I was starving the entire time. Then of course like all other high carb diets, I fell off of the wagon and gained it all back plus a lot more over the years. Thank goodness for low carb diets. Besides being the healthiest way to go, you are also not that hungry. Congrats on breaking through another number. You have got this way of eating (hate calling this a diet as it's so much more than that), and I know you will succeed.

Looks like a rainy hot day here in Austin today. I'm off to the gym in a bit and maybe a movie later on. Have good Sunday everyone.

Good morning, everyone! Have a wonderful Sunday! I'm going to relax today and be happy to be home. I spent the past 2 days at a friend's house, which was fun, but it's always harder not eating at home. I feel like I must stick to my eating timetable more strictly now. I can't skip meals and "make up for it" and that's gets hard when out with friends and involved in activities.

Last night I went to a 5 PM movie, ate my snack in the theater (yummy SW puffs) and then drove home to cook dinner. The drive home was one hour, so I didn't get home until 8:30 PM. I cooked and was really, really hungry for it. I had a few green pepper strips left to snack on in the car, so that helped, but I really felt off kilter because of the time situation. I know I'll get the knack of it one of these days. :dizzy:

Have a great OP day, everyone!

Well today was a HUGE NVS FOR ME.....I went shopping, went to Avenue and fit in a 14-16 shirt, size 18 capri's, they fit but a 16 was too small. THEN went to Old navy and found a size....ready....wait for it....wait for it....LARGE!!!!!!sundress and IT FIT!!!....I said OMG in the dressing room and the older lady at the check in counter said are you ok? I said OH YEA I AM FINE....WONDERFUL...and couldn't stop giggling....oh what a feeling!!!

This is amazing! :carrot: Congratulations!

Congrats, Pacia! It's so exciting to be on this program that works so well.

I'm nearing the end of my 4th week and feeling really good. It feels like there are so many choices for foods. I'm enjoying the different IP foods and also the dinners can be so varied, especially with all of the recipes on this forum.

Have a great day!

Hey, I am alive and maintaining...it has been crazy with finishing up the move, new job and planning a 6 day wilderness river trip...BUT I have gotten soooo many compliments this weekend during the 4th of July events, I felt like a movie star. I am living a bit off the grid right now, so Iwill check in when I can. Great to see everyone continuing to lose.

Hi everyone. Just came back last night after spending a few days at my brothers for a family get together and stayed 100% OP. I took lots of veggies and packets and drank my water.

On the way home I stopped at at bridal shop to try on a few dresses for my sons wedding in September. I told the sales lady I didn't want to buy yet as I plan to lose more weight and she gave me that look like, yea everyone says that. She doesn't know the diet I'm on and that I will! I will have to buy a dress off the rack because I don't want to order one now and have to alter it way too much.

Lovely 100% OP ladies...I need some suggestions. I know I am not the only oone facing this and I am struggling with how best to tackle this issue. I have always had some unhealthy body image problems. My question is how do you bring your vision of your body in line with reality? Is it just simply a matter of focusing on shutting off the negative self talk and using a healthy affirmation? That is all I am coming up with at the moment.

To give you an example when I was 19 (pre pregnancy) I thought I was fat and that my boobs were huge. Needless to say the many past years have helped me realize that I was way off base on both counts. Having said that here is my observation of my current self. In April I was going through my clothes in my closet and looking at some size 12 jeans telling my friend K that I couldn't believe my butt used to be that small. Now I am wearing those very same jeans and looking in the mirror and all I see is lumpy bumpy. I need to get myself to the point where I can look in the mirror and celebrate that my butt really is that small and quit being so harsh. I am just not sure how to get there.

When I look in the mirror I see a smaller me but still think I am bigger, THEN I go and try on clothes and I am like there is no way I will fit in that. I try them on and THEY FIT, I still see a bigger me but I am getting better at seeing the smaller me. When I look in the mirror I mostly see my top half then when I see a full length mirror I look at it and say WOW you really are small now. We all have to learn how to see our new bodies, we are all our worst critics, I have always accepted me as I was, so now in this body I have am enjoying it and wearing it with PRIDE. Its a whole new outlook on life that is for sure.

Meadow Wheeler, This is a tuffy! I know that I am smaller, I know that I am wearing smaller sizes, I know that I have worked hard, but when I get compliments, I am like, "Really"? Last night I was walking my pooch and a gentleman stopped me and said that he did not recognize me. He said that he was in shock that someone could lose 40 lbs and that I look completely different. I just can't believe that I am 40 lbs different. I don't think that I feel fat, I just havent accepted, or believed that I am getting skinny. When I wake up every morning....I am happy, I remember that I have lost weight. It seems surreal. I do think that it is something we all have to work on! I do believe that pictures help tremendously.
PS You are beautiful. (In case you did not know!!!)

Hi all, looking in the mirror and seeing a smaller me is tough for me as well, I don't see it yet, I see the turkey neck starting and I see all the jiggly parts. I feel it in my clothes though and I see it in photos. When I look at my profile and see the profile pic and then the one in my signature, I can see a difference.

Wuv,Newpath and Shathorn,

Thank you all for your candid responses.

I am going to get a copy of a picture that I absolutely hate that was taken in the spring of 2011. I was helping with a United Way Day of Caring for work. We were out staining a fence for Missoula Aging Services. When I saw the pictures I was ashamed and shocked by how much extra weight I was carrying and how my face looked like a pug face. Oh I knew I wasn't where I wanted to be. I also knew I was exercising and eating healthy and the weight just wouldn't come off. I was miserable and frustrated. That is when I started really self examining all that was going wrong with me and came to the realization that I had a thyroid problem that was working against me and had been for years. I have now had my thyroid issue under control for almost a year and am happy to be releasing the associated weight. I just know there are some long standing things that I need to work on to complete my journey. So...I am going to take that hated picture and post it on my bathroom mirror along with current pictures of myself.

Ugh... more talk of cheating over on the daily chat board. Frustrates me because some think they can win the game by slipping in cheats here and there. It's sad because those are the ones that won't make it to the end and be successful. Oh well.

I love hearing about new size stories. I was still scared to try Old Navy because i've heard from a friend that their clothes fit small but now you've inspired me to try it.

Are there any golfers out there? I need advise on the exercise level. I golf every week in a ladies league, 9 holes and with a cart but it is the type of course where there is still a fair amount of walking. We start at 6pm after work and then there is a dinner when done around 8:30-9. I have been having a Blueberry Pom drink during the game for a few extra calories. My coach and I picked that because it can also be considered a free drink so if I didn't exercise enough to warrant an extra packet, it would still be ok. Yesterday I went out for 18 holes of golf, 5 hours of play. I had my blueberry pudding shake before I left, then on the course had the Blueberry Pom drink, 2 cups raw veggies and a RTD Mango drink. It was hot so I drank tons of water and powerade zero then on the way home my stomach was growling so I ate my BBQ Ridges. I had dinner by 6:30, turkey taco salad with veggies. At 9:30 I was preparing to eat my rhubarb as a snack but was so hungry again, I also had another packet of vanilla pudding. So does this sound reasonable? I don't feel like golf is overly-exerting so I thought the blueberry Pom drink would be enough but then I was hungry in the evening which is very unusual for me? I'm going to let my coach know about this too but I'm not seeing her for another few weeks because of work and vacation travel.

Meadow (and fellow Montanan!),
I don't think our minds have time to catch up to our body changes. We are used to seeing and feeling about oursevles in a certain way, and it is really hard for the mind to adjust.

So I say practice. Put on those smaller size 12 pants and instead of saying "Lumpy Bumpy", say something like. "you fit into these pants". You are getting smaller, or other things that are affirming. Tell yourself you look great, and look yourself in the eyes when you say it.

Practice. Fake it till you make it. Pretty soon your mind will start to see yourself in a different way.

I was all set to type my reply, but then I saw Lisa's reply and it was EXACTLY what I was going to say. I think it just really boils down to time. Time to get use to our new bodies, and I think our minds will eventually see us as we look now, and not how we use to look.

So nice to come and read up on everyone's success'. I haven't been checking in much lately as the nice weather has the backyard calling me during any free time...

I have lost a little over 60 pounds and I am about 30 pounds from what I had originally set as my goal weight. I am shopping in the regular clothes section and actually feel pretty good when I get dressed. This of course equals temptation to stray from the program. So glad you ladies (and gents) are hear to remind me to stay on track.

I have promised myself to come back regularly for my daily dose of 3FC - 100% friends encouragement.

Thanks for being there :)

 Don't be bummed out...you know that there are many things including late in the day and TOM that can cause it to fluctuate hugely during the course of a day let alone a few days. Heck I can drink a water bottle go pee and be up 4 lbs just from the water I drank 30 minutes before.

There are three factors here that aren't giving you an accurate picture of what is going on here:
1. It's not first thing in the morning.
2. You aren't wearing your birthday suit (well at least I hope you weren't)
3. You have food in your tummy
4. It's TOM
5. That's not your scale from home

I lied, that's 5 things, not 3 .;)
You may have gained a temporary one or two pounds because of TOM, but not 5. Always keep your eye on the goal even when little bumps in the road happen.
