It's midnight, and I'm awake. We just watched Great Expectations on PBS. It's great--watch it.

Buttermilk pie is delicious. It's hard to describe the taste, but it's not buttermilk tasting. It's creamy, has sugar, corn meal, vanilla, eggs and mine has lemon in it also. The crust I make has cinnamon in it too.

Sounds good Rhonda.

A new week. It's sunny here but only in the 30's. I am down into the 161's, so I think I lost almost 2 lbs this week. I need to write this down. That .6 gain last week has me confused. As long as the scale is moving down, I'm happy.

I am getting my hair trimmed today. I will be so happy when they get this floor done. My house is a mess. We had to clear out the room for the installer, so I have chairs, tables, etc, in other rooms.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Vickie, thinking of you today. Hope it goes well.

Good luck with the mess, Pam. I can't even bear the idea of getting the carpets cleaned because I don't know where to put the furniture!

Thanks, Chicks! I'm on my way. Missing my coffee and water more than the food at the moment. How ironic. You Chicks have been way more supportive than my family so I just wanted to say how much I appreciate it!

Vickie, :hugs: Let us know when you can.

Pam, :woohoo: on being in the 161's.

Rhonda, your pie sounds yummy.

WI is tomorrow AM. I'm taking our older grand and my gf to see Hunger Games in a few minutes. Sure hope the movie police doesn't look in my purse. I have it loaded with grapes, bananas, a Fiber One bar, and Crystal Lite Lemonade.

Ya'll have a good afternoon.

I hope you enjoyed the movie, Sandra.

I went to tap practice, took a nap, went to the trainer, shopped, made dinner, went to a meeting (taking snacks that I prepared), came home, and I am worn out!!! The poor puppy isn't going to get her walk, and I hope she forgives me.

Tomorrow is busy too, but I don't think there is anything planned for the evening.

I'm not being as disciplined as I need/want to be with food these past few days. I'll get better.

Good morning everyone. Tap practice done and we are not doing as well as we normally do. One person has been out with a serious illness, others have been and are traveling. Everyone loves dancing, but other things have some priority as they age also.

Off to a good start today with food and now DH wants to go out for a hamburger. I might go and just have 1/2 of one. I can do that.

Rhonda, my eating's not been as good as usual the last few days either. Yesterday we had (I made it!) Ultimate Cheeseburger Casserole. Nuff said.

However, I did keep up with my points and I lost 0.8 lbs this morning at WI.

It sounds like planned and unplanned breaks with your tap dancing friends. Do you have a lot of time before your next performance?

I went to WW this AM just for WI. Missed the meeting. It was to be about setting up Plan B's. Guess we all have to deal with doing that on a frequent basis. I know I do.

Couldn't stay for the meeting due to subbing. I love subbing for coaches. I didn't have to be here till 10. I have 2 classes, 1.5 hours for lunch, then 2 more classes, so I can leave an hour early. Tomorrow I'm subbing for a coach at a different high school. I won't have computer access from there like I do here. I'll have 1.5 hours for lunch and will get out an hour early. Schools don't have subs go to athletics classes. :D:

Rhonda, enjoy your burger. You know how to budget and will do all right.

Have any of you tried Fiber One Brownies? They are good and only 2 pts. I've been having them with fruit and am loving them.

Ya'll have a great day. I'll prob be back here in a few minutes.

Vickie...praying for you..hugs !!!!

Rhonda..That pie almost sounds like chess pie..sounds good..I am going to watch Great Expectations soon, also planning to read some classics this summer that I have never read.

Pam..it will feel great to have that floor done & things put back in place. Good for you with your weight loss.

Sandra..hope you enjoyed the movie. You are smart to carry your snacks, I need to start doing that more.

I am going to get back on track with Core this week. The strict low carb is just too restrictive & then I give up. Also the Core seems heart healthy..
I am also going to get my main groceries every Sunday. I had been just getting a few days worth but then I end up not having food here, not wanting to go to the store either & being tempted to grab fast food.

The other night my cat was outside and I heard a blood curling cat scream.
I ran out and couldn't find her after searching for an hour. We have foxes & coyotes so I was crying & searching thinking she had been caught & eaten.
About an hour later she returned with matted up fur and missing fur but not wounded !!! She is not ever going out at night again.I have her litter box all set up. I think the daytime is safer but she hasn't wanted out today anyway.

I am working on some last house projects before looking for work. But April is slipping away so fast & I seem to be in slow mode.

Pam, thank you for popping in here. I hope your computer heals soon.

Nancy, what a scare you had. Sure am glad your cat is safe. We have coyotes around here, too, and worry about the rabbits. I saw one yesterday evening. Rabbit that is. Sure hope we have some "new" bunnies soon. That would be neat.

I'm munching on a banana now. Couldn't do without my fruit!

Tejas

I'm at my favorite political office, doing my volunteer stint which ends in 10 minutes.

Nancy, yes, the pie is a lot like chess but has a different texture that I prefer more. You can do Core with fewer carbs and not starve. I'm so glad to hear that your cat survived whatever it was! I haven't seen any foxes or coyotes in our area, but have seen lots of possums, skunks, and racoons. I don't want the dog tangling with them either.

We didn't go get hamburgers, and I had a mini-Denver omelette with no cheese at a favorite breakfast spot. I came home and ate 1/2 of the last piece of pie, said "that's it" and threw out the rest.

I hope you are all having a good day. Thinking of you, Vickie.

Morning chickies.

Nancy, core is good. It's healthy eating. I don't do well on low carb. Poor kitty.

Sandra, I love my fruit too.

Rhonda, the pie sounds delicious.

Pam, I hope all goes well today.

I'm subbing in science classes today. Won't have computer access. I'll prob be the only one in the class who doesn't. This campus has a BYOD policy. (Bring your own device) It's really neat. The students have a world of info at their fingertips.

I'm taking a WW TV dinner. We're planning to go out to dinner this evening. Have a great day, everyone.

Back to not being able to sleep until 3 or 4 am. But once I get 6 or 7 hours sleep I am getting lots done. Here are my April goals before I go to work.

1)Yard sale to get rid of as much stuff as possible. I decided it would be a good way to sell tools & clear out stuff & step daughter wants to do it with me.

2) get 1/2 bath done..guy is calling today with estimate

3) pick out house colors for June Exterior painting

4) List Truck, trailer & boat (I decided the boat is too much to worry with & I want to simplify)

5) Some odd projects around house...

Nancy, sounds like you have some good plans there.

Rhonda, I got an allergy shot several months ago that's still working. (knock on wood) I'm sorry you're sick, but aren't those wildflowers gorgeous!

I am home from subbing. Had an easy day. I won't sub again till the 19th. I have turned down several opportunities and am trying to cut back. I have to remind myself that I'm retired.

We went out for a late lunch/early dinner. It'll be fruit for me the rest of the day.

nancy237

Loving this core plan..

When it comes to food I think I favor variety over quantity. I would rather eat less in order to have good variety than eat more of a limited menu.

Just bought a used automatic pool cleaner than should make my life a bit easier.
Ours broke in the summer and I was trying to get by with manually vaccumming from the skimmers but it was hard to keep up.

I felt a little bit better as the day progressed. I haven't taken anything--I do the nasal lavage thing as yucky as it seems. It does help and most of the drugs you take for this misery make me feel even worse. But I might take Mucinex tonight.

I like your plans, Nancy.

pam920
04-11-2012, 10:10 PM
Rhonda, glad you are feeling better. I suffer through everything, when it would be easier to take a pill. Most of those things would knock me out. I have no tolerance for drugs and they hit me hard.

Sandra, yes, you are retired. If you enjoyed lunch, that's all that matters.

Nancy, hope you can check off all those things on your list. Do you still have your dog?

The floor is down. It looks wonderful. They did a fantastic job. The company is good and stands behind their products and labor. The new crew had 3 men and they worked well together and had a system. It took the first guys a full day to do half the room. Today, they tore out the flooring, plus put down the new floor in one day. It's a big room too. 19' x 19'. Now I get the fun of cleaning all the dust and putting my house back in order.

Rhonda, I just bought one. That's how I ate just one.

Vickie, do you have any reports yet?

I was thinking about how when I was a child one Hershey bar was such a treat. Somewhere along the line sugar addiction kicked in and one was not enough. Sound like an alcoholic? Overeaters' Anonymous helped me deal with that addiction. I know I'm not cured, but I'm hoping I can keep my impulses in control. I went almost 2 years without sugar desserts (other than sugar free every once in awhile), but am now testing myself to see if I can handle sugar. So far so good.

Curtis and I are going to see Hunger Games after lunch. I saw it earlier this week and am anxious to see it again. Some movies are like that for me. Avatar was another.

Have a great day, everyone.

Hi Ladies:)

I got back last night, when it was too late to post. Than I didn't feeling like getting up,after the fall I took at the bus station. Stupid me sat on my suitcase and lost my balance. Woke up, with a sore back and hurting my bad knee. This morning I had my new bridge put in and than the mail had to be pick up,along with grocery shopping and than I had to go to Walmart to my glasses fixed. The nose plug fell off.

Had a great time at my DD's and sister house, but the weight I gained was horrifying. Hopefully I will lose some of it as I'm not eating well with these new bridge. Guess I have to get used to them.Otherwise nothing new,my neighbors are all here so it a full house.

Found out from a friend we almost had a killing in my town yesterday, after telling my family how safe it is living up here. A guy tried to kill this step father and was found in a house on the street next to mine.YIKES!!! glad I installed the motion detectors.

Have to go back and read what you guys are up to.I'll get back to you soon,if not today I will post tomorrow.

Have a great day

thought I posted this morning. Guess not.

Maryann, welcome home. Sorry about your fall. It's one thing or another. That is pretty scary about the almost killing. Hope you get used to the bridge.

Sandra, I rarely eat candy. Hersheys with almonds was always my favorite, the kisses. I loved a good snicker bar too. I was eating the dark chocolate, as you know, it's good for the heart. Used to grab 2 or 3 with my popcorn. I'm out but think I'll get another bag when I shop.

Rhonda and Nancy, hope you are both better today. Might be allergies. I know mine bother me from time to time. We have plenty of pollen here right now and had to deal with it in Florida too.

Vickie, come in and tell us how things went for you.

Are you seeing the pictures of the weather in Oklahoma? Terrifying. They are predicting severe weather here on Sunday.

Sorry to hear that you had an accident Maryann. Your community is probably still really safe. Most murders aren't random; it's the family and friends we have to watch out for

Speaking of sugar, we went out for lunch and shared a blackberry cobbler with ice cream. Yummy, and sharing was just fine--it was enough. (If there could ever be enough!)

Pam, I love Snickers, too, and Peanut M&M's. I still haven't had another candy bar (but today was my weekly hot fudge sundae treat.)

Rhonda, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm blackberry cobbler/ice cream........

We had a good time at the movies then our weekly event at Braum's Ice Cream Parlor.

Good Morning Chicks! It is the end of a long week and I'm happy to see it go. I still don't have any final results though the preliminary results are both weird and exciting.

The Super Specialist found no nodule during the endoscopic ultrasound. Mind you, this nodule has been seen in 3 CT Scans and an endoscopy and I even have color 3D pictures of it from the scope. The Super Specialist said I would hear back from my Gastro Doctor but he didn't call this week. I'm guessing we'll just take a wait and see approach but this has all been a roller coaster for sure. This test wasn't the breeze that the last one was. It was at 10:30 and I was completely fasted yet they didn't take me in until noon. They tried to hook up the IV in two different places and I've still got a lump in the first place they tried. The test was supposed to last 30 minutes but mine lasted an hour....I guess because he was searching the the nodule. Worst part was that I woke up before the tube was out and was gagging and trying to swallow. Sheesh.

So....tonight I'm going out with my Niece and my GF that I met in 1974 at my first day of work right out of high school. I'm having a juicy burger and I'm not going to feel guilty about it. I am, however, needing to get firmly back on program. I have a couple of good days and then a bad one so now I'm maintaining the 10 pound gain quite nicely. NOT the plan!!

So that's what's up with me. I got the DASH diet cook book from the Library and only found one recipe that I liked. It seems VERY Core. I haven't gotten the diet book itself yet so I haven't been able to read about the plan yet. I wouldn't have been ready for it before, but now that I've primarily given up salt, I might be able to give it a whirl.

Sandra, good luck with the sugar. It can be evil. My problem is carbs and fat more than sugar. You seem to be doing fabulously this time around.

Rhonda, how are you feeling? I don't have any energy either and very bad allergies. I think my body is tired because of fighting the allergies.

Pam, how's everything going with you? You've actually been pretty quiet.

Mary Ann, I agree with the Chicks. Murders are normally not random. I'm sure you're safe.

Nancy, any news on the property?

No Sloan. I think I'll pop in on her FB page and say hello.

Gotta go eat some breakfast. I'm thinking old fashioned oatmeal with a few walnuts and craisins made with skim milk. Yum.

Vickie..thanks for the update..I was getting worried not hearing from you.
I don't blame you at all for that burger..you earned it..

No word on the land offer for 2 days ..he lowballed I countered with 5K off the list price.
Usually the counter offers go back & forth some..Does make me wonder. He told the realtor
he would be making another offer soon. Now I wonder if he meant on another property??? Realtor says that isn't what he meant..he may just be letting me worry & its working ...I am willing to come down , just not quite to where he was.
I found a charming neighborhood yesterday that might be perfect for me ..
Lots of small houses wiith front porches, lots of sidewalks, near some good nature trails..

Good Morning Ladies:)

Got up early today and my back & knee are not bothering me so far. The temps are in the high 60's and would you believe in the 70's tomorrow so I'm going to take it easy but I need to weed some of my heavy winter clothes out of the closet and bring down some of my spring clothes. Other than that,I have a date with the washer & dryer.

Thanks for all the welcome backs,I'm also glad to be home. After a while the screaming of the kids does get to you. I need peace and quite.

Got on the scale this morning I dropped 3 or the 8 lbs that I gained while in NY. So that's a start.

PAM-Thanks,You're right there's always something. I guess no where in the world is safe anymore.,but living in a small town if still better than living in a big city. Oh the bridge was fine until I ate and it moved out of position and than trying to get it into mouth I had problems with the point sticking out of the bottom of the partial,so I will go back on Monday and have it filed down.

RHONDA-Thanks it was my own stupidity, for thinking that a small suit case would support me. Oh no I fine this morning about the shooting. I know that I safe here in my small town, even though I living here alone.

SANDRA-Thanks,have to be a little bit more careful than I was. Not giving it a second thought anymore. Oh it was hard for not going into my DGC baskets. With all the candy they got. We had 4 chocolate cakes and cookies the night before Easter as my DD in laws are Jewish and were celebrating passover. I just did that, passover-ed the goodies, and ate the main meal but I still gain weight. Go figure!!!

[B]VICKIE-Thanks I know now that I don't have to be afraid,my friend told me that they had to close off the street behind me as it leads to the main highway to get off the cape but they got him and now hes in jail.

NANCY-Thanks I feeling fine now, hope that all goes well for you selling property .

Have to go and start my dinner and than tackle with my winter clothes and than laundry.

Have a great day
