Mini-Goals - Almost there

View Full Version : Almost there

I am almost at a goal I set last summer. I wanted to lose 50 lbs before this summer. Now when I said it, I was on the top of a mountain, out of breath, very proud of myself that I had hauled my butt to the top, but I thought I cannot haul all of myself up a mountain summer 2011.

Now, like every fat person, how many times have we said we want to lose, but don't quite get around to it. I had been bobbing up and down the same 5-10 lbs and I just laughed to myself, thinking it was just another thing I would get around to.

I had weighed myself in October and thought hooray, I lost 2 lbs since summer and just laughed, thinking I was going to bob up and down again. I started a new job and got very focused on it. I had to walk farther, had to run to catch a subway on more than one morning, and my new office didn't offer a food court or accessible lunch place. I stopped buying lattes and such, because it was too much to juggle in the morning on a crowded train.

After Xmas, I sucked it up and decided to see how disastrous the holidays had been to my waistline. I was shocked. I lost 18 lbs. Not sure how, but honestly, I think it was the change in food during work hours and the extra effort needed to catch a train twice a day.

Since then, I have counted calories during the day, gave myself an all out free day on the weekends where I could satisfy cravings if I wanted, and adjusted my weight loss so it wasn't falling off. More success at keeping it off, I think.

Today, I have officially lost 35 lbs, so I might actually reach my goal!

Thanks! I'm trying and seem to succeeding more than not. Maybe it was just time and I'm ready to make drastic changes. I think this place is a great inspiration to keep going so if I do have a few moments where things don't go as well, I feel better reading a lot of the success stories in the forums.
