Default Shopping for clothes - an observation

I'm not much of a clothing shopper due to not feeling good/confident about my 20lbs weight gain over the past year. When I do go shopping, I notice that all the bigger sizes are gone off the rack. I find it amusing that, given our society's weight loss obession, that all I see in pant sizes on racks are sizes 2, 4, 6, a few 8s, and one to two 10s. I rarely see 12s, 14s, and 16s anymore. If so many people are losing weight, then were are my size 14/16 pants to purchase for work? Just a fun observation! Has this been the same case of you guys? FYI...I do my shopping at JCPennys, Kohls, and stores similar to them.

At your neighboor maybe? I dont know if that many people are loosing weight, my friends are mostly gaining it, they want to loose but do not want to give up food and alcool. As we age we tend to gain weight and the population is aging so here goes your pants.

My experience is that whatever size I am looking for, is not there! lol I don't know why, but when I would look for 24's, all I would see is 22's and 26's. And now that I'm looking for 8's or 10's, all I see is 12's or 2's, or heaven forbid, 00. That one still freaks me out, lol.

I find that whatever size I am at the time it always seems to be sold out. When I was a 20 there were like no twenties and tons of the smaller sizes and even a few of the larger sizes. Now that I'm a 14 I see tons of 12s, 16s, and 20s on the rack but only one or two pants styles in 14. It's quite irritating. XD

I'd assume the larger sizes at those stores are sold out. lol!

LOL... this is so funny to me because I just had a big Shopping trip on Friday. And the 2 stores I spent the most time in were Penney's and Kohls.

Guess what? In the stores I shopped at, there were racks and racks of L & XL in the Misses dept on the 50-80% off racks, but very small sections of Med. lol I looked through an entire huge rack of slacks and there were only 2 pair of size 6's left, and 100's of 14 thru 18's.

My silly point is, no matter what size you are looking for, there never seems to be as many. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence!

I know whatever size I want is never on the sale rack. If I want my size no matter what size it is FULL PRICE!

Ha Ha! This is so funny. I agree! When I was larger I couldn't find my size. Sometimes they were sold out, other times, nothing went that large. Now, I still can't find my size. They are always sold out. Saturday I was looking at jeans. I wanted to see if I could get into a size 10. They had 8's and 12's. Go figure! I just wanted to try them on!

This! It was easiest when I was a 10. Any bigger and all they had were tiny sizes. Now they're always out of Smalls.

Um.... you see all those sizes that aren't your size because when you find your size you stop looking. It's like finding something you've lost in the last place you look, you know?

Im the same size as you and I get my clothes at target. They have cute things, and while some times things are out of stock, I can generally find things that fit.

I find all the middle sizes are missing, so normally there is a size 8 and then a size 18. Being an unpopular size is great if you want to soak up the clothes on the sale racks, though. I was the most popular size for ages so I never got to buy anything in the sale, it was always size 10 clothes left over.

Then again there's bra shopping - torture. They have small bands with small boobs, medium bands with medium boobs, large bands with small, medium or large boobs. The section for small bands with big boobs takes a microscope to locate.

Even worse, they keep the small sizes up high, maybe they figure fat people can't reach their arms above their heads. Now I have to ask for everything to be passed down to me in my chair.

My biggest problem with sizes are how they can vary from store to store, brand to brand. I know a lot of places do vanity sizing, but it makes it really hard to know what my "true" size is.
