Since Valentine's Day is this weekend, lets start a new challenge! St. Patrick's Day is March 17th and just over a month away. I want to continue working out 3-4 days a week with Walk Away the Pounds and stay on plan with my calorie log. I am 9 pounds from reaching the 200 lb mark....so close! My goal is 6 pounds for this challenge.

Anyone else want to join in??

I'm in. My goal is to be in a regular size 18 by then and right now I'm in a 20. My calorie budget is 1300-1400 calories and I will be working out to the 30DS five times a week and going to the gym 3 times a week. Gotta work off this belly. :exercise::lifter::running:

I have a newbie question -- how do the challenges work? Do I just set a goal and chat on this thread while trying to achieve it? Or are there certain check-in times/places? :?:

i'm in. I met my vDAY goal a while back and kinda just maintained for a bit. I'm sitting at 187. I'd like to be at 182 by St paddy's day :) Whoot!

I guess different people may have different parameters, but yes, this is what I've done on the challenges I've participated in.

I'm in for this - I'd like to be in the 2-teens by St Patricks Day!!! And that would also be the half way point to my current goal, so it would be a great place to get to for me. Slightly ambitious because my pace isn't that fast, but I like having something to work towards.

So glad to have everyone participate! I just wanted a thread where we could post our progress and keep each other motivated with our own goals. It is so much easier to break this journey into baby steps and focus on those successes.

I had an awful craving for fast food today. I did give in, but counted every single calorie. In the end it was not as satisfying as I imagined! Funny how that is sometimes.

Happy Friday!

I'm in. Since I'm just starting out and it's usually pretty easy to melt the pounds off in the beginning I'll go with a lofty goal and say I'd like to see the 180s by St. Patrick's Day.

I'm in. I would like to be in the 180s by St. Patrick's Day. I know I will really have to push to get there but I think I can do it. I'm going to continue keeping my calories at 9800 per week but add more cardio to my current workout regime.

I'm in. My goal is one pound per week. So by St. Patricks day, I will be down a minimum of 4 pounds. I have to stay realistic for me as my weight loss has slowed drastically -sigh- So I will weigh no more than 138.6 come that day!

Parkedout & Babygrant~ I can't wait to reach onederland and never go back! This is the last time EVER that I will be over 200lbs.

I plan to watch the opening Olympic ceremony tonight. Just think of the dedication those athletes must endure for YEARS before they reach the Olympics. Such inspiration! Guess what. We can accomplish our goals too, one day at a time :D

The morning is going well so far. I had my protein smoothie for breakfast, my cheerios for snack and been chugging down the water. I will be going to the gym in bout an hour.

This is going to be a great month and we are all going to meet our goals.

Back from the gym and I was hitting it hard. I actually ran good. I kept telling myself I could do 15 more seconds so I lasted a lot longer. I'm feeling good about this challenge.

How is everyone's Tuesday coming along so far?

I met my first mini-goal today. I weighed in UNDER 200 lbs! :carrot:

I'm now at 199 which puts me 10 lbs from my St. Pat's goal of under 190. I can do this!

I also overcame a pretty big hurdle (for me) yesterday. Due to some circumstances beyond my control I got very little sleep on Sunday night (about an hour and a half) and normally I will eat myself awake to get me through the day but yesterday I more than stayed on plan and did so quite easily. I was very pleased.

Is anyone excited about this challenge or is it just me. I love having something to look forward to and seeing results of pushing myself. I wish I had started this the day after I had the baby two years ago.

And I am also very excited about this challenge. There is nothing in my way but ME and I am steadily pushing myself into gear. I only weigh once a week... so no scale progress, but I was within my calorie budget yesterday. And today is looking like more of the same! ;)

Really ready to start exercising again. Will adopt Nike's "Just Do It" until I can find the 'want to' in myself. No more excuses!!

We can do this!!

Did 30 Day Shred DVD this morning to help with some of the strength training i am doing on days where i don't run. So far today is also on point for calories. I have a Lean Cuisine with salmon and wild rice planned for dinner.

I'd like to join in too!

My weight goal will be to get out of the teens.

Exercise goal to continue cardio(either Denise Austin or treadmill or BOTH!) 5 days or more per week and weight/resistance train arms, legs, and abs each twice per week.

Today I've already done Denise Austin Cardio and Abs + Stretch/Yoga. I'd like to get in at least 30 minutes on the treadmill if the baby will keep sleeping :O).

My next weigh in is Monday, 2/22. I'm trying not to become a slave to the scale and just weighing once per week.

I don't do weigh ins frequently but I did one about two weeks ago and when I finished my workout yesterday at the gym I weighed in again. First of all I thought I weighed more than what the scale said so I went bananas. That was a beautiful surprise. Well yesterday I got when I got on the scale I thought I may have lost about 5 maybe 8 pounds. Well I had lost a whopping 15lbs. I almost screamed in the gym.

Blairsey, if it makes you feel any better I weigh daily too. I am a numbers girl, even if the scale hasn't budged I like to know what it says every morning as I keep a spreadsheet with my calories total, how much water I drank, whether or not I worked out and if I consumed refined sugars and starches. I think so long as you don't let the scale run your life there is nothing wrong with weighing regularly.

Calories are right on track today. Came in at 1616. Just some water for the rest of the evening. I am stuffed anyway from leftover baked beans (vegetarian) plus a turkey wrap with avocado & hummus!

No working out today (Wednesday is my rest day) tomorrow morning i will be back in the gym to start Week 7 of the C25K program. And to try some more pullups!

I went 300 calories over today because I ate way too much fruit. I really love it and I was fighting a craving for peanut butter(my weakness). It worked, but I didn't want to go over my limit. I weigh myself at night and in the morning every day, so don't feel bad. That's how i stay in control.

We all weigh a lot more than you do. When you look at the loss as a percentage of what each person weighs they are, relatively speaking, pretty comparable with the exception of special circumstances that cause big whooshes -- but again those people have a lot more to lose, so in the grand scheme of things... ;)

Had my toast and diet soda. Off to start todays water. Forgot my snack again. What is WRONG with me? I go to the trouble to prepare it, then leave it on the table. :dizzy:

I'm in!

I want to reach my 1st and 2nd goals listed in my signature. In onederland which I hope to do by Monday, and get down to "overweight" for my BMI, no more obese.

I reached my 1st goal on the 15th! Now to get down to 191 lbs and reach my 2nd goal!

TOM for me too. Had a "planned" cheat today (Chipotle) which really hit the spot! Still within my calorie budget, so no guilt :). No exercise today though...on the road for a meeting tomorrow. Will have to do a little extra this weekend. I think I'll do ok with the hotel breakfast tomorrow, but wish me luck at lunch...if they have chicken wild rice soup (creamy fatty yummy kind), I don't know if I will be able to resist!!

Everyone seems to be doing so good! I hope those of you who have been ill feel better soon.

I love Chipoltle too. It's so yummy. Haven't had it since I started the diet though.

I think a 18 is about a "half size" down from an 18w not sure though.

I'm stuck on the same plateau I've been at since early January. Gah I will break it eventually. I'm tempted to go off plan for a few days to kick my system in the pants with extra calories (just eat my "maintenance amount") and then go back on plan. Hopefully I'll see my ticker weight again by the end of next week. I'm sitting at 188.2 . the ticker weight was 186.7 so I have a little less than 2 pounds to lose to get there. I'm sure some of this is water weight since I saw 168 earlier in the week.

Sizes very between manufacturers, and the proportions are usually slightly different with plus sizes vs. regular sizes, but generally, 16W is pretty close to an 18 regular.

Welcome, gr82bmom! Good luck on your goal!

Fruitlady, hang in there. You'll have a drop. Remember, you're a 1/2 lb lighter -- even THAT is an accomplishment and you never know when it'll be followed up by a whoosh. ;)

I was feeling very bloated and just blah Monday and Tuesday and my weight has been, basically, as a standstill since last Thursday but this morning I woke up to a whoosh. Had to step on the scale a couple times just to make sure. :dizzy: Since I *am* feeling less bloated now, I'm hoping it'll stick (all of my whooshes thus far have so there IS hope. Hehe.)

That whoosh put me at 194.5 which is 5.5 lbs from my goal of being in the 180's. 5.5 lbs in 21 days. SO do-able. :D

I myself like to get on the scale everyday. I know it's been said that you shouldn't but I think that if you can understand fluctuations and to not beat yourself up about it, for me it's okay. I think it helps keep me in check...say I didn't post that teaspoon of peanut butter I licked off the knife from my kids p&b sandwich I will know why I'm not losing like I should. Plus, I'm still new on this new healthier lifestyle that my weight loss is going to come off quicker for me in the beginning. I am down another 2.5 today! Horray!

I am fighting to eat about 1300 calories a day for the last 3 days or so. Apparently my body is adjusting because I lost about 3 pounds!! I ended up changing my starting and current weights because I got a new scale, which unfortunately reads quite a bit higher than my old scale. But the good part is that it reads the same thing even if I get on and off a few times. My old scale would give a different number every time, and not just a small difference, sometimes it would be 3 or 4 lbs apart, a few seconds away!! lol!

So this gets me back up into the 230s, which means my initial goal of being in the 2-teens by St Patricks day isn't too realistic. So now I'm trying to get back into the 220s again. But this time, I think I'll REALLY be there, and not just be relying on an inaccurate scale.

Would really like to start adding in some upper body work. Need to get rid of some of the upper arm jiggle in time for summer. Could I ACTUALLY wear a sleeveless top in public this year??? Wow. For me, my weekend was full of off plan stuff- I practiced moderation--but two days in a row of it does add up. The scale shows me back to 206--which I absolutely own. I got up, back on plan-- Shredded (and am less sore-except my abs, which are SCREAMING!).

But I feel good. I know this works. You just have to work it!;)

Happy Monday All!

Parkedout - I realized my attitude is what's going to keep me. Everyday I talk to myself because I am seeing really good results and don't want to fall off plan. To add to that, it doesn't take much to excite me and if I go down any portion of any inches it's victory and I celebrate it. I'm almost to my St Patrick's Day goal. It has only been about 2 months and I can't see life any other way!!

How is everyone doing on plan today? I'm having a GR8 day!!

Oh boy, what a weekend! Still fighting this cough and crud trying to feel better. As a result I took the week off from exercise but still stayed within my calories. To my surprise I lost 3 lbs!!! I don't understand sometimes but I'll take it! With this loss I met my challenge goal, so now my goal is to reach onederland and lose 4 more pounds. I can't believe I am sooooo close :D

My motivation is still running high and I feel so accomplished! Everyone is doing so great :carrot:

I knew I shouldn't have weighed in today...wanted to see if I was down another .3 lbs since yesterday so I could officially change my avatar to 25 lbs lost. But alas, it said I had GAINED a pound! Oh well. I will be good and wait until my usual Friday weigh in. (I have been doing some weight training lately, so maybe that's it? Or just a normal fluctuation?) As long as I'm going the right way again Friday, I'll be happy :)

That @#$% scale is mocking me. :o

Actually, I'm feeling better about it after looking at my calender. TOM is any day now, so that explains why I've actually gained a pound instead of the nice steady loss I've gotten used to. Here's hoping for a lovely little woosh in the next few days!

Morning Ladies!

I am down another half pound. Back to 205.8...which means I offically lost the weight I gained last weekend. I learned a VERY valuable lesson, that unless I want to pay for a weekend with all the work I had done in the prior week, its best to stay ON PLAN.:p

Got my workout in today. It was EASY getting up at 5am this morning, as I had gone to bed early last night to avoid snacking. That sounds like a win/win to me!:D

Hope everyone is doing well! Only a couple of weeks left! Lets all give it a HUGE push and see how we do!

Going to do my workout after work and eating on plan. I have been struggling with my mind today. I can feel the self destruction pattern coming and I haven't learned how to deal with it.

However, I packed my meals like I do everyday, I brought my workout clothes to go to the gym after work. I just know I have to get my mind in check or the same thing that happened in times past will happen again. Any suggestions?

~jigglefree~ hang in there; you can do this!

So it's Thursday morning here, my weigh day. I get on the scale and it says +2.2 lbs. from lst week. WTFreak! But TOM is here, early I might add, and my hands are really puffy. I have been OP all week, so I am hoping this is water retention. But man is it disapointing to see a gain after being on plan all week.

Scale was down again. 205.2 from 205.8 so, I will take it. THEN I messed up and had cupcakes ! WTH!!!:o:o:o:o

:?::?::?:

Why am I self sabotaging? As soon as I get somewhere new, I start heading for the 'fat hills'. UGH.

Can't take it back, so I am just going to NOT scrap this day--- concentrate on my water intake to flush it out and Make sure I have 'safe' meals this afternoon and evening and hopefully offset the damage.

So disappointed, but determined to make it right!

Parkedout - I was feeling like that yesterday, like I was going to self destruct. Well I did a post on this site and they brought me back center. I'm good now. The main thing is to stop thinking about what you always did in the past and move forward NOW. Don't say what you are always doing. This time is DIFFERENT! So get off the fat hill and go for a walk or whatever you do for exercise. YOU WILL GET TO GOAL!!

I'm having a fabulous day. I got my calories in check, not too many carbs and will be doing the 1 hour workout I did yesterday. I walked/ran two miles on the treadmill and 30 minutes of weight training. Gotta get an ab workout in tonight.

OK lets get to it ladies. There are two weeks left to nail down that goal.

Blairsey
03-05-2010, 09:30 AM
Those 2 ounces I lost yesterday...well, they're back. :carrot: Woohoo! Gotta love TOM! :dizzy: If I wasn't calorie counting, I think I would have binged by now. I did on every other plan I've tried.

Parkedout- Don't get down on yourself over 1 cupcake. You are counting calories, after all...so count up those calories and move on! I *KNOW* the reason I'm successful this time is that nothing is off limits for me. Making something I really want "off-limits" leads to binges and feelings of guilt and failure, for me. I do make sure most of my food is healthy, high quality stuff, but I enjoy some kind of treat, within my calorie budget, every single day. I'm learning moderation. :carrot:

I'm still around but my goal got messed up when I changed scales and ended up having to add 7 lbs to everything. My original goal was to be in the 2-teens, but that's not going to happen.

So I guess my new goal is to get to 226, which is where I was before the scale thing. Well, I think I'll try to get BELOW 226, so that I'm finally losing "new" weight again. I'm counting the current loss in my total amount lost, but I want to see new, lower numbers too!

I am also trying to build more upper body strength. I'd like to be able to do 5 weight assisted pull ups, with 20 lbs less assistance that i am using now.

Yay! I have 1 lb to go!
