Hi Turtles,
I opened this new thread since we had gotten long. It sounds like we're all doing great.
This morning I took some time to plan dinner meals for the next two weeks.
My dh and I like very different things and often he'll take care of his own dinner, but I think I've come up with a menu that will work for both of us.

Hey Bandit, you're doing great! Have you tried Impossible Veggie Pie? It's a classic WW standby that is easy and I think tasty. I've got a lot of soups planned for the next two weeks and if you'd like a recipe I've got red beans and rice and broccoli soup for starters. Also, I'm trying a new recipe for curried chicken and veggies made in a crockpot. I'll let you know if I like it or not.

Everybody take care and be happy. I know we can do this!

01-06-2008, 10:03 AM
Hi Turtles,
I think i have been doing good the last week. I think i had one off point day the whole time and i have been doing exercise every morning so far.
Judy - I hope the two week menu for dinner works for both you and Dh. That would be great and i am sure would make things easier.

01-07-2008, 09:55 PM
Just marking the page. I'll be back to post later. I have to go run an errand. TTFN

01-07-2008, 11:22 PM
Hi Judy - I tried doing a search for the recipe but nothing came up.
Maybe you could post it for us when you get a chance or if it is on this site, where should I be looking?

Well, we now have a warm spell which means lots of rain & fog. But all the ice is now gone, but we still have lots of snow which is great for the skiiers.

I didn't have a great weekend foodwise, had some potatoe chips (which is my biggest downfall) when I went to bingo with mom (we didn't win), but did make a nice stew and ham which I had for dinner last night & tonight. Ate lots of fruit today and dranks lots of water - so off to good start for this week.

Cherry - sounds like you are doing great, keep up the good work.

And hope all the rest of you turtles are behaving!

01-08-2008, 10:11 AM
Hi Turtles,
Cherry Autumn, You're doing great! :cheer: :bravo: Keep up the good work and you'll get a feeling of accomplishment and a :goodscale: !

Bandit, You're doing great--I love potato chips too. I have another high fat/high caloric food that I love to combine the chips with--but to stop anyone from bingeing, I'll refrain from mentioning it! LOL It sounds like you're doing great and hooray for cooking and keeping things under control!

here's the recipe for the Impossible Vegetable Pie:

1 box frozen chopped broccoli (or any frozen veggie)thawed, but not cooked
1/3c. chopped onion
1/3 cup chopped bell pepper (red or green)
1 cup. shredded cheddar cheese lowfat
1/2cup low fat Bisquick baking mix
1 cup ff milk
1/2t. salt
1/4t. pepper
1 egg and 1 egg white

Preheat oven to 400. Spray 9-inch pie plate with nonstick spray. Stir together thawed veggie, inion, bell pepper and cheese and pour into pie plate. stir remaining ingredients until blended. Pour over vegetables in pie plate. Bake 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes
Serves 6 for 2points a serving.

(This freezes fairly well. I put individual servings into sandwich bags, then put all the bags into a Ziploc Freezer storage bag. I like this as a light lunch with a cup of soup. I even eat it as a snack if I'm really hungry. Hope you like it!)

I'm doing well. It looks like the extra weight is coming off. If I can get on the :tread: today and watch what I eat, I'm looking forward to a :goodscale:
Wish me well! I've gotten on the :tread: several times this week, plus taking down Christmas decorations and cleaning house got me busy and burning calories.

Good luck and :bravo: to us all. Princess, how are you doing? How are you feeling? INVU and NEWYEARNEWME and Chrily--how are you guys?

01-08-2008, 11:27 AM
Judy - thanks for the recipe, sounds very good & easy. Will be great for any meal.

Princess - hope you aren't in too much pain.

Everyone else - have a good day!

01-09-2008, 12:48 AM
Hi all, looks like everyone is doing well. I didn't do well eating today but managed to do a Leslie Sansone workout with my sister. Not feeling very energetic. I have a nasty little RA flare in my hands and they are swollen and not working so hot. I can't grip anything with my right hand. :) Ah...that's the life huh?

Princess-How is your back doing? Hopefully you'll be back in action soon. Back pain is miserable, esp. in your situation. Saying prayers for a speedy recovery.

Judy-Man, you've been a busy woman! It took me two days to get my Christmas deco down. Today I didn't get much done at all. My sister went back to work and so today was my first day babysitting my little nephew, Logan. He's two months old and it seems like he is constantly hungry. I love him to death but blessing God that I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to feed a baby. I'm really loving my older children now--okay, not that old yet. Nicole is only 5, Kayla is 8 now, and then I have my little teenager, Tiana (14 yrs old).

Bandit-Hey! How are things with you?

Cherry-You're doing great from what I can see. Keep up the awesome work!

Off to soak in the tub and read my book. Everyone is in bed and now its my quiet time. Night ladies....

01-09-2008, 11:31 AM
Chrily - I just thought it was funny that with a 2.5 and a 7 month old that i have to schedule a nice soak in the tub. I tell my husband i have to have a break tonight will you watch the kids while i soak. He is always helpful and supportive though.

01-09-2008, 12:41 PM
Hi ladies

Christina - things are good up here. Really windy today, but no snow.

Judy - I am going to make your recipe tonight since my gf comes for dinner usually on Wed nights. We like to try new things, so this is a good time to make it. I have some leftover ham we will have along with it. Sounds good to me.

Cherry - hope you get the break you deserve!

I have stayed OP so far this week. And am walking 20 min before my lunch, so hope that helps.

Have a good one!

01-09-2008, 01:34 PM
Chrily and Cherry and Bandit,
Weigh to go, girls! We're all making efforts, realizing we don't have to be perfect but just keep on keepin' on in the Turtle tradition.

I lost a good amount of weight this week. I lost 2.2#. Of course I was disappointed because I wanted to knock off all the Christmas weight and then I realized how foolish that was. 2.2# off is a reason to jump up and down and rejoice!!!! So, this week coming up I'll exercise again aiming for 5x on the treadmill :tread: and eat WW friendly foods and see the rest of the weight come off. Then my plan is to lose a pound a week every week and work hard to do that. Yay!

Bandit, I hope you like the impossible veggie pie. I like it because it's points friendly, and can be made in as many varieties as there are veggies. I think it sounds like a lot of fun to have dinner with your friend once a week. :chef:

Okay==signing off here. Have lots to do. Our winter weather is taking a break and we're in the high 50's right now. Yay!

Morning all,

Well I have my third round of spinal injections this afternoon... ugh! I am really hoping and praying that this does the trick!

My eating has just not been good, I start off the day fine but as it goes on I find myself eating things that I just should not be... I have to get a grip on it soon as the scale is going up fast.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Judy, thanks so much for the recipe that you posted, I have it printed out and will be trying it this weekend I think. It looks easy enough that I should be able to throw it together and get it in the oven pretty quickly... that is the name of the game as it takes me 24-48 hours to recover from the procedure that I have today. Thanks again.

Have a great weekend ladies!

01-10-2008, 11:06 AM
Oh Princess,
I'm sending you lots of healing :goodvibes: because you are dealing with your pain and your situation really well. Please know that I'm here supporting you and praying for you. Our group is sending you our :grouphug: and are hopeful that the treatment you just received will get you better.

Good morning, turtles:

Judy - that receipe was sooooooo good & really easy. We bothed loved it & I brought some for my lunch today, so looking forward to that. Nice recipe to change up with just different veggies - thanks!
And good for you on that loss - fabulous, keep it going.

Princess - good luck with your treatment today. Terrible you are in such pain and going through all the aftermath as well. Hoping this will fix you up.
It is hard to focus on food when you can't really concentrate on it. You will get back on track when you are better able to deal with it. Take care.

Everyone else, have a great day!

01-10-2008, 02:54 PM
I am so glad you liked the Impossible Veggie Pie. I honestly think it's like a very light quiche and I do like it. I made it with broccoli as the main veggie this week, but I've done it with peas and carrots or mixed veggies--pretty much anything frozen that's easy and appeals to me at the time. :chef:

Princess, I hope you will be able to make the pie this weekend. It is easy to make. Pretty much a little chopping and thawing and mixing and then time to bake and you're done. What I like about it is that it is so low cal that I can eat one half of the "pie", get full, and still have only used up about 6 points.
As a matter of fact, I like it enough that I have to freeze the leftovers because it's easy to go back for a sliver and then a sliver, and you know that adds up pretty quick.

Princess, of course I'm with Bandit on your feelings right now. I'm glad you posted and it's easy to eat when you're in pain with nothing much to do but eat. I'm sending even more :goodvibes: and :cheer: to help you get through this.

01-13-2008, 11:25 PM
Hi ladies:

This weekend I made 2 ww recipes. Oat & apricot breakfast bars & fiesta chicken with rice. Both turned out really good. The bars were abit hard to mix but still taste great - good fast breakfast idea.

My weekend was nice. Went to casino with mom & stepdad but none of us won anything. Then went to bingo & won $100 which was nice.

Ate alittle too much on Sat but have been pretty good today. I w/i in tomorrow so will let you know how that goes. Hopefully will be down some.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. We are suppose to get snow this evening & that will be fine since most of what we had has melted.

Take care.

01-14-2008, 02:17 PM
Hi Turtles,
Had a wonderful weekend. Had company in on Friday night with dh. It was a lot of fun. I made much too much food (I notice people are eating less now)
and the leftovers called me too often. Went to ballet with my dd and saw Romeo and Juliet. It was glorious! Had dinner out--broiled fish. I honestly think that was a mistake because it made me feel like I was dieting and I ate leftovers when I came home. However, Sunday was a great day and I've exercised every day but one this week. Sooooo, all in all I'm doing fine. Today is off to a great start and I already have my dinner made for tonight.
It's Rachel Ray's Country Corn Soup and I pointed it out.

Bandit, thanks for chiming in. Where can I find the fiesta chicken recipe? It sounds like something I'd like. :chef: Good luck on your WI

Everybody take care and remember our 2008 resolutions!!! :bravo: :cheer:

01-14-2008, 03:52 PM
Hi Judy - the recipe was on the ww site under new recipes, but basically it is:

2 cooked chicken breasts (whichever way you like to cook) - No skin
1 can condensed 1/2 fat cream of chicken soup
1 can water
1 cup salsa
1 cup frozen corn
3/4 cup parcooked rice
Chop up chicken & mix all together & bake 1 hour at 350. Then add 4 oz light cheddar cheese shredded & broil until bubby.
Makes 6 servings at 6 points/each.

I was down 3# this week & was happy with that. Got in another walk today before my lunch which was leftover of the above recipe & grapefruit.
So off to good start for this week.

Hope you all have a great Monday!

01-14-2008, 07:25 PM
Thanks so much for the great recipe. I'm going to print it out so I can make it sometime soon.

Congrats on the fabulous :goodscale: Weigh to go! You're doing great!

How's everyone else doing? I had another great day with exercise and good food and portion control. Gotta keep this up!
Judy

01-18-2008, 11:03 AM
Hi Turtles,
Where are we? I've been out east for a couple of days. Eating was so-so, but I think I did okay. Hated missing my WW WI, but hope to get there soon.
Here's :bravo: for everyone having a good weekend.

01-21-2008, 09:40 AM
Happy Monday all.

Went to W/I on Saturday, oh my but it was ugly! But I went and I have a starting point now and am back on track. I ate a lot of points this weekend so will have to be careful through the rest of the week but it is do-able.

My back and neck are starting to feel a bit better and I can start walking on the treadmill again... I have to start slowly as per doctors orders but that is ok with me. I have lost a lot of the muscle that I had built up and am very weak especially my upper body but it will come back with time.

It was super cold here this weekend... below zero both days with wind chills of -18 at one point... blah! Ready for summer to come.

Hope all is well with everyone. Have a happy day.

Bandit: on your recipe you talked about butter buds... what are those?

01-21-2008, 10:47 AM
Princess- so glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery. That is great that you will be able to use the treadmill.

Bandit- thanks for keeping the board going when know one else was around. Sometimes i just don't feel like i have anything to say or atleast not positive things to say.

Hope every one is taking that one step in front of the other no matter how slow we may be!

01-21-2008, 03:20 PM
Princess - the latest recipe doesn't mention butter buds,so I am confused?
Glad you are feeling better.

I was up .4 this week so have to do better this week.

Hi to everyone else.

01-21-2008, 06:18 PM
Hi Turtles,
Princess, I was hoping you would get better soon. I am so grateful that the pain is easing up and you're able to get on the treadmill. (Man, I really hurt myself doing a fast yoga tape about 2 years ago and I haven't done yoga since. My reliable is the treadmill and I guess I'll stick to that. It's miserable to hurt yourself doing exercise, but it does happen and you've got a positive attitude.) The weight will come off and you're tracking now, so you'll get right back on track for points and weight loss. Here's a :cheer: and
for coming through a tough time.

Cherry, I'm glad you're reading the posts. Consider chiming in even if you don't have anything positive to say. It's good to know you're out there and we all struggle from time to time. I think within one week I'll have at least 5-7 times that are really tough and I am able to choose the right things about 3 times, so maybe it helps to know we all struggle.

Bandit, thanks for chiming in. You're only up a tiny bit on the scale and you'll go in the right direction this week. :goodscale:

Ariana, if you're out there, please chime in. We need you and your great ideas! :bravo:

All goes well here. I'm keeping up with the :tread: and I've got lots of green stickers on my calendar for each day I exercise for 30minutes or more. I'm also experimenting with new soup recipes and am trying to keep tight today because I WI on Wednesday morning.
 and :dancer: to us all! We're a brave bunch of chicks--or should I say Turtles?

Morning all and happy Tuesday!

Bandit: Yup, it's official, I am loosing my mind :dizzy:. I thought it was the chicken recipe but after reading your post and looking at it again I think it actually was the "par-boiled rice" that I had a question about... I will have to double check the butter buds thing, must have been another recipe that I saw somewhere. Ok, back to the rice. I normally use basmati rice but I would imagine that any uncooked rice with do?

Judy: Thanks for your encouraging words... I appreciate them.

Ariana: Where did you go?

Cherry: I know how you feel, I stop by here a couple of times a day but don't always post... I am trying to get back to posting at least once a day through out the work week... weekends are harder for me to get online but I do manage from time to time.

Still on track! Went to physical therapy yesterday so I skipped going to the gym but will most like stop there on my way home today... oh my but the PT makes me so sore!

Have a happy day ladies!

01-22-2008, 12:23 PM
Hi turtles:

Princess - the parboiled rice looks like uncooked rice but I guess they parboil it before packing. But any kind of rice would do - just put it in uncooked with rest of ingredients. I really liked this recipe.

It is really cold up here & we got lots of snow today & calling for 20cm more tonight - so that makes getting around tricky. I made meatloaf last night, so have leftovers for tonight for supper.

Hope you are feeling better & everyone else - keep on tracking & drinking your water!

01-22-2008, 03:46 PM
Hi Turtles,
Okay, it's official. I'm making Bandit's Fiesta Chicken tonight--with or without Butter Buds. LOL. I've got all the ingredients in the house and it sounds very good and a change of pace from what I usually make. My WI is tomorrow and I have high hopes, but I'll try and be realistic. I'm stepping up the amount of fiber I use and I'm hoping that will help shake up a weight loss for me.

Bandit, I'm so glad you're chiming in, and thanks for the recipe.

Princess, I'm glad your P.T. is coming along and please don't overdo the gym.
We're all getting back on track after the holidays.

Take care, be well and chime in often. INVU and NEWYEARNEWME, how are you doing? Chime in if you can.

01-22-2008, 08:36 PM
Thanks ladies for the words of encouragement. Right now i don't feel like i can climb back on the wagon because i am UNDER it. I just keep gaining weight and i have to find a way to turn this disaster around.

Hi and thanks to Judy, Bandit, and Princess. You guys are doing great.

01-23-2008, 11:38 AM
Morning ladies... hope all is well with everyone and that you are staying warm...

The scale is starting to go down just a bit so that is a good thing. I went to the gym on my way home from work yesterday... did a slow mile on the treadmill and an even slower two miles on the stationary bike :D but at least I am moving and getting back into the habit of going to the gym, even if it is only a couple of times a week to start.

I think that I make this plan way harder then it really is sometimes, after all, it is just about the easiest diet I have ever been on... eat your points, walk a bit, drink your water, and the weight comes off... pretty simple when I don't let myself get in the way of myself :dizzy:

PT today, ugh! Stands for physical therapy but anyone that has gone thru it knows the real meaning is "Pain and Torture" :D

Keep the faith turtles, spring will be here before we know it!

Have a happy day!

01-23-2008, 02:48 PM
Okay Princess,
You win! Thanks for sending such an encouraging message even though you're dealing with pain and torture. And thanks for reminding us--even though you were talking to yourself--that WW's is simple. It's true it may not always be easy, but the ideas are simple. Drink water, record what you eat, stay within your points, add movement to your day, and voila!!!!! you're doing it.

Cherry, we hear you're in a tough place right now. Have you thought of checking with your doc about your meds? Also, don't beat yourself up. Each day is a new day. I'm sending you a :grouphug:

Bandit, that Chicken Fiesta was awesome. As a matter of fact, I had to wrap up the rest of it and freeze it because I was afraid I'd eat the leftovers and that'll get me no place. So thanks for the recipe.

Hey guys--onward and downward for me. I lost .4# today. It's not what I wanted, but the scale is moving down. Now I have a big decision to make.
I think to shake things up I should go back on Core, but I have enjoyed the extra food items on Flex. I need to give this good thought, but for today I'm doing fine.

You all take care and be well. Chime in when you can.

Hi Judy - glad you liked the chicen & congrats on your loss this week.
Anything down is awesome.

Hang in there Princess & good for you for making the effort to go to gym.

Cherry - what is happening with you? You sound really down - can we help in anyway?

Is is soooooooooo cold up here - I went for walk at lunch & my eyes were tearing & freezing on my face. Felt good though when I got back.

Let's everyone try one thing different this week & see how that goes & keep us all posted!

01-24-2008, 09:08 AM
Morning all!

Oh my word! It is just too cold here for words! I am sure that Bandit is super cold up her way also... I will be glad to see spring this year :)

Judy: Great job! I am with Bandit, any thing lower then the previous W/I is a good thing! I was thinking about going to Core but I have a hard time knowing when I am "full/satisfied" so that might turn into a license to eat for me... I am staying with Flex for now. Good luck if you do change though, I know you have done it in the past.

Bandit: Any plans for the upcoming weekend? I know you and your family do lots of fun stuff all year round!

Cherry: I hope you are feeling better today?

I have a check up at the specialists office today, I am hoping for a good report. Anxious for W/I this Saturday, I hope that I do well. Last week when I went there the place was packed... I mean it was beyond standing room only so I only W/I and then left but I would like to start staying for the meetings so I guess I need to get there earlier...

Have a great day ladies!

01-25-2008, 08:06 AM
Morning all and happy friday! Super cold here again today but at least the wind has died down a bit.

No plans for the weekend really, just W/I Saturday morning and then some grocery shopping followed by a big round of house cleaning... Blah!

Got on the scale this morning and it is back up again, hmmm, I will keep at it though!

Went to the doctor yesterday, the three rounds of spinal injections is all they can do, if it gets worse then it is surgery... for now it is getting better though so I will just keep at it and pray for the best.

How is everyone else doing today?

Any plans for the weekend?

I will check back later on.

01-25-2008, 12:15 PM
Good morning, Turtles!

Princess - hoping you get better without surgery & good luck tomorrow at your w/i.

As far as weekend concerned, no plans other than regular shopping, cleaning & I will go to bingo with my mom either tonight or tomorrow. And staying warm - it has really been a cold week up here & calling for snow tomorrow.

Maybe make something in crockpot for tomorrow - don't know yet.

How's everyone else doing? Does anyone watch Biggest Loser?

Take care.

01-25-2008, 09:02 PM
Hi Turtles,
I'm sending :goodvibes: that your back starts its mending and you feel better.
I'm sure healing like this takes a while. Good luck at your WI. You've got your head in the right place.

Good to hear from you too. I have caught a couple of the Biggest Loser shows and find it awesome. Maybe I'll try and catch this season too.

Tomorrow my dh and I are hosting a mystery party. Family is coming in and we'll all be assigned parts to play. One of us will receive instructions that we're the "killer" and will be allowed to lie during the game to hide our deed.
Everyone else might have a motive to "kill" the victim, but we have to be honest and reveal all our clues throughout the game. At the end, we all try to figure out and name the killer. We've done this before, but not with this crowd, so we're hoping for a good time. I'll let you know how it goes. I've got myself protected with WW's style desserts and a healthy appetizer. I'll just have to go small servings on the dinner.

Everybody have a good weekend and I'll catch you all on Monday.

Morning all and happy Monday!

Quiet weekend for me... went to W/I on Saturday morning, thought I was down about a pound... but as it turns out I was up .2 which did not make me happy at all, not sure what happened but I spent Sunday making things for this weeks lunches and to have on hand for snacks so hopefully next weekend will be better.

Judy: Your party sounds like a blast! I would love to go to one of those!

Hope all is well with everyone... have a great day!

01-28-2008, 10:33 AM
Thanks ladies for the posts i appreciate your concern. Yes i have been having a tough time lately. I am on yet another medication and trying it out. This one takes a while to take effect but I think so far that i am doing ok. Sometimes i wish people could help but really it is a battle with myself. In a couple weeks hopefully i will be able to tell how effective my medecine is. I am trying Wellbutrin and it is also known to help some with cravings so we shall see.

Judy- Thanks for the hug i surely need it sometimes.

Bandit - Thanks so much for wanting to help me and be there for me it is
truely appreciated and nice to know that someone cares.

Princess - I hope that your back will continue to feel better and surgery
wont be needed.

01-28-2008, 12:37 PM
Morning, ladies:

I was up again this week .4# but I know why. Too many extra's and bigger portions on a few yummy things.

Back at it today & this week my goal is to weigh/measure & see if that helps.

Hope you all are doing well. Have a good Monday.

01-28-2008, 03:03 PM
You know what I love most about this group? We really are like the triumphant turtle who never gave up!!!!!

Here's :bravo: to all of us.
Cherry, hoping the new meds help you with your battles. :grouphug:

Princess, sorry about the scale, but you know you're on the right track and this week's WI will be better. Having those snacks and lunch foods ready will make your week so much easier. I keep coming back to the WW's idea of Pland and Prepare and to me that's still what is the most effective. Since I like so many foods, it is extremely easy for me to eat the wrong stuff if I don't have fruit in the house, etc. So onward and downward for us all!

Bandit, yep--those little things add up and then we get a scale reading we don't like. I like your idea of weighing and measuring. For sure this will kick in a nice weight loss.

I'm doing okay. This is the longest I've done as far as getting on the :tread: consistently and I think it's helping. I also have found a great very low point supper that you might like. I take a Thomas' Lite Multigrain Eng. Muffin, top it with about a tablespoon of parmesan cheese, and pour any of the Progresso, WW 0 point soups over it. The fiber helps fill me in. I figure the points are only 1-1.5 points for the whole shebang. I can finish my meal with a small apple and save a day where my points had run away (or to be truthful where I ran away with too many points). That gives me a 2-3point dinner and I've used it a couple of times with success. Hope this idea helps.
Just eating soup doesn't do it for me because I am hungry minutes later, but the high fiber bread helps a lot.

Okay, I'm going to start a new thread. See you on #193!
