Hi, all

We had a heavy thunderstorm coming over last night, but today is wonderful. There is a fair I'm going to look at and 'm going for a walk after this morning's packing session. What a wonderful day!

Hi, Jennifer, Boyfriend already did put stuff in the back of cars and he stored them at at friend's house, so that's a lot of stuff gone already. I've been busy packing some clothes we're not wearing anyway in this season (well, I found a way to be quick and handy, I just dump a lot of stuff in garbage bags, especially good for shoes and things that don't need ironing, then I write on the bag what's in it), and cooking.
What a dissappointment about the mold, aren't there any ways deal with that? even an arconditioning would work as it would dry out the air, or maybe the filtraton system Evangeline talked about.

Ilene, you ARE a great aunt, besides I love christenings too, way to go on the getting up early, I tried but couldn't, now the gym's closed, so I'm going for a loooong walk instead.

I have made 2 deals with boyfriend: as he hates going to a gym (I guess he feels threatened by our gym rats) but is prepared to try the weights at home, we're going to convert a space into a gym room. Of course, I get to choose the equipment. I realy hope it works.

Second, we had a conversation today and decided that if I could attain his weight (about 15 pounds away) he would stop smoking, which I loathe. So the bet's on. This gives me an extra kick and for him it's also good.

Ilene? Yes, I'm a registered practical nurse. I work in a small rural hospital (yikes!) Theoretically, I have a temporary full-time position but we've been almalgamated with 3 other hospitals and staffing is a nightmare. I long for my 2 or 3 days a week part-time but it's not really there anymore. So for now, I go day to day. And quite frankly, I'm pretty sure exercising regularly is helping me cope. I'm not usually a very 'together' person but I'm doin' all right, even tho' there's a black cloud hanging over our financial future.
And on that happy note ....
No, seriously, I feel good for having worked 7 nights out of 9 (that's not my old rotation or my new rotation). I'll walk today and I suppose it's back day but I might take 'on off' day instead.

It's only been 3 days and I'm getting really ansty to workout. Yesterday I went for a short hike with my step-father through a lovely arboretum where I hadn't been for years. We only went about 3 miles and fairly slowly, but I was much more tired than I expected. I was glad he talked my out of the 6 mile loop that I wanted to do. He's an avid mushroomer, so we poked along with lots of stops to explore the overabundance of fungi that this wet summer had produced. He nibbled some, and I kept waiting for him to turn blue and keel over. He's an avid weightlifter at age 70, thin as a rail due to post-polio syndrome, and eats like I do. A very easy visitor. Except for the fact that he researches every subject to death and wants exact answers, footnoted from scientific journals (he's a retired pure-research chemist from DuPont, currently in a research emeritus position on the University of Co.-Boulder faculty). I was exhausted looking up answers to all his questions on amino acid supplementation, medium chain triglycerides, etc. He's been doing a lot of his own personal research on nutrition and muscle loss in older people, and will send me those papers. I think I'm going to use that as my topic for my research paper for my new nutrition certification.

Today I attempted to clean up my seedy, weedy gardens. We've had an increibly wet summer and it looks like a jungle here! I also went looking for a new pair of running shoes but can't seem to find anything that feels good. I probably overdid it a bit in the garden because I'm really sore and swollen. Ugh. SOMEDAY my waistbands will fit again!

Mel -- I read an article today at cnn.com about a recent study of older adults and exercise that might fit in with your topic: http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/diet.....ap/index.html It says:

The Christening was very nice, her name is Macey Laine Brianna, and FAT, but just too cute for words, 3 months old... Food wise, we won't speak of that, K?

Meg -- that was a great article... Sure makes me happy I started 20 years ago and I'll enjoy all the benefits of a healthy lifestyle in my later years... It's also very reasuring to know that even if you've waited later , that exercising still gives you benefits...

Mel -- What an interesting man your step-father is... But take it easy girl! I'm glad he had the good sense to slow you down ...

Susan -- I work part time too, it's difficult for me to get into working more days when I'm so used to only my 3 mornings/week... This week another school called me in to work mon. and tues. full days! I know I'm a whine butt! But, but, but, working gets in the way of workint out !!

Lieke -- good for you on convincing your bf of arranging a weight room for the both of you... I wish our house was bigger to be able to do that. Our house is an older home and the basement is way to low, I barely stand up straight down there and I'm 5'3" ...

I was up at 5:30 like I had promissed myself and took DS to work for 6:30 and then jogged to the gym at 7:30 worked arms as promised, jogged back home afterwards... It was so nice and cool too, I loved it.... I may do that more often ...

That's it, that's all folks, sooo TTFN, and to everyone else I missed...
