Oh good job on your chinese dinner! That's where I would have my hardest time is staying away from the fried foods, because that's all that I love! I have been doing very good the past two days...yesterday I had a turkey sub and a handful of baked lays chips, a nectarine, some home-popped plain popcorn and a handful of pringles. Not too healthy, but at least smaller portions. We need to go grociery shopping so badly, but payday is still a few days away, so it's sort of stuff on the run for now...

Hi Autumn. I'm Kristy, almost 27 : ) with a 22 month old daughter. I started doing the South Beach Diet 3 weeks ago and I feel great! I always used to come home and just start eating and not stop. Now, I have stopped having cravings and am rarely ever hungry. One of my big problems with dieting is boredom but I have so many choices now that I just have to stop myself from cooking, and I used to HATE cooking!
It really helps that my husband is doing this along with me.

Good luck to you and congrats for making the decision to get healthier for your and your families sake.

Hi Autumn!

I'm Courtney, 22 years old, 5'3" and 180 lbs. I want to take off about 40 lbs and I've made a Plan for myself to become a healthier eater and a more active person.

Diets never work for me because I feel too deprived, so I am trying to make better choices when I eat. I work in the Produce section of a local grocery store right now, and that's been fantastic in helping me learn about all the veggies and fruits we carry. I am more adventurous in my healthy eating now because of working there - I never would have picked up a mango or a starfruit or endive before!

I am involved in horses and dressage riding, but I am trying to do more to boost my activity level. I wear a pedometer and try to take 10,000 steps each day, I've started taking bike rides near my house, and I am looking into joining a local gym or rec center soon too. My fitness is decent and I am quite muscular and solid from the riding, but I am capable of being much more fit. The weight loss would also benefit my poor horse too!

Good luck with your own weight loss, and feel free to email me anytime.

Thank you for the congrats! Needed that...lol* Love the job, it's nothin' fancy, just a little part-time job, but it made me feel so good to be asked to be a manager after three weeks.

I agree with you that if I'm meant to go to Tops, God will help me. I really want to go, just a matter of scheduling at the moment. *crosses fingers*

Thanks so much for your support, and never hesitate to hollar if you need some help or motivation! Sounds like you're doing wonderful, keep up the good work!

Hola there Kirsty...oh my daughter is about the same age as yours! What month is her birthday? My daughter's is May 11th...

My parents are on the south beach diet and they absolutely love it! My mother has gone from a size 18 to a 14 in the past six months on it. I hear though that it can be a little expensive, mainly the reason I've avoided it...do you agree? Or are you able to do the diet in an affordable way? I'm poor right now! lol*

That's awsome too that your husband has joined in your diet with you. That is a huge problem for us right now, my husband is a super picky eater and i'm dieting...plus i work evenings so we eat out a lot because we aren't able to eat dinner all together. Really my own lack of self-discipline I guess there...

Good luck to you as well, hope to hear from you soon!

Hola there Courtney, I always liked that name. Even considered naming one of my future daughters that!
Sounds like we are similar height and weight, though you're a bit less than me. What is your plan to lose?
I am pretty much the opposite, not so active. Although I'm really trying to change that. I used to have a sit down job and sit all day long, come home, eat dinner, then watch tv until we fell asleep. Now I work evenings part-time, and stay home with my two-year old daughter. We take a 1/2 hour walk almost every day, and do our Denise Austin video five days a week. I've cut down my portions, and we out out tons less. I've lost two-pounds, and have been on my diet around three weeks, but only really serious for the past two weeks or so.
That's so great you're into horses...I was for a short while when I was in high school...I had a group of friends who'm all had horses and I used to visit them a lot and they taught me to ride a very little bit...mostly I'd put on boots and hats and dance around to country music in the barns...hahaha lol* Can you tell I live in the city? Lol*
Oh I also have a stepometer, I haven't been wearing it, but would like to do what you've mentioned, the 10,000 steps. I'd like to know how it goes for you!
Good luck to you too, and hope to hear from you soon!

Hey Autumn how are you doing? Seems like a while since we 'spoke". We just got back from Market at Dallas. Spent a lot of money but ordered a lot of beautiful things. Our sales rep took us to a nice resturant called Poppadeaux, well I had the seafood platter and I ate 3 fried shrimp and the fish, a small part of the stuffed crab and some of the stuffed shrimp, but left the fries, oysters ( I don't like them ) and I was happy that I was able to do that, then I had chocolate mousse for dessert, well let me put it this way, we are supposed to go back in September and if we go back to that resturant I will totally skip the meal and just order the mousse, it was TO DIE FOR!!! but I ate only about 3/4 of it, so I am really proud of myself for leaving food behing, that's a first. Anyway how are you? DId you ever make your way to a TOPS meeting, looking forward on you catching me up on your life. God Bless.

Talking Autumn

Hi Autumn! My parents named me after a Miss America winner from the 80's, and I LOVE my name.

I have a detailed plan that I am following for myself, something I customized from another person a while ago and just haven't felt able to tackle until now. Basically it entails eating better and exercising more. It's posted in my journal on the site here under the same name (equestrienne).

The stepometer has been very motivational for me, just getting me to be more active and be aware of how much I am moving every day. My goal is for 10,000 steps a day beyond any regular exercise, so if I want to go riding my bike or riding my horse I take it off.

I have trouble sticking with things when it comes to weight loss and I joined the site to see if the extra support would help. Doing well so far!

Wow happy July first! This summer is flying by...pretty soon it will buy August and September...wow. I had better get my but it gear!

praytherosary822 - It sounds like you had a great time on your trip! Oh mousse sounds sooo good.....oh, yum! Congrats on your self control too, I know that is so hard for me. I have a horrible time with portions...especially when eating out, I always want to try everything!

equetrienne - I checked out your plan...wholly cow girlie! I'm embarassed that I don't have it so together! My goals are similar though...I went out and bought a dress and a few other items in a size 10. Right now I wear a 16, and my goal is to be in the smaller clothes by December. I eventually would really love to get down to a size 8, but for now, I can live with a 10! That's still pretty small! You've also totally motivated me with the stepometer...I have one I got from McD's and I think I'll follow your idea about the 10,000 steps in addition to excersise. I think that's a really good idea. I have a really hard time too sticking with it, but am really determined now. I feel more confident in myself when I'm thin, and I've really become aware of how insecure I've become due to my weight. So good luck and I'll have to make sure to stop at look at your journal now & then for tips!

i have something else...
get some poster board and find a magazine or two...cut out pictures of all skinny people...paste them on the poster board...put the poster board on your cabinet and everytime you go to open it for a snack look at the poster.

Hola girlie...that's a really good idea with putting cut-outs in the cabinet...I think I'll do that! Also, good job on going from 132 to 114! That's awsome!

I've been doing really good lately on my diet, really watching what I eat and watching my portions. I weighed myself yesterday at my parents house, and I lost another pound...which totals three so far since I began eating healthy and dieting. Not a lot, but it's some! A motivating little three pounds, let me tell you! I did finally buy a scale too, but I bought one of those inexpensive $5.97 ones from Wal-Mart...and it gives me a much better weight than my parents digital scale. It says I'm at 181 but my parents says I'm at 186. I've noticed that the old kind aren't really acurate.

Well, got to head off to work. Catch ya later...
