For those of you who do this - is it useful to get some help from a personal trainer for form? Or are they going to bash the program and want to do their own program?

I'm reading NWFL for Women now, (nearly finished), but will do the program (after reading it too) NRFL for Life. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the exercises... and thinking, "it's going to take me two hours to get this workout done with so much equipment!" Or am I wrong in thinking that?

I suggest watching videos of the exercises on youtube, then maybe practicing the movements at home (that's what I've done for dead lifts, with a broom stick lol). From what I've read on the NROL forums, the first program in NROLFW takes about 30 minutes.

It takes me longer the first time I do a set of exercises, but it gets much easier once I figure out the exercise. It sounds like a good idea to practice things at home like the deadlift, though I did ask one of the other lifters at my gym for help with that one. I would still suggest scheduling extra time the first time or two with a set of exercises, though, as you may have to modify based on available equipment at your gym. I do 3 sets of each rather than 2, and do a short cardio warm-up and cool-down, and it usually takes me an hour after I learn the exercises.

I started stage 1 today and I'll be working out 3 days a week with nrol, 3 days of c25k(I'm currently on week 6) and I have 10 more days of shred left. Here's for a nice month of work outs and eating healthy

Super slow thread, but wanted to post that I started Phase 3 yesterday! Still really enjoying it. Still getting sore. And I now possess both guns and pretty solid thigh muscles. Still working on unearthing them muscle from the layers of fat, but this program is helping there too. 50 pounds down since the beginning of June, and wearing smaller clothes than I expected at this weight. :-) Yay, heavy lifting!

I started NROL in October and was about a month into the program when I went on a cruise. I just got back yesterday and I'm ready to hit it again. I don't think this is a super active thread but I will post on here in hopes that others will chime in. My goal is to lose 2lbs a week so we will see what happens. I don't even know if that is possible on this program. I've read that I should look to gain a few pounds first.

LaurieDawn, not sure if you still check this thread, but I couldn't finish Stage 3. Workout B was sooooo boring. It drove me crazy.

So yeah, I made it halfway through Stage 3 and then I got sick for a week, then I hurt my back, then I got sick again... and finally I went on vacation. Since being back from vacation I've been watching my food mostly. I just started working out again this week by just doing some Wii Just Dance. I needed something to get my heart rate up that's fun.

I lost a ton of inches during Stage 1, and a fair amount during Stage 2 but barely lost any actual weight. But that's fine with me, the goal is to look smaller and not the number itself right?

Monday or Tuesday I'm going to start Stage 1 again and get back to it. I'm going to keep up the Just Dance in between stages. I say 'or Tuesday' because I have a driving test Monday and will be out for a few hours. Won't workout before and I doubt I will after if I fail (man, I'll be upset if I fail!)

I have finished NRLW and am now looking for a new wieght lifting program to start. I find if I have a program to follow, I do much better. Does anyone have any suggestions, should I follow up with NRL for life?

It's nice to see this thread is still going. I finished the women's program back in April and made awesome progress. I'm currently doing the abs program (at the mid-point) and absolutely love it!! Maybe I'll start a thread for the abs one...

Great progress everyone!!

I just went out and bought "The New Rules of Lifting for Life" and plan to do that next month when I finish up the abs book. I've been reading it and like what I see so far. Is anyone thinking of doing this program??

Can any of you ladies help me out with the first workout? I have the book but I can't find it. Hubby and I planned on starting tonight. Can anyone give me the exercises and reps? It'd be a huge help TIA.
