There's "want" and there's "want".

If I really want something, I am not gonna restrict myself. But I first talk it over with myself in my head. Considering the consequences of eating certain foods and the way it will slow down my weightloss and make me go crave more bad stuff. In the end I usually don't want it anymore. When I do want it after that, I have it.

It's not like you are a kid that gets told by a parent that you cant have or do something. It's always your own choice, so to say that you are sad because you made a choice is kinda silly to me. You can do as you like. But you find something else more important than the temporary lovely taste of some 'bad' food. I say YAY for sticking with your decision. And NAY for getting sad over it :P

You shouldn't be restricting yourself. If you want pizza, eat a slice. Just don't overdo it. You just need to make yourself stop before you over do it. Lifestyle, not diet....

Haha there is this amazing pizza place near my house. Brick oven pizza...sooo yummy. I usually fill up on salad and have a slice. Gets rid of my craving.

I work at a winery on the weekends, and since I can't leave the shop, my boyfriend and I have made a ritual out of us eating lunch together here. Since I started trying to change my diet, I usually just pack myself a lunch, and he'll run out and grab himself something to bring by to eat.

Today it was a veggie calzone from one of my favorite places to eat in town. I was about to die. I was munching on a whole wheat pb & j (sounded really good this morning for some reason), and he brings this thing in. Haha. I finished first and just unconciously stared at him eating until he finally asked me if I wanted some. I took a little bite, and while that didn't really fix the craving for me completely, it worked.

It was weird, but I remember thinking as he took the last bite, "Well there it goes." And for some reason, that thought was pretty comforting. That is, the thought of just how insanely temporary food is. My body is not temporary, but that craving was, and that calzone, while it tasted awesome, would have only really been any happiness to me for those twenty minutes it would have taken me to eat it.

I think sometimes it's worth it to just go ahead and have that pizza, but I think sometimes we have to look at the value of food for what it really is.

Usually I'll look at something and wish I could have it, but it doesn't bother me. I know that if I'll eat it I'll get sick, so it's not completely worth it. If you really wanted that pizza, there would have been nothing wrong with having a slice, or even just asking for one bite!! It's better to have something in moderation rather than completely eliminate it because you're bound to go nuts over it at some point because of the deprivation.

Like others mentioned, if you want it, have it.
You shouldn't have to completely deprive yourself of something because you think a few ounces would harm your entire day. Just don't overdo it.

I can see your point, and kudos if this works for you.
But I couldn't.
Even with a healthier lifestyle now, I could never hold someone accountable for what they're able to consume versus mine.

For example: I held a candle party yesterday. I had a large variety of appetizers for those eating healthy and those that don't. Not everyone is doing this journey along with me and I can't expect them to eat what I would.
