Welcome. In my opinion I didn't get fat by eating intuitively I got fat by just eating past the natural point when my body said I was satisfied, eating just to eat, eating when bored, eating because others offered to me and i was being polite, eating because you weren't gonna eat for a while...eating for alot of other reasons than I was were hungry.
The easiest way to do intuitive eating...is ask yourself are you hungry? period...if you're eating for any other reason it isn't intuitive eating.
I am on mostly low cab diet. I don't count I just stick to the foods Im allowed and for the most part avoid what I don't want to eat. There are exceptions. I was out shopping, knew I wasn't going to have time to get home and cook. So here is how the conversation went
Am I hungry? yes
On a scale of 1-10 how hungry am I? 7 (I hadn't eaten since yesterday afternoon). I didn't go to bed hungry...I didn't feel like eating so I didn't. I also am a person who eats earlier in the day and light at night.
Can you wait till about noon which would be my next opportunity to eat since I didn't have anything ready in the house. NO
What do you want to eat. I had been wanting something sweet since the day before, but I like to give cravings like that a while to process and see if I really want it. I want something sweet.
I no long rush into them and assume I have to have them. The food isn't going anywhere. If I still keep thinking about it I have a moderate amount. The caveat to this is I don't keep sweets in my house. I only have so much will power
I had a danish. Normally I would have had two. I had one...ate it slowly with a bottle of water. I know it will keep me satisfied and I won't binge on something from having to wait. Since I had the danish I won't allow anymore high carb foods for the rest of the day. (will be meat and salad the rest of the day which I'm completely ok with)
Something else. I think with IE or anything else its a process and you have to do what works for you. I don't think I could do IE alone and lose weight, but with my own kinda modified diet plan it works.
I also hate counting ...it annoys me and to me this is a life style change and I'm not interested in forever counting everything I eat.

After all, intuitive eating is what made me gain the weight... but I don't like counting calories either and I don't think it will help me keep the weight off if I need to stick to a plan forever.
I like the idea of only eating food that you really like, except that I don't think that would help me eat less, because I always keep good food in my fridge. I also don't get hungry all that easily, and by the time I notice any physical hunger I'm already ravenous and end up overeating. Any advice?
