[Though I started Phase 2 last week I've still been kind of hesitant about adding foods back into my diet. I've had cereal 1 day, wheat spaghetti, a pear, and a banana.
Well today I felt adventurous. So I had an apple in addition to my wheat wrap & let me tell you that I don't remember apples tasting so good! Wow! The sweetness was unbelievable. Anyone else experience this? Or did I really just have a great apple?
It was almost exactly 4 years ago that I had my first Phase 2 apple, best apple ever! The great thing is your tastes really will change with this lifestyle. It's not that I never want baked stuff or candy but fruit just tastes amazing now.
Hehe, sounds wonderful. I remember biting into a slice of tomato after about a year of eating tomatoes that were completely tasteless and probably thawed from frozen after a long shipping time. It was a revelation!
How are you deciding what foods to add back in and the timing of the reintroduced foods? I'm now on Phase 1.5 and have decided to add fruits back into my diet (apart from ones like tomatoes, but hey, only complete party poopers would consider a tomato to be a fruit fruit) and have just been having some strawberries in the evenings. Delicious, in season, strawberries from our local farmer's market which were even dipped in a little no sugar added dark chocolate one night.
I'm a little scared of adding in carbs actually, they are definitely something I can overeat...and eat...and eat.
I have added back various berries and apples, some grapes and plain sweet potatoes. I'm nervous about bread and pasta. I've avoided pineapple and watermelon, too. It feels so good to have my blood sugar under control, I'm afraid to try the others.
