but what do you eat before or after running a 5k.
I learned yesterday that I probably don't know the answer to this after running my first...
Every body is different. I prefer an empty stomach. Since the runs are usually early morning that works for me. I keep very well hydrated the day before and eat normally and make sure not to eat too late that night before. For more than 5K I might do a half banana or 1/4 whole wheat bagel. Afterwards I hydrate slowly but well and when completely cooled down have a balanced reasonable meal.

I think that I may have had a little too much water the morning of, I didn't run until 2. I was sick to my stomach by about the second mile.
