Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: staying motivated!
Following any specific plan: Just my own - no liquid calories, low carb, no meat other than fish
What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I flipped my switch from "want" to "will" - and it's working!
Anything else you would like to share with us: I started this year at 183 - size 14. Felt really horrible, hated getting dressed every morning because everything either didn't fit or if it did, looked horrible. Finally after the first three months, I decided I needed to make some significant changes in my life - Not only was my weight bothering me from a self-esteem standpoint, but also I knew it wasn't good for my health - my stomach was so big, I literally feared that someone might ask me if I was pregnant. So on Monday April 2nd, I decided to exercise 5 times a week (even if only walking), give up all liquid calories (including all alcohol), and stick to fish, veggies and fruit. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months! :-) I have 21 more to go - we just got back from a family vacation and I was completely motivated up until that point - I knew I was going to see my Mom, and wanted to be 30 pounds down - and I was!! On vacation, I continued exercising and eating well, but Mom and I would drink wine in the evenings. I still lost weight while I was there, and really don't criticize myself for having enjoyed those liquid doughnuts with her!
But now we are back, and I'm not sure why, but I don't feel the same sense of commitment. Maybe it's because of the fact that the vacation was my motivating force, and now I'm back to the day-to-day...I underestimated how much of a motivating force it was for me.
I know I need to lose at least 20 more pounds. I also know I feel better living this lifestyle. I think it's the fact that I'm choosing not to drink wine at the moment to accelerate the weight loss - that's really the only thing I will re-introduce when I'm in "maintenance mode" - - and of course then only in moderation on the weekends. Also perhaps some more whole grains (I'm not touching pasta, potatoes, bread and rice of ANY kind)...but I really don't miss the grains.
At any rate, it's Friday night, and I've been drinking unsweetened iced tea and fresh lemonade made with Truvia. :-) I'm back on track, and I'm looking forward to participating in this forum to stay there and not derail!
