i think that's a good example of having had weight issues making you oversensitive to any mention of food or health. from your stats you're at/past goal, the guy was just making small talk, or admiring your lovely lunch. i say some astoundingly banal things to people in the office for the sake of trying to be friendly.

It is so unfair how comments from strangers can have such an effect. Over 30 years ago I was shopping for jeans. The older lady sales clerk asked me what size, I said - well, these that I have on are size (cant remember) and they are a bit loose on me- she said "good for you". I drew a complete blank, then I realized she thought I was dieting, which I was not ,cause Until that moment I didnt think about my weight. I was mortified, and have never forgotten that feeling. I think I was maybe 10 pounds overweight at the time.I was so very shy when I was young, and I can not beleive how her comment is still with me today. Even though I realize she thought that she was being supportive.

Wow what a B***** and you said she was some kind of supervisor? The assistant? It is too bad you didn't throw it back in her face though. Be like I lost 70 pounds already why don't you concentrate on your own weight and not others. Yeah...but then you'd be lowering yourself to her level. I can understand why'd you be so angry and I'd never have the gumtion to say anything back either. This girl when that used to live in my complex back when I was in HS used to make fun of me all the time. Say I was a fat A** blah blah and I was like 225 then I'm 264 now and she is bigger than what I am today and she would always say mean things about my size when she was bigger than me and the way she dressed didn't look good but I'm thinking wtf look in the mirror. Like everyone else said it comes down to self esteem. She is insecure and feels bad about herself so she lashes out on others.

haha...I was getting a quick meal for lunch one day last week and I opted for these weird veggies (had some awful sauce on it) and this mushroom sandwich thing. Not ideal, but a quick lunch that was at least not too unhealthy. Well the lady behind the counter goes "Oh, is this a new years resolution?" and then "eating healthy...weight" and trailed off as she looked me up and down. The thing is she had this odd look on her face because I literally started laughing because of this thread! lol

I've never had anyone make a comment like that to me before in that way. haha...

So, I said to her "no I just like veggies and find meat disgusting" and she sort of smiled and said "you never eat meat?" and I went "no" and left it at that lol. Of course I'm cracking up the entire time so she probably thought i was insane. haha, that is a way to handle it!
