bea- I've take the full time plus credits before, and severely regretted it. Can you drop a few classes? To me, it's not worth it to shave off a few months of school, and it doesn't make you look superhuman- it looks much better on your transcript if you're working hard but not overworking.

Namaste: I hope they got things back in order. It stinks you go back to where you started and it's all because of medications. It just doesn't seem fair. Is there anything you can take to prevent the October cold?

Katbot: Your wedding is going to be like the best fairy tale ball ever! Everything is just.. dreamy!

Fattitude: Have fun this weekend!!!

Hotaruchan: So, I have just realized that I have spelled your user name wrong every single time I've typed it. Hope you're doing well! lol

Kelly315:I dropped 6 credits yesterday. I just kind of feel like I'm failing even though I know I was spreading myself too thin. Maybe now I can get a little job or volunteer if I have the time. But for now I have Tuesdays and Thursdays off and after my 12hour day on campus on Wednesdays I am going to need it! But so far so good. I dropped yesterday cleaned my room and got my life together.

KatieKish: I received the BreakUp Buddy book yesterday. I'm going to start reading it tonight!!
--------------
Other than that. Yesterday to relieve stress I reverted back to the old habit of bindging. It wasn't bad. Just a couple extra cookies at lunch time and a huge portion for dinner. Nothing like bingding used to be but still something I shouldn't do. That, taking a day off of the gym yesterday and an extreamly early TOM made me go up a pound. Which isn't terrible.

Now I have the biggest praise ever!!!!!!

YAZ- It has given me my life back. I started my period yesterday. I had no idea!!! I had ZERO mood swings in the last 2 weeks and normally I am like a pregnant woman going through menopause. I am so incredibly clear headed. Maybe, it's cause I got rid of the boy. Cause, I KNOW that is def. helping but YAZ, I could write it a poem I am so happy with it. The only signs the my TOM was going to start was the 2 pimples I get a week before. But I didn't realize it at the time. SO SO SO SO SO happy!

Fatitude and namaste: I envy your awesomeness. I have no doubt in my mind that I could do the swimming and biking parts of a triathlon, but the running would kill me.

Katbot: It's awesome that wedding planning seems to be coming along so well! Also, that tux is snazzy and a half...I love the dress too, but I'd never be able to pull it off. I'm sure you'll manage to rock it though...looking at the photos you posted in the picture post thread, you have much nicer proportions than I do.

I've kinda cut through Asakusa without really stopping...unfortunately I've gone to Tokyo mostly during holidays, so everything's doubly packed then.

Bea: Glad that you made a decision that should leave you less stressed for the semester. I'm notorious for overworking myself at school...I usually did 17-18 credits per semester with my high being 23 and my low being 15. Add to that the fact that I had marching band 6 days a week, ESOL tutoring, and a crazy person major where we were expected to do 3-4 hours of work outside of class per hour spent in class and...well, I'm not exactly what you'd call sane. If I'd tried dieting on top of all of that I'm sure that I would have jumped off the top of our absurd library (27 stories and the engineers who designed it forgot to account for the weight of the books, so it sinks a little every year ). Good for you for balancing your workload and your health (physical and mental).

Birth control did wonders for me too...I went from periods that lasted months to ones that lasted a week or two and at least happened within a few weeks of the same time-ish, and now recently I've been having 3-5 day ones that fall nicely in the little white line like they're supposed to. I still break out before TOM, but not nearly as much as I did before and if I get cramps, they generally last for a day rather than a week now. I started on YAZ, but that was before they put out all of the warnings on it, so when they did the first recall my gynecologist switched me to something that the FDA seemed to think was a little safer (not to mention cheaper).

---
First week back at school for the semester and I only actually taught 2 days...bleh. Feeling much better, but also dead tired. The kids were super excited for English, so even my hellion 6th years behaved nicely for me. The 2nd years, seeing me in the halls the day prior to their scheduled lesson, followed me around squeaking excitedly about how they had English on Friday. One little girl very solemnly told me (in the most formal language I've ever heard come out of a 7 year old's mouth) that she was very much looking forward to class then thanked me for putting forth the effort to prepare lessons. I was pretty floored by that.

I was supposed to go to a JET organized event tonight to try to meet other ALTs in the area, but the local train station and Google apparently don't exactly see eye to eye...I looked up the times before school this morning because I get out around 3:30 most days and the event was supposed to start at 5:00 a 45 minute train ride away, leaving very little room for error. Google told me that the train was supposed to leave 17 minutes after it actually did, meaning that even though I ran to the station after dropping my school stuff back at home, I got there 2 minutes after the train had pulled away. As the station only gets about 1 train per hour, it wasn't worth it to try to catch the next one at that point since the even was only 4 hours long...so I went to dinner then rode my bike around angrily for a few hours. Sitting at home in the A/C now waiting for my guy to come online during his lunch break.

...and holy crap, I just wrote a book. Feel free to ignore me when I ramble like this.

Fattitude: colors are black, white, gold and silver. The room has gold accents and they informed us that in December they put in a Christmas tree, which works for me because I want to use Christmas ornaments in the centerpieces. I'm taking my bridesmaids to a normal cocktail dress store and tellin them to choose something in one of my colors that they will wear again - something new years-y.

Bea: You're too sweet a lot of it comes from the fact that my fiancÚ is as excited to plan this thing as I am, so it's two people discussing every detail almost every hour of the day!

H-chan: you don't give yourself enough credit, I've seen your pics and you're cute as a button! And there's nothing wrong with your figure either. I'd give up my amazon-like, unnaturally tall body any day to be petite and cute anyway! Petite girls can be cute, sexy, fun and adorable. The best us tall girls can hope for is imposing or statuesque.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm up a pound today I suspect my staff meal at booster juice, I always get err....gassy after eating there. From now on I vow no more eating squat from BJ! I will take a nice little salad with me instead for when I get hungry.

bea - awesome! i hope you get as much out of it as i did! (just ignore the part where it tells you to make the brownies, they're good but not worth the calores ) Also - glad to hear you're liking yaz! Sounds like its regulating you and working well.

Hotaruchan - bummer about your plans not working out... i find google to be a bit iffy outside of north america. the kids sound sweet, though!

Katbot - your dress is gooorgeous! and i love the shoes... Hopefully you're not too discouraged by your 1 lb, just stick to the salads

I'm super excited... because my fiance comes home today from China. We've only spend 2 weeks together since the middle of May... I haven't seen him in well over a month, this is a LONG needed reunion.

Hot: Is your library the library that they talk about in How I Met Your Mother? The only reason I questioned myself is that I know that I am capable but I think I would kill something by finals and my birthday is the week after finals so I will not be in prison on my birthday.
Yaz is expensive. This is the way my gyno explained it to me. Paraphrasing because I didn't retain all the info and I don't speak Dr. You are 50% more likely to have the blood clots and other bad things happen when you pregnant than on Yaz. Either way, I couldn't live the way I was living. This had been happening for the last 12 and for 2 to 3 weeks of the month I was insane. I was hardly functioning I couldn't even complete a thought. All of the bad things are worth the risk until they find something better. Does yours have the mood effects like Yaz?

If 6th years transfers to 6th graders. They are the freaking worst. That stinks about not getting to go to your event. But good that you get to talk to your guy.

Katbot: Are you having a New Years wedding? That's great that he's interested. I was a moh a few years back and my best friend's husband just wasn't into and she pretty much pushed him to be and there was more drama than excitement. Between that one and the one I was in this past summer, Vegas is sounding like the place.
-------------

How tall are you? lol but I totally agree on the petite thing. One of my grandmother's was 6foot and the other 5foot. Both with ridiculous amounts on junk EVERYWHERE. I got both of their boobs put together, the tall one's legs and the short one's shoulders. Luckily I averaged out on height at 5foot7.
I've never been to a BoosterJuice but it sounds like they would have healthy type things or is it just a lie?

KatieKish: Yes it is!! And I will def. ignore the brownies. But I kind of have a craving. Darn TOM! Oh my gosh! I thought I had read a few days ago that you go to see him!! I'm glad you get to see him!! Have fun!!!

So I got on OKCupid the other day. I'm talking to this guy from my hometown. He sounds great. he's really nice and sounds gentlemanly.. The problem is mine. He works at the steel mill of the town. And his family is from the area. I want to leave this place. I feel like even talking to him is going to jeopardize that. I feel like I sound like a snob and I should give him a chance. He said he could one day leave. But it's like he said could not the answer I was looking for. The I'm leaving as soon as I graduate. blah.
A good finish to the week though! I had a great day at school and I'm loving it now that I feel like I can breathe!!!
I think the long posts are a trend today!
Hope everyone's weekend is great!!!!

Hey guys,

Well, I had the vicarious health scare I needed to scare me into gear. My mum is slowly wearing out the joints in her hips because of excess weight rubbing away at her hip. She says she thinks she may need a hip replacement. She is not even 60 yet. WTH???

And there are a couple of things that really get me: A) She is only 10-20 lbs heavier than I am. The difference between her and me is that I do a lot of exercise, sometimes 6-7 days a week. B) She flat-out refuses to do anything about it but say she is going to do something about it and then eat more food.

I am sad, mad, sorry for her, frustrated. A lot of things. Unfortunately, I have learned I can't fix my mom. I have tried to help her in any way I can and she refuses to budge. This is in a lot of things besides weight, my mom is crazy in many, many ways. *lesigh*

Fortunately, though, I realize that I can do something about my own life. I have decided to crack down and get serious about my veganism, for one thing. I have been an on-again, off-again vegetarian and vegan since I graduated from college (first time) and I know by doing that I can protect my body. And me exercising, yeah, so on that. And also with my dates with my boyfriend, we'll focus on active things, not eating and stationary things.

*sigh* Sorry to unburden on you guys, but I've had enough, of me and of her. I'm ready to change and change for good.

I'll get to personals when I can. I'm about to go out and exercise. Have a great day/evening/what have you.

I know the feeling, namaste. My mom has been waiting on a knee replacement for several years and only just managed to actually get it done this year because the doctors didn't want to do it before she was 60 and have it wear out on her. I've already got my lovely hypothyroidism from her...I'd prefer to nip things in the bud as much as possible so that I don't end up eating a whole fistful of pills every morning and night like she and my father do every day...I don't think that I was ever within 40 lbs of my mother's weight, but she's also been contending with arthritis since she was 19 years old. Hopefully I pushed that off at least a little while by being so active my whole life and doing lots of things with my hands that required fine motor skills (not that it kept me from getting fat).

Bea: I half-met my guy on okcupid...I say half-met because I wrote where I was working and he sent me a message asking if it would be all right to talk to me in person at work because he also worked there and saw that we had a lot in common from looking at my profile. I wouldn't worry too much about the guy working in your hometown...you said that you still have a while on your degree, and you might end up missing a good opportunity if you're too concerned with living in the future rather than the present. If all else fails, you make a friend and your family is overjoyed that you have one more excuse to come home and visit once you get the F out of your podunk little town. (I know the feeling there too...my hometown is a little middle of nowhere type of place filled with rednecks and country music...I got out as soon as I could )

Namaste: I can understand. My dad is on the track to a knee replacement and he's only 44. Though it's not all because of weight. In his 20's he thought he was a sports star. He played a LOT sports and being my father, he isn't as coordinated on his feet as the average person. He was limping a lot. And it has caught up with him. Though he has had weight issues off and on at this point it's because he hurts too much to exercise. Do you think that replacement would scare her into getting started?
And good for you for realizing that you can't fix her if she doesn't want it fixed. but you can prevent it for yourself!!

Hotaruchan: I'm realizing this. We have too much in common to not just try it at least. And it's not like he said he wants to stay in Franklin forever. Lol. I have another weird reason not to want to date someone from my area. My grandma had my father when she was 16. His birthfather ran off and although my father was successful in finding him. The phone call was never returned. So, if the f-head has any kids or grandkids. I don't know who they are and the idea of dating a cousin makes me cringe.

Heh...always the problem in small towns...My family moved to my "hometown" when I was 2 from half the state away, but middle school was interesting because most of the town is related...so kids would write out big complicated charts trying to figure out whether their crush was also their cousin.

Hello everyone!
I am thrilled beyond belief to have a 3 day weekend!! Went to the grocery store today to get a few things. Had a hard time focusing on anything else except chicken and stuff for smoothies. Hm....so most likely I'll have to make another trip soon. Haha

But I found this awesome idea on pinterest that I'm working on now!
-blend fresh spinach and a little water. Put into ice cube trays and freeze
-buy a big container of plain yogurt and put into ice cub trays (or mini muffin pans) and freeze.
-once that's all done, you can make individually portioned bags of frozen fruit, yogurt, and spinach to toss into your blender. Seems much easier to grab one bag vs a mix of fruit bags plus yogurt plus spinach all to make a smoothie.

I'm also planning on freezing ice cubes of 100% cranberry juice so that I can add a couple of cubes to my water and have water that's a teeny bit flavored.

...no idea what else I'm doing this weekend. Exercising. Watching TV. Homework.

Man I feel like every week is crazy! After the skin, allergies, medication issues I had to go to the dentist as well, unfortunately I have a high maintenance mouth which means hygienist every 6 months and a ton of products. My morning and night routine is getting a bit crazy! With the medicated shower gel and shampoo, antihistamine pill, antihistamine eye drops, 2 creams and now brushing teeth with specialised tooth paste, flossing with special floss, mouth wash with special mouth wash, brushing with special brush for the bar left behind from my braces, and mineral paste application! Its a miracle I get out of here in the mornings! Yesterday after the dentist I was feeling a bit sorry for myself so treated myself to some bodum tea cups and chocolate mint tea <3 Weight is up and down, I have no idea whats going on. Eat 1200 calories, gain 500g. Eat movie popcorn, japenese dinner with fried starters, finish with movenpick- lose 500g. WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Anyways, it is spring here now officially, so along with being extra diligent about antihistamines, I am looking forward to some warmer, ligher weather

bea- thanks for the congrats! Planning is going well. Got the venue, photographers, videographers, dress, bridesmaids dresses, groom and groomsmen outfits, celebrant, some of the music, cars, rings, hair/makeup and cake all sorted. We sent our invitation order off last night, which is super exciting! I think all thats left now are the decorations, bride and bridesmaid shoes, flowergirl outfit...I cant think of what else is left! Oh a registry, planning the day out and talking to our florist. And booking our honeymoon! We already know where we want to go and what package we are getting, just waiting on relatives to send the dates that they are coming so we dont miss them before we book. So I have not turned into a bridezilla yet xD Also, congrats on being near 20lb! Did you make a decision about your study yet? For me, I didnt really worry about how long it would take me to finish my studies, I focused on what I wanted to do when I left and what I enjoyed doing. Mind you, I was in a happy position being financially supported by many people. And I did end up staying for 7 years!

Ballerina- how was the hurricane? It looked pretty bad on the news here

hotaru- that sounds horrible about your reaction to doxycyclene! I would be so pissed off too. My reaction to the medication made my skin so bad, it was worse last week than it was BEFORE I went to the specialist! I was feeling so sorry for myself. Getting all infected and stuff. But it is beginning to clear up now The people that you are working with sound so nice! Even if tokyo sucked, at least you were in good hands

katbot- wow you sound super busy! Its at times like this I'm glad neither me or my fiance are religious lol! But your church looks amazing! One thing I wanted for my wedding but cant figure out how to get are church bells. I always remember as a kid we would walk past this church and the bells would be ringing when there was a wedding there. What is your date? Is it Dec 31st? Man you must have been lucky to get that date! Places here all book out so fast. We booked in June...2011! I love the grooms shoes! And the maggie sottero! I tried on so many maggie's, not cheap but so gorgeous. I am confident you will look amazing in it

Tree bee- congrats!

Kendal- arg getting stuck is frustrating! Stick with it, did you figure anything out yet?

Fattitude- oh oh, sounds like there are a few bugs going around in this forum! you can all stay on the other side of the world from me :P Hope you are feeling better As for the weigh in, sometimes things just dont make sense, I swear. I think keep up with what you are doing and if it is still going up next week, then review it?

namaste- that is sad news about your mum But your exercise, especially if you are doing weightlifting, will probably be really protective of you against similar problems, even if you are close to her weight. Plus you have some more time on your side
