Well, guys, we are recovering from DS's birthday party. Yes, I had a piece of cake and, no, I don't feel bad about it. I stayed up Friday night/Saturday morning until 1:30 cleaning house since the grandparents were coming here before the party. I crashed and 15 minutes later, felt a tugging on my arm. I awoke to find DS standing there. "Is it time to open presents yet?" I kid you not. At some point after that, he ended up in bed with us. DD started coughing and I took her into the kitchen to take cough medicine. After that, she was in bed with us, too. At 3:30, DS had asked 8 times if he could open presents and I had had enough. I took him back to his bed. Friday morning, we saw a teeny field mouse in our pantry. He has since vamoosed. But at 4:00, we were awakened to DS screaming, "MAMA!! The mouse is in my room! I hear him and I'm SCARED!!!" We ran into his room, were there was...nothing. He was hysterical. DD followed us into the hall and was asking, "What's wrong with Bubba?" I finally just told DH to take DD back to our bed and I got into bed with DS. He asked again about presents at which point I told him that if he asked again before daylight, I was taking everything to Good Will! He finally conked until around 7 when I got up with him and let him open two of his presents. He had a great day, got WAY too much stuff - especially considering he got WAY too much at Christmas - but he had fun. We all crashed early last night and slept until 8 this morning when we got up to go to church. Whew! Aside from my birthday cake hangover, I feel more rested than I have in a while!
School tomorrow will be more fun than usual since we're going on a field trip. We're taking the entire second grade to see our local symphony perform "The Carnival of the Animals." I am SO excited!
