Hello,

It's another gorgeous day here- sunny and in the 70's!!

Glen, thanks for the info, but I tend to get shaky and feeling tired when it's time for a snack...but I'm good at planning for it...sometimes with this med, I get a little nauseous too...

Meowee, Byetta is put out by amylin... you can get more info about it at www.byetta.com (I hope it's ok on this site to give that address ) As I researched it, I found out it originated in research on Gila Monsters... so the joke among users is that we are taking lizard spit...

Thanks, Reba. I've saved the Byetta info and will discuss it with my doctor to see if he's heard of it and if he knows when it might be available in Canada. If I have to inject something anyway, I'd certainly prefer it to be something that might help me lose weight instead of gain it. It also sounds good because it says it helps to avoid the hypo/hyper reactions common with insulin.

Cool

Hi, all. Since I upped the Glucophage, my a.m. blood sugar has come down a little bit. I was taking Glucophage, Glucotrol and Actos which was helping a lot but I got off the Glucotrol and Actos when I started the medically supervised fast. My doctor brought up Byetta but I had to remind him that I had gastroparesis so that won't work for me. I went off my fast completely for a week and put on a couple more lbs. I'm having the hardest time getting back on it and I have to decide by next Tuesday if I want to continue or drop out. I've lost weight and need to lose a whole lot more. I'm never hungry on the fast and I lose weight regularly when I'm on it, but it's so boring. However, it's the best method for me right now because I'm not a cook and don't like to fuss over the preparation of food. Send all your good thoughts to me that I get back on it because I really need to finish this. Thanks.

Meowee,
glad to help... the main reason my doc switched me was for the weight loss part- my blood sugars were controlled on the other meds... and lab results are basically the same since...but the fact that I've lost weight rather than gaining has been great!

Was suppose to weigh in today. But we had a ice storm early this morning. And I don't go out on days like this. As long as I watch what I'm eating its not going to make a difference. BS was 134 this morning.

Hi, gang. . . another really cold day . . . and about 1/2 sunny, 1/2 cloudy.

Went to Swiss Chalet for lunch today. I did fairly well. I had a half chicken (without the skin) and a side salad. No fries or sauce but I did eat my roll with real butter on it. That was my treat. Don't know what to have for dinner now since I used up all my protein for lunch. One thing about having all that chicken . . . I was so full it was pretty easy to resist dessert.

My BS was 3.7 (67) this morning. A little lower than I'd like and I did cut my bedtime insulin by 1 unit. We'll see what it looks like for the rest of the week and then maybe cut it back another unit if it's still below 4.2 (75). No doubt it will be higher than I'd like by bedtime anyway.

Hope everybody has a great evening. We'll see you all soon.

Hello everyone! I just peeked in to see what's up with my peeps. Meowee, you'll probably be able to straighten your own night time lows out on your own...1 unit at a time. Just make sure you do the same dose for about 3 days before making further changes. Gotta go now. I've got dirt to scratch and eggs to lay. Bye

My day got off to a bad start. I was absolutely ravenous and I couldn't seem to get full. Finally decided to have a nap since nothing else was working (just a form of escapism, I really wasn't tired). Anyway, I woke up like it was a whole new day. Just had a wonderful (and filling) meal of protein and oodles of good, low carb, veggies. I finally think I've got the day in control. Maybe I was tired after all, but I sure don't know why.

Thanks for the encouragement Msfez. Congratulations on both your weight loss and your good BS, Creations. Have fun at Red Lobster. So sorry to hear you're feeling a little yucky, Rosey. Take care of the back and you'll be back in top form in no time.

Have a good evening, gang. See you soon.

Think I'll start a new thread. This one's getting a little long. I'll name it Dieting with Diabetes #7 - March. Afteer that, maybe we should start a new one each month.
