Default Baby You're A Firework!: July 2018 Daily Check-In & Accountability Thread

to the July 2018 daily weigh-in/check-in. ALL our welcome to this thread. Here you will find support, encouragement, and endless kindness.

Here you can:
~track your weight daily, weekly or however you'd like ... but do check in
~keep track of what you eat or didn't eat
~keep track of your water intake or lack of
~keep track of your exercise/other goals
~vent, rant ... express yourself or just chit-chat

For those of you who might not be familiar, the title of our July thread comes the lyrics of pop songstress Katy Perry's hit "Firework." I think for a lot of us, particularly if you've struggled with weight issues, sell ourselves short in how amazing and dynamic we are every damn day. Raise your hand if this has ever been you. Yep, I thought so. It is clear from reading various threads on the 3FC site that there is direct connection between dropped pounds and increased confidence. July is a long, hot month. Instead of viewing it as a month to slog through let's recommit ourselves to power through tough workouts, re-evaluate what's working and isn't working for our health or even in our lives, and embrace that we all are every bit as shiny, mesmerizing and powerful as any sparkler or bottle rocket.

Thanks curvynotlumpy for starting the tread!

My start weight for July is: 263.2 lb
No real goal for how much to lose. Summer months are hard for me, but I'm going to make time for meal prepping and the gym (@ least 4x a week)
I want to re focus on my water intake as the past week I have been drinking too much.

curvynotlumpy Thanks for starting the new thread! You are absolutely right! Make July best ever.

Nichelle as long as you are not gaining that is a win in my books. You got this!

This month I am going to make goal #2 getting into a normal BMI. 6.5 lbs. Seems a bit ambitious though, lol. Here we go!

noir yes. No gain is a win! still hoping to drop some.

Kids summer camp starts on Tuesday. Whole new group of kids. Should be good. Lots of stuff planned. Lots of outdoor time (please dont get too hot this summer)

Just got home from the market. I got so more Mexican vegan burgers...bringing them to the BBQ which I need to get ready for.

Thank you for starting the next thread for us, Curvy...and, now that song is stuck in my head, lol.

I am still in the middle of a extremely frustrating two-week stall on the scale and only ended up losing 4.8 lbs overall last month, so - between that and the fact that I'm going back home on vacation this month for the first time in almost 6 years (and will be gone for almost two weeks overall) and will undoubtedly see a gain during - I'm going to be MUCH more conservative with my goal this month. Honestly, I'll just be happy to maintain by the end of the month, but I'm going to set my goal for 5.6 lbs and hope that I can reverse any temporary gains that may happen from our travels and still show a bit of a loss before August comes around. We shall see! Until then, I'm wishing everyone lots of luck this round!

Happy Canada Day/Bonne fête du Canada to all my fellow Canucks! 🇨🇦

It is currently 41°C/106°F with the humidex. *I went for a walk around 9:15am and thank goodness that I listened to David and brought my water bottle or else I would not have made it back. *And I decided to try and finish the program I purchased so I got in a workout after I got back from walking (after some rest). *I weighed myself this morning and gained 3 pounds in the last few weeks, so I have to get a grip and focus on my health again.

hope everyone will enjoy a greazt Sunday!

1: 4.3km walk + 35 minutes total body workout with weights

Nichelle: Hope summer camp isn’t too hot and you have a ton of fun with the new group of kiddos!

Casey: It sounds like you’ve got an exciting month coming up!

Martine: Happy Canada day! What a hot day where you are! Way to go getting that walk in (and listening to David about the water!) and your workout afterward

Warning: Long rambling monologue ahead.

Dress shopping with my friend yesterday went well, she picked a dress and looked absolutely stunning! After her appointment, the bridesmaids were measured and my dress size is down one size from where I thought I was (yay!), but they didn’t have any dresses in the color/style my friend wants (boo!). Luckily, she’s a totally reasonable bride who is leaving it up to all the bridesmaids to buy their own dress from wherever they want, so long as they are the color and length she wants. This has lifted a huge weight off of my shoulders because all morning prior to shopping I was worrying about ordering a dress now for a wedding a year from now, the “what if I’m a significantly different size,” thoughts kept creeping in. So I took to the computer last night while I was trying to stay awake and of all places, found a beautiful gown on amazon! The thing that struck me as it being perfect is that the seller has an option of custom sizing (which as a 5’11” female piqued my interest right away) and the custom dresses only take a couple weeks to come in. So I’m thinking about having my measurements taken by a seamstress I’ve gone to in the past and sending those in for the three dresses (wedding, rehearsal, bachelorette) and ordering it a few months ahead of time, and then getting it fitted closer to the wedding in case my size changes, since the most a dress can reasonable be altered without losing the shape/pattern of the dress is about two sizes (or so I was reading). Oh! And the best part: the base price (not counting possible future alterations and being measured) is about $50.00 less than the least expensive option at the large commercial bridal store we were at. I feel so much better with this plan than going through one of the bridal boutiques around here.

Anyway, thanks for reading all that! Plan for today is to finish chatting with y’all and drink my coffee, prep my food for work tonight, and then back to the grind. Hope you all have a fantastic end of your weekend

Good morning

I hope everyone had a good weekend. The long hours and exhaustion finally won out because yesterday I did absolutely nothing except two loads of laundry. I also slept later than I usually do so I don't know if that was somehow connected to my laziness . In a couple of hours I'm going to the funeral of one of my colleagues who passed away last Saturday . She was battling breast cancer and I believe I've mentioned her before. She was one of those rare individuals who knew no strangers so I'm anticipating a large turnout of friends and family to pay their respects. I'll return to work after. It's going to be a choppy week with the Fourth of July landing on a Wednesday this year so it may put me behind schedule on getting my new person hired.

Martine: Happy Canada Day! Isn't amazing how quickly one can gain weight when the focus is on other things ?! I sympathize because I've been there too many times to count . BUT, better to catch it at three pounds rather than thirty.

RunningRedHead: I read nothing but good news in your dress post ! I love when brides provide a general guideline (color, length of dress, etc.) instead of insisting that all bridesmaids look identical.

Happy Monday!

Curvy: I agree with you about not insisting on a uniform look for bridesmaids, especially if the party is full of ladies with very different body types. I definitely feel very thankful that my friend is realistic in that respect and I'm happy I get to wear a black gown that I can not only re-use, but that won't show the sweat (June wedding outside on a lake ). Thinking of you this afternoon. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your colleague I hope you’re able to find a sense of peace at her services and good on you going back to work afterward.

Made it to about 5L yesterday. It was about 97F here yesterday and I feel like I sweat a lot, so I drank an extra liter to be on the safe side. Carb count came in at 37g total, 21g total (it feels good to be back on track carb-wise, even if I was way over my calorie goal). Can’t wait for that post-shark week woosh that I know is coming! I usually eat at maintenance for the week of TOM and then go back to my normal caloric deficit after it’s over. Hoping to be in the next decade soon, I haven’t been in the 250s since the beginning of college!

Martine: I hope you had a Happy Canada Day yesterday!

Kayla: I'm definitely looking forward to going home...I haven't seen any of my family other than my mom and her husband since 2012! It's a long overdue trip. Also, yay for finding an even cheaper option for the dresses AND being a size from where you thought you were!

Curvy: I'm so sorry to hear about your colleague's passing. I hope the funeral goes well and is a time of rememberance and reflection for all who attend.

-----------------------------------------

Still on the yoyo...bumped up a little yesterday to 171, then back down a little to 170.8 today. I'm also still up from where I was over two weeks ago now, so I am impatiently waiting for a breakthrough any day now. I'm not eating above maintenance, and - even if I didn't move much at all, much less actually workout - my cals should still be in the range for weight loss, so I'm just calling this a true "the body is a mystery" plateau and will have to remain patient through it. TOM is supposed to start sometime in the next day or two, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is nice to me like it has been a few times in the past, but we will see...lol. Also, something I will have to watch myself on will be tomorrow...it's our youngest son's birthday (he will be 4!), so I know we will be having a little bit of cake and ice cream -- and will likely be having pizza for dinner as well, if I had to guess. I'm going to do my best to navigate all that and keep the celebration calories to a minimum...wish me luck!
