Ophelia- Oh wow, Arizona monsoon season! I miss that most if not only about AZ!

Curvy- Glad you are enjoying yourself on vacation!

Martine- Humidity sucks! Drains the life out you and makes it super un-motivating to do anything. Hope you get a break!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Going to be more active so hopefully scale reflects that next week!

opheliaphoenix, The urge to snack is so annoying, good job getting back on plan. I struggle with that during PMS in particular. Sometimes I try eating 1/4 cup of walnuts as a snack because in theory it's supposed to help suppress hunger because its polyunsaturated fatty acids reduce ghrelin (the appetite hormone). In practice my results from that are only so-so.

Martine, Never-ending humidity here too. It's horrible, I almost would prefer snow, haha!

curvynotlumpy, Sounds like your trip is wonderful, and helping you reduce stress. That's great!

RunningRedHead, Yay for touching on your goal, I am the same way with not feeling solid about weight goals until I'm well beyond them because of those darn fluctuations.

Magicsusan, Congratulations on making a major goal, woo hoo!!!

e_boh312, Ugh I'm sorry that the walk made you so uncomfortable. Have you thought about trying to do walks in a swimming pool or a low impact water aerobics class? Those cool water activities might be more comfortable on your hands, ankles and joints that outdoor walks in the heat.

-------------------------
Hi ladies, sorry I've been checked out pretty much all month. The back injury plus work stress really destabilized me so I decided I didn't have the bandwidth to work on weight loss until my back was better and I could get back to the gym. So I went to lazy keto with no tracking, tried out a lot of keto baking recipes, and set a realistic goal of maintaining my weight at 164 (and a reach goal of 162, 2 lbs weight loss). Over a couple of weeks I was back up to 165, then last week 166, but it was clearly just water retention + PMS because a couple days ago AF came and 4 pounds (!) left. This AM I weighed in at 162.2, woo hoo! It's an unexpected happy thing to actually make my reach goal for the month despite all the injury and work related adversity I'm confronting at the moment. And over this week I've been able to return to the gym and workout at about 75% of my normal capacity which definitely gets me sweating without pain. I basically just have to avoid too much twisting and bending too far over, other than that I've been able to jump around and enjoy my cardio dance classes, and get out of my own head. I am going to avoid weight lifting for another couple weeks or even a month, though. I definitely don't want to aggravate the back. I'm so happy to be exercising again because I noticed my baseline anxiety level was skyrocketing when I wasn't working out, due to the injury.

Casey: Great job on the woosh! Keep at it, the rest will come back off! A lot can change in three days (Way to go getting back on plan!)

Jazzfan22: Welcome back! Glad to hear your back is feeling a bit better and that you’re able to get back to exercising a bit! Great work on your drop!

Getting ready for work tonight (drinking all the coffee and most of the water ). Dinner at work tonight will be a nice, big colorful salad with tuna salad on top. Snacks will include cheese, dark chocolate and almonds. My treat to myself will be a nice iced coffee from Starbucks on my way in (hence all the coffee haha). Tomorrows dinner will be either the same thing or I may splurge for some Chipotle (although, there’s really no need since there is plenty of good food here, so I probably won’t). Carb count was a little bit higher than normal yesterday (around 40g net *wowza*); we had my cousin over for dinner and while everything individually was keto-friendly, it definitely added up faster than I thought- I splurged on some blackberries and kalamata olives It’ll all come out in the wash though

Not feeling very well today, so going to postpone personals until tomorrow. Until then, I hope everyone is having a great day!

Weigh-in was down to 170.2 yesterday, then down a bit more to 169.6 today...which means I've at least broke even for July. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can keep myself under that point by month's end and that I will continue moving back down into and through the 160s again now that I've reentered that threshold.

This month has just gotten away from me!
I will be better next month!

For the past week it's been 35 C which is extremely hot here.... waaaaay to hot for me.

This morning my friend took me kayaking for my very 1st time! I really enjoyed it.

Good morning

A quick check in for me this morning as I have an afternoon meeting that I'm preparing for. I returned late afternoon yesterday to heat and hazy skies from the fires that are burning to the way north and Yosemite areas. Oh, how we could use those regular Colorado thunderstorms I experienced every day while I was there. Casey, they refer to this time of year as monsoon season also so I'm wondering if its part of the same annual weather patterns that area of the country experiences. Today our meeting is catered Chinese food which should be my last restaurant food for awhile. I hope it is. One of the things I realized while I was away is how much processed food my family eats. I want to be careful with my criticism as I am single so I have no idea what it's like to have limited time with a family constantly on the move. Still, I'm amazed that I didn't eat one fresh fruit or vegetable while I was away. I kid you not!

Will write more later. Wishing everyone a great day and Casey I hope you're feeling better.

Nichelle: Don't feel bad...this month got away from me as well with the vacation road trip we took. Here's to a better month in August for us both! And, kayaking sounds like it would be so much fun...I've always wanted to try it. Glad you had a good time!

Curvy: I am feeling better today, thank you. And, about the seasonal patterns...probably so! I know monsoon seasons happen elsewhere, but I wasn't sure where all it was considered an annual event. I enjoy the rains when they come...it's like they wash away all the dry, dusty film over everything, making it all clean and temporarily a little greener (something I especially appreciate while living here in AZ, lol), and it gives a feeling of starting fresh again before the fall.

-----------------------------------------

Weigh-in was the same at 169.6 again today...better than going back over into the 170s again, so I'm okay with it. Especially considering I barely drank any water yesterday and was a little over on my sodium count. I'm probably lucky I didn't show a gain today, lol. I'm feeling better today and have gone into deep-cleaning mode around the house, so I'm going to ride that wave as far as it takes me before I run out of energy. I'm just taking a lunch/coffee break at the moment, then will have to go to an appointment a little after 1pm, then hoping I will have a little of that steam left over to get back to my to-do list I've been needing to catch up on since getting back from vacation...I haven't even fully unpacked my suitcase, if that tells you anything.

Nichelle: Glad to hear your kayaking adventure was fun! I’ve never been, but it’s on my list of rewards as I lose weight (too paranoid to do it right now )

Curvy: Welcome back Glad to hear you’ll be getting back to non-restaurant-prepared meals. Isn’t it crazy when you realize how others eat? I applaud your outlook and awareness you have that it is different and challenging to feed a family constantly on the move. Oh the joys and freedoms we have by being single

Casey: Glad to hear you didn’t bounce back up to the 70s despite dehydration and sodium. I don’t know about you, but I find tackling some deep cleaning (especially with an abundance of energy out of nowhere) to be cathartic, so with that in mind, I hope you enjoy the rest of your cleaning, have a good appointment, and have enough energy left over to pick up where you left off

I only made it to 3L yesterday and I was right around 28g net carbs. I did go for a walk mid-shift with a friend from a different unit to get some steps in and stay awake at 4am. Normally I try to wake up early (essentially after a nap) on Mondays to get back onto a normal schedule, but I felt very tired today when I got home, so I slept until 4pm instead. Plan for tonight is dinner with my parents, maybe a walk with my friend around her neighborhood after dinner. I still can’t believe that tomorrow is the last day of July! How time has flown by Hope everyone is having a good Monday.

Kayla: That's a nice loss for the month, and I hope you have a great dinner with you parents!

-------------------------------------

Checking in with my month overview...I ended up only showing a 1.8 lb loss for the month overall, which was much less than my 5.6 lb goal. However, considering that I had to battle an 8 lb gain from vacation, I think I'll just be happy that I ended on a loss at all! I'm moving forward from here and considering it a fresh start for August. See you all over on the next thread when it gets posted!
