Jo - don't be shy! We don't bite!

And Sheila, I think it was more of a "partners-optional" thing. I'm sure no one will mind if you bring your hubby with you! I'm just not bringing mine because he would be bored out of his gourd!

I was just reading this thread, and I am so exited that some of you will be getting to meet, how exiting & cool is that?? I hope you have tons of fun!!

Jo- I am the exact same way, I am really shy meeting people too, but if you have known them for a while, you should go for it, heck I would if I could, and I am only 5 hours from Chicago

Ladies: I am sure Sandi from Indiana knows all this, but I grew up about 90 miles from Chicago and have been there lots and lots and in fact am going there for my birthday in Sept. Just to give you some thoughts on things to do:

Brookfield Zoo is a huge and beautiful zoo
Museum of Science and Industry is one of my favs
Shedd Aquarium
Natural History Museum
Navy Pier has lots of cool things to do
Casinos -need I say more?
Woodfield Mall is pretty spectacular for shopping
Baseball games if you are fans either CUBS (the best! ) or the White Sox

(you could rent a van and split the cost so you could go where you like. There would have to be ONE brave soul willing to drive in Chicago! )

Hope this helps and what a wonderful idea!

Oh, this would not be me, Faye. I would sooner wear a thong bikini to the beach than drive on the Dan Ryan.

Pretty: Honey, you ain't a seen nothing until you try and drive in Memphis where I live. This is cell phone heaven and EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE talks on them while driving. They are also the big, get in left lane and at last minute decide they need off at the right hand exit and cut across 4 lanes of traffic and almost hit the barriers! We are #3 in auto accidents in the country! Our insurance rates tripled when we moved here from Indiana 2 years ago. I don't mind Chicago driving at all, but we were just up there to go to a wedding in South Bend and got stuck for 2 1/2 hours on 80/94 right around Broadway exit in the middle of the night. They were putting up some kind of overpass and had all the lanes blocked but one! It was awful! The only thing that bothers me is that my dh used to work in Chicago over by Midway airport off Cicero as a field service tech and learned to drive the "Chicago" way so scares the bahooties out of me! Luckily, we have electric reclining seats!

**I apologize for interferring, as I did not know you had folks that lived in the area and were better equipped to be "guides."**

Hope all you ladies have a whiz bang time together!

No, no, no, you're not interfering! You know what "Chicago driving" is, that is great! I don't envy y'all in Memphis whatsoever!

Hey Jiffy if you can handle NYC, you can handle Chi-town! You just have to make sure to take your large economy size gonads with you!

Since my dh is retired military and we have lived EVERYWHERE, I will tell you if you have driven in Memphis, Detroit, NYC, L.A. then you can handle Chicago. They tend to be rude and so if you are rude right back you'll have NO trouble! I would say the biggest problem is the dad blamed truck drivers. They think they are driving Volkswagons and like to cut you off!
