Default Weigh in At Home 5/28-6/3

I'm not weighing in today, just starting the thread. I guess everyone is off enjoying the holiday weekend!
Judy, I forgot to answer your question about the corn. I found a recipe where you peel back the husks but leave them on, and remove the silks. Then you brush them with margarine and seasoned salt, re-cover with the husks and grill for about 20 minutes. They came out great! Sorry to hear about your back, are they recommending surgery?

Karen, sorry to hear about your losses recently. Remember to take care of yourself.

We are not doing anything this weekend, DH is working today and I have to work tomorrow. The girls and I went to Costco today and loaded up on fresh fruit and veggies. I always spend a fortune when I go into that place.......

Emily, I was reading one of your other posts where you said you love the red bell peppers. I do too, and I don't know if you have ever tried them with Laughing Cow Light spread on them, but it's heaven!! People at work look at me weird when I eat it, but when they try it they agree it is yummy! It feels like cheating, and only one point!

I used up half of my flexpoints going to the movies Friday night (took the kids to see "Over the Hedge" It's hilarious!). Made it to the gym yesterday and stayed on my points target. Hope to get some activity in today too, maybe go for a swim with the girls. Trying to keep up the water intake and increase my fruit/veggie counts too.

Hope to hear from you guys soon!

Rachel - Mmmm, I love the idea of spreading Lughing Cow Light on red bell peppers. I'm going to have to try it later. I used a whole bunch of points at the movies on Saturday - I ate a ton of popcorn (no butter). The movie popcorn is so much tastier - I guess it's the fat that does it. I counted up the cups of popcorn I had and took the hit on points, but hey, that's what they are for! We spend a ton at Costco too but I find that their fruits and veggies are great - assuming I can use the quantities before they spoil. Good for you for stocking the house with good things to eat! Thanks for the recipe for the corn. Someone actually talked about doing it at my meeting. I think I'm going to try to just grill them without the margerine/butter and seasoned salt. I generally eat corn without anything on it anyway. No, thankfully they are not recommending surgery. I'll probably be starting on some strengthening exercises soon (I hope). Right now it's been heat, "stim" and stretching.

I did get a letter from the insurance company that they want me to go to see "an independent" chiropractor. Yeah, I'll bet he's independent. He's not listed in the yellow pages - he probably makes his living tellig the insurance company that everyone is just fine. I got the letter on Saturday and got very upset. The appt. is at 2:00 pm on a day I might have been called into work. If I don't go, they say they'll deny my claim. I guess I overreacted a bit; I'm sure there are people who try to pull one over on the insurance company, but I don't like being treateed like I'm making this up. I haven't had a day without pain since the accident! Oh well, it is what it is, as they say. At least I didn't eat through it.

I decided to take a no-weigh day on Saturday. I just didn't want to step on the scale after 2 nights of snacking, controlled and using my flex points but salty nonetheless. My rings were really tight and I guess I just figured I give myself that break. My June challenge begins this week. I plan on making it because if I do, I will also finally get to my 10%!

Have a great Memorial Day,
Judy

Hey Judy,
Maybe your insurance company made that appt for you BEFORE your MRI.
I think you should call them tomorrow and inquire--you can't "fake" bulging discs. I just betcha you won't have to go to that appt.
Worth a try...........

Hi Ladies!

It seems like I have been gone forever...but hopefully not forgotten! I must catch up with you all. I hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the month of May soon to be June...yahoo!
I myself have been pretty busy, I haven't been online in a while as I was on a 2 week vacation, then I got discouraged and wasn't on plan, plus a long weekend last week for me! Excuses, excuses! Here I am now!
I finally went to my ww meeting last night and I weighed in @ 175.4 so it was a 1.4 loss from 3 weeks. Not bad at all, I will take it and not be hard on myself, since I was not staying focused & on plan forever.
I am looking forward to the month of June. I am finished my 3rd year of nursing (back to school in September). I am now working or hopping in a restaurant...making good tips (really), and good exercise! Just last week I got a job @ our local curves! So I'm hoping this combination will help me get closer to my goal!

I wish you ladies all the best! Hope you guys had a great long weekend! TTYL!

Rachel – Hmmm, that a definite possibility. I think I will try to cal them – I might not get to call today (I have a chiro appt after work), but will certainly try tomorrow. I hope you are right – thanks for the suggestion!

Jenny – Of course I remember you. Congratulations on finishing your 3rd year of nursing school. I think your loss is great, especially considering you did not stay focused. Wow, you sure do sound busy – both jobs sound like you will get great exercise!

I dipped in to some flex points last night but not a lot. My goal for today is to get to my points target and say there. It’s not that I can’t use the flex points, I just want a couple of days this week when I don’t use them. BTW, we tried grilling the corn yesterday and it was delicious!

Have a great Tuesday!

Hi there! I hope that everyone had a nice Memorial weekend. We did all the usual things, cookouts, parades, and family fun~it was great!

I am reporting no weight loss this week, but I did my measurements for May and have amazingly lost 11.25 inches over my body....Yeah for Turbo Jamming! I will gladly take that, especially since the clothes are fitting better!

Rachel~we love to do our corn on the grill too. I soak it in ice cold water for about 20 minutes(in the husks) and then grill for about 20 minutes. My uncle puts his right in the hot coals after he soaks it and it comes out great that way too, but we usually use a gas grill for ours. I will have to try the laughing cow cheese and peppers, that sounds yummy!

Jenny Dee~congrats on the loss! Congrats on the new job and by the sound of it, you will be seeing alot more losses with your jobs! Good luck!

Judy~good luck with the appointment, I hope that this Chiropractor is not an Insurance quack and can not only help, but ensure that you will be covered.

Talk to you all again soon!

Darcy – WTG on losing those inches! I think that measurements are an even more accurate measure of our progress than the scale which can be influenced by so many things other than what we eat. It sounds like you had a great Memorial Day.

I had a pretty good day yesterday. I went to the chiro and got some more info about this other doctor – definitely a step by the insurance company to limit benefits. Having gotten the information though, I feel better about it. I had a good day yesterday – I even managed to stick to my points target and did not use any Flex Points. My sneak peek was very nice this morning – motivation to try to do the same this evening. I hope to do some yoga for my back after work as well as the usual stretching.

How is everyone doing – stop by and check in!
Have a great one,
Judy

Hi everyone!
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. It's important that we remember the brave men and women who defend our country.

Judy, I hope everything works out for you. I've definitely had my share of dealing with insurance companies. My daughter has special needs. The insurance companies are ALWAYS looking for a way NOT to pay a claim. Be careful. Cross your tee's. Dot your eyes.

Everyone else, congrats on the weight loss, or maintenance. Considering it was the holiday, I think we all came out of it okay. Whew!!

I, personally, lost 1 pound. I'm still wondering how it happened. Oh well, I'll count my blessings and keep going.

Hi everyone.

Ivynikki and SlimKim~Congrats on the loss! I am not seeing my scale budge at all, that was why I decided to start keeping track of measurements, I was hoping it would help me to stay motivated.

Judy~Insurance companies will do Anything to save a buck! I hope that all goes well with this other Dr., Good luck.

Well, no news to report today, I was just checking in to see how everyone is. So chat with you all again soon

Kim - Congratulations on that great loss and on exercising 5 days a week. My goal is to work back up to that. Before I hurt my back I was easily doing 4 to 5 times a week and it felt great.

ivynikki - WRG on losing that pound. Yup, you are right about the insurance companies.

I had a great weigh-in yesterday. I lost 2 pounds which puts me "officially" in a new decade and gets me one pound away from my 10%. I am determined to make it this month. I have been craving ribs and decided that while I could have looked for a non-food reward, I would l let myself have a little indulgence yesterday for dinner. I dipped into the flex points to be sure but I've been learning that if I give in to a craving in a controlled way it is better than trying to ignore it. I walked a bit yesterday and did some (light) upper body strength work. Today I am going into the city to see a ballet with my cousin.

Tanya, KellyJo, Karen, Carla - how are you all doing?

Have a great Sunday,
Judy
