Default How many of you dont go to meetings?

I would love to go to meeting but unfortunatley the nearest place is 80 miles away. With gas prices right now theres no way Im driving the distance and if your not going to meeting what helps you stay motivated?

Thumbs up

Hi and

I don't go to meetings either ($$), but with the info I have, I try to make the best choice every time I put something into my mouth.

I try to take every moment at a time, and if I'm starting to feel anxious or have a carving, I try to drink water or make the healthiest choice possible. If carving for a sweet treat, I'll take a fruit or a diet soda, if a salty treat, some carrots or cucumber would do the trick. The 0 points soup is a good choice to start a meal or when you feel hungry.

I finally decided to seriously start loosing weight after a terminally ill kid challenged me that he would take his meds if I went on a diet, so basically, every time I even think of quitting, his face comes to my mind. Sure I've had ups and downs (and this is just my 2nd week ), but try hard to stay focused.

This forum is amazing, and I'm sure you will find a lot of support and good advices and ideas around here.

This also helps a lot !!!!!!!!!!

I have meetings close but my schedule just doesn't fit with a consistent meeting schedule. I originally joined when I lived in Iowa and LOVED my leader but have not found a leader here that can motivate me in the same way. SOOOO I have found this place and joined WW online. With or without meetings it is still about the inner struggle and making the right choices day by day. It is all we can do!!!

That being said...I am ALWAYS looking for friends and support pals!!

I understand...I prefer a walk outside since I am in retail management...it is nice to get outside and alone(even if walk a short one) but the rain today kept me inside...and I too did not go the 1/4 mile to the treadmill. I am carlajill_stl on yahoo for anyone out there needing a buddy or having a rough day!

I don't go to meetings either. I've gone that route before and it never really helped me. I guess I just never had a very inspirational leader. Now I use my old ww materials and come here to 3FC for support. So far so good!
Best of luck to you on your weight loss and

Hubby and I were going together, but we decided to try to do it on our own to save money (he is off work with an injury, and has disability benefits, but they are two thirds his normal pay).

For support, I come here. I'm also looking at ways to make dieting and exercising fun. I checked out some books and videos at the library on bellydance, yoga, and nutrition. I also just subscribed to a new magazine called "Looking Good," which features stories from women who have lost weight and how they did it, and how they are keeping it off (some were from WW members, others followed other programs).

I don't attend meetings. There are several places close by though. Sharing ideas and thought on this forum helps alot. I, also, have a few co-workers who are dieting as well. We encourage each other. Oddly enough, I think the biggest thing that keeps me motivated is the fact that I always carry my food journal and points calculator everywhere I go ( sometimes it stays in the car when necessary.) I guess having that food journal with me kinda makes me feel like I'm being held accountable for what I choose to eat. A meeting helps hold some accountable. My journal holds me accountable.

I don't go to meetings, either. I used to, a few years ago, and at first I really enjoyed them. Then we got a new person running the meetings, I didn't really care for her. She is still there, and the meeting hours don't work out well for me. It's also so expensive to go! So I am going to try to do this on my own...

Mo_berry,

Unless you have a program where you pay up front, like at-work, I believe they dole out the program material over several weeks. Another option might be to see if you have a friend or relative with a zip code where at-home is available. If you find someone who is willing, you could have it delivered to them. Everything comes in one box so they would only need to slap on a new mailing label and mail it on to you.

Hey all. I don't go to meetings either (broke as a joke). I just spend as much time as possible every night on this forum.
