I got here because I have always been overweight. As a child I couldn't get enough soda, and I have always been a total carb fiend, and for a long time I certianly didn't care for exercising. Then I went to college and lived on the second floor of my dorm-- and was exhausted by the time I had climbed to the top. It was definitely eye-opening! I was one of those girls who thought I looked just fine being bigger, but it was hard to realize that I was SO out of shape and only 18! So I started taking care of myself, lost 40 or 45 pounds, gained a lot back, and am now losing again for good.

I was also a part of another online support group on LiveJournal, and although I made an effort to comment on their updates nobody would update on mine! So I went looking for another group, found 3FC, and have been in love with it ever since.

i guess i should answer my own question...

i got here because i just keep getting fatter. every day i'm sure i was weighing a little more. i kept having to get new clothes because i would just slowly start outgrowing my clothes.

i've tried diets and losing weight in the past but i've always let other things get in the way (ie. family illness, being pregnant, stress, etc). i think i've finally realized that my health and weight loss needs to be front and centre, NO MATTER WHAT.

right now my goals are simple--10 pounds by april 16, which i have one pound left to go and 50 pounds by september 30 (my birthday) and i am exercising almost everyday (like 4 or 5 times a week). i am not settin myself up to fail again.

Hello. I am new to the site but love it so far!! I am here because I have four children been married for 16 years and have put everyone before myself. So its time for me. I need to take care of me!! I started WW Jan 2 and have lost 15 pounds the first month. This past month not so great but its one day at a time.
I have tried on several other occasions WW but didn't work. Two years ago I gave birth to my youngest and the stress over her health problems made me hold on to all the pregnancy weight and haven't been able to get off. We are in a better spot at the moment but I am determined to make this one work. So far its working!!
I am only makeing little goals at the moment. First one was 5 and lost 15. I am keeping 5 pounds a month I don't want to set myself up to fail. I am excited and would love to loose 22 by June 1. This would put me just under 200 and it is my 17th wedding anniversary!! Nice gift for myself.

Good luck to all and Take it one day at a time!!

Fay

I've always been somewhat overweight, but was an athlete and had a lot of muscle.

In college I gained quite a bit of weight (still an athlete, mind you). I would lose 15-20 pounds and keep it off for a while and then gain some of it back.

When I was getting married about two years ago I lost some weight but quickly ballooned up to over 190 pounds.

This journey that I am on right now stemmed from a picture of me and my husband on our first wedding anniversary when I was at my heaviest since I had ever known him. I tried 3 times last year to lose weight - once on my own (lost 9 pounds, gained it all back), once with SB (lost 13 pounds, gained back 6 of those), and now with WW at home (I've lost about 22 pounds with it and have a few more to lose) - so combined with my SB and WW, I've lost 29 pounds.

I am here because I want control of me!!! I am constantly letting others convince me of the "best" things for me. I thought food was my only true friend. Turns out, it really hasn't been that good of a friend, so I decided to control it, instead of it controlling ME! I am considerably more confidant in the decisions that I make, and it has only been a few weeks. I think that any one new that joins 3fc will see that there are people just like us that have problems, issues, baggage, etc, but they love us and encourage us regardless! The people here are awe-inspiring, and I rejoice in each pound lost with them!!!!

What has really kicked my butt in gear is having two daughters. After sunday dinner with my parents and aunts and uncles (when I was growing up) all I heard was how everyone was going to start their diet on Monday. My parents were always trying the latest fad diet with little or no success. I do not want my daughters to grow up like that. I want to teach and model for them a healthy lifestyle of moderation and exercise. I wonder how much my parents constant battle with weight affected me as I always felt fat as a kid? Recently I was looking at some pictures of me in highschool and I really was not in that bad of shape. I am also doing this for me as well. while trying to conceive dd #1 I grew to a size 22. I would buy men's clothes to wear as I always had trouble finding things that would fit. I have lost about 44 pounds since my second daughter was born in September. I am really enjoying buying new form fitting women's clothes and lifting weights I never thought possible.

I am at this point in my life due to many things. I have always been overweight. The older I have gotten the more overweight I have gotten. Since having my two kids I have also started to have other health issues not related to being overweight but it isn't helping. The final straw was when I broke the seat in my van due to my weight and I saw myself walking in the reflection of the window and saw that at age 35 I walk like I am much much older. I am at 3 Fat Chicks to help me stay on track to lose the weight I need and want to lose. Every day is a struggle for me. I think about food way to much. I am here because I am special and I deserve to be healthy.
